@Darkeagle6 on voice acting.

It's Nintendo, if they don't have the cash to shell out for slightly less than completely awesome voice acting for a game that's been one of their biggest selling franchizes '4 liek evar' no one does. Though I agree I'd rather have text boxes than bad voice acting.

I think they could include more scripted events like the charriot escort or the joust on the bridge of eldin... they we're awesome, while still staying just small bits of the game.

Bbout the tits... if big tits can improve a game, then it's not a very good game.
I like tits as much as the next guy, but c'mon, the world (reallife) is full of girls (with tits), the net is full of porn, so is TV etc. i get enough titty-input, i don't really need it in games, unless it's fit for the game. Cheeseburgers are also great, but that doens't mean they auto-improve a game.

As for the blood part, as far as i remember there was small sprays of blood in TP.
They could let corpses stay on the gorund, a little bloddy, put it wouldn't really change anything, except for the fact that it might get a rating that made it sell worse and prevented the younger players form playing.

About the whole formula thingy...
As far as i remember, ganondorf didn't capture zelda in OOT, she hid, disguised as shiek.
And doesn't the plot in MM revolve around stopping the moon from chrashing in to the earth becasue of skullkid stealing the mask/ocaraina?
Unless im mistake, thats 2 exsamples of plot that doesn't invovle mariostyle rescue-dumb-princess-from-evil-villian

I don't think steampunk would be very apropriate for zelda... The games have their own distinct fantasy style, with a fairytale fantasy like world, but with stuff that doesn't really fit the normal fantasy setting, like bombs, the divers from WW, the big cannon from TP etc etc. those elements are already sortof futiristic in a fantasy setting, making it steampunk would seem weird... i'll prefer to keep it as it is... zeldapunk?

Its a fun game, right? Why fix something that's not broken?

Why not ask for a new game series inspired by LoZ?
Excactly. people can yell fanboy all they want, but the way i see it, a game series is a series for a reason, if you've played previous games you know what you get, if u like it you can safely buy the next one, if you don't liek it you know to avoid it.
so insteda of dramatically changing the whole franchise, I find it smarter to just use some of the good elements in another non-zelda game, if u made a new zelda and just changed the setting and names of everyone, and called it something else it would be a great game, but calling it zelda would be weird, as it doesn't fit together.
the whole athmosphere and enviroment is part of the game, though WW isn't as close related world wise as OOT and TP is, it still works well. I think a futuristic game with zelda meechanics would be better off with just another name.

I like the idea of Steampunk LoZ. But I have another idea.

In this there would be voice actors, and Link would talk, but VERY little. He would mostly respond with one or two words, if nods and gestures don't express his meaning very well.

