Well, he's got the "serve" part down pat, but the "protect" part still needs a lot of work.

Know what the funny thing is?

His Facebook profile "...cultivated the image of a very different man. Postings were filled with photos of a smiling wife, a baby girl and an English bulldog puppy named Dudley. A Yankees fan, Valle had more than 600 Facebook friends, including dozens of young women."

Gotta love dat social network, yeah?

Also, [Dracula's voice]"What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets!"[/Dracula's voice]

Please?

No this is scary to think people like this are out there in uniform... I have a bad feeling now. I don't know about what...

And then they'll actually fulfill his fantasy in a bad slasher movie and get to say "based on a true story" at the beginning. Great.

On an unrelated note, how are the police hiring screens doing?

This is probably the old carpenter in me talking but I'm really curious in knowing what "some kind of apparatus" he had in mind if any

Anyone else think of Adachi while they were reading this?
Nah, Adachi wasn't THAT bad. Sure, he killed two people, arranged for someone else to unknowingly kill more, and then try to kill you when you confront him on it. But Jesus man, at least he had SOME moral. The first one was an accident as well. So one murder, one accidental manslaughter, and a whole bunch attempted murder. But at least he never tried to EAT anyone.

Chief Manhattan federal prosecutor Preet Bharara said: "This case is all the more disturbing when you consider Valle's position as a New York City police officer and his sworn duty to serve and protect."
Well he was serving them. I guess some people just don't like medium rare.

ZING!!

I'll just go over here now...

Little alarming, but I'm glad the authorities nab someone that was actually a dangerous threat instead of harassing people for smoking a joint in public.

This. The morbid courosity wants to know just what kind of sick saw-like contraption he was going to build?

Except I don't drink Captain and Coke from a wineglass. >.<

OH! Since we're talking about police and mental capacities, I think I'll throw this in:

And this little insight from George Carlin involving, you guessed it:

And speaking of tough guys, I'm getting a little tired of hearing that after six policemen get arrested for shoving a floor lamp up some black guy's ass and ripping his intestines out, the police department announces they're going to have "sensitivity training". I say, "Hey, if you need special training to be told not to jam a large, cumbersome object up someone else's asshole, maybe you're too fucked up to be on the police force in the first place."

It is great they caught him and all but how did they know to check his files and such?
The article says the authorities were alerted by his estranged wife.

Also, like someone else said, there's probably some kind of record of him using the database. He could've gotten fired just for that. Good thing they looked further into it.

I wonder what happened to his buddy though. It's not mentioned anywhere, as far as I can see.