In my idea, Link and Ganondorf are friends at first. They grew up as childhood friends in the same village, where they fought with wooden swords, pretending to be like the great warriors of Hyrule's past. When the boys are 10, Ganon returns to his homeland to become King of the Gerudo. (Most of link's childhood will be gameplay in which you can play as both Link AND Ganon.
At the same time, Link becomes a Page under one of the Knights of Hyrule castle. It is then when he first meets Princess Zelda. She is a wild little girl, with a quiet distaste for the royal life, and wishes to see outside the court of her father, and meet the REAL people of Hyrule, not pompous overweight nobles who talk about nothing.
Two years later(12 yr old Link), Link is a Squire, and is given his own sword and shield. Princess Zelda, blossoming into womanhood, runs away from the castle, or attempts to. One night, when Link is returning sleepily to his room after a midnight trip to the bathroom (or castle kitchens or w/e) he hears a rustling and muffled squeals of frustration. He looks up one of the walls and sees Zelda caught on a decorative spike(because castles ALWAYS have decorative spikes), by her dress, about 10 feet(3 meters) up in the air.
Link, being the kind, quiet boy he is offers his help. Zelda tells him to catch her as she slides out of her dress. Underneath her dress, she is wearing tight clothing, almost exactly what Sheik wears. He catches her, rather ungracefully, as she knocks him down on his ass as he catches her. Zelda thanks Link and asks him to come with her into Hyrule Field, and elaborates that he is not her bodyguard or anything, she doesn't need to be protected, she's just never been outside the castle before and needs someone to show her the way. Link accepts of course, having no other choice with her being the princess and all, and they begin to sneak past the guards (actual gameplay). Once they make it to the castle gate, they sneak through the town and reach Hyrule Field.
After that, it flashes to the Gerudo Plains, an arid grassland in which you play as Ganon, as he trains for the role he has to fulfill as King. In this section, Ganon slowly learns of the corruption that is the Hyrule government. A King and his nobility stuffing themselves while in the Gerudo Nation, his people have to travel to simply find water to grow food and live. As part of the Gerudo custom. Ganon must travel into the Ancient tomb(The first actual dungeon of the game, he already has a Gerudan blade, which looks something like a scimitar) of his ancestors to claim the Sword of Gerudon(the first Gerudo king), a relic that has been passed through generation of the Royal Family.
In said tomb, there are trials that test Ganon's wit, strength, and judgement, skills needed by a good leader. Once he reaches the room in which the sword stays, he is met by his father; and elderly but muscled Gerudo nearing the end of his life. Ganon says that he must claim the sword, but his father denies his request. And so, by Gerudo custom, Ganondorf must kill his father to become Gerudo King.(This would be a Boss Fight)
He defeats his father, who before he is killed, congratulates his son, says he is proud of him, and gives him some sound advice "Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it." Ganon slays his father and claims the Sword.
It then flashes to Link and Zelda sitting on top of a hill, Zelda thanking Link for helping her get outside. Then back to Ganon, placing his father's body to the grave prepared for him.
As he walks outside he sees a shooting star. Link and Zelda see the same star. They all three, with inner voices overlapping, make the same wish. I wish to be with you again.

Well? What do you think?
this is quite sweet :D how would u drive the story, seeing as this is basicly teh setup/start?
Im thinking something along the lines of Ganondorf trying to do his best to serve his own people, which ends up leading to a war with hyrule cause of the envy sorta thing you mentioned above, it would portray him as a sort of tragic hero who ended up beeing the villian by trying to do the right things but became corrupted by power or something along those lines. that would also make the final battle between link and zelda vs ganondorf a lot more interesting, because it would be deeper than just good guy slays 1 dimensional evil villian. i can just imagine ganondorf talking to him, maddened by his efforts to do good for his people, and seeing link as the brother who should've stood by his side, and not as his opponent. can't come up with a good example of this kinda ending, though i'm sure i've seen it in movies, with great effects of emotional depths. the confrict (and dialouge) would basicly be between zelda and ganondorf, with link standing in the middle. would also make an interesting ending where the world may be saved, but link ended up slaying his 'brother' or sealing him in time or something.

Oh also, i sort of thought about having a 2-player co-op zelda game. If done correctly i think it could work great and add something new to the classic zelda puzzle-gameplay, and the awessome boss fights.

I don't think it would be that hard to make up some exscuse for link teaming up with a gorron or a zora or whatever.

only big downside i see is that you would be kinda limitting your playtime to when you have a friend around.
Dunno how everyone else would do this, but i would prefer to play through the game with the same (rl) person, or if we we're more than 2, take turns playing, but keep following the game when it wasn't our turn.
Otherwise u would be stuck with an AI, and i for one don't think it would work very well in LoZ, unless the AI was limmited to play a much lesser role than you, which would make the wholse co-op thing disapear.

Hmm.. What an Odd thread.

I really couldnt say i agree with any of the OPs points.. but some changes might be nice.

Actually, a more EEEEEBIL ganondorf would be good. He seems about as menacing in intent as bowser...

Wolf Link was actually really cool.

I think a more agile and acrobatic link would be awesome. He seems rather utilitarian when fighting sometimes (except for the trademark spin and wolf link's crazy leap from multiple enemies killing them.)

Lastly, More sheik involvement.

*EDIT*
oh, and keep the look from Twilight Princess, cel-shading was nice, but everything feels right again with that link.
