Look at it this way: No other band has garnered so much money from releasing the same song over and over. That's impressive.

WTF?
I think this is the sign of the de-evolution of the human race,no?

Seriously! I mean there are So! Many! Better! Bands! Nickleback music is atrocious. 10 YEARS AND THIS IS THE BEST BAND!

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

Is this just our way of saying "Yeah, the '00s sucked"?

I like Nickelback, despite the songs the chav's like.

Whats wrong with 'em?
Nickleback perfectly encapsulates everything that is wrong with radio music today by being as 100% bland, cookie cutter, and awful as possible.

For that matter, I'm pretty sure the only good song I heard on the radio all year, possibly all last year, was a muse song.

And I don't really care all that much for them.
Well lets give you a guitar and shove you out onto stage and see how you do then eh?

In my opinion they're more then half decent in comparison to half the friggen shit people listen to nowadays.
I've been doing it for years. I would love to.

I'm amazed there's 7 whole pages of Nickelback hatred while not a single soul has even mentioned this;

Guys, seriously? This is Twilight all over again. Their old music was definitely simple and sad, but their latest album resembles Pantera more than their old songs (compare that one with this one [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVk_JUdveA8&feature=related] and then this one [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enpWAuhvSjE] if you must). Sure, they're still mediocre and unoriginal, but they are not the worst band ever. Could we pull the breaks on the hatred bandwagon and stop losing faith in humanity when it is far from necessary? You can do that once the Jonas Brothers start topping the charts. OH WAI-

Edit: On a sidenote, I agree with the Streetlight Manifesto remark. That has to be said.

<quote=The article which is linked in OP>Nickelback was the highest-ranking band of the decade, only finishing behind solo artists Eminem, 50 Cent, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Nelly and Usher, for overall impact and importance.

Who the hell wrote that article. And who the hell was the person that is in charge of all this.

Really?
Wow. I hate Nickleback. Them and Dave Matthews.
I'm actually suprised it wasn't a boyband or something like that.

Why is it that the general population on this site hates Nickleback?

I get that a lot of they're songs sound the same, but what's so bad about them?

...and not all they're stuff is the same, it's just that all of their stuff that makes it to the radio sounds the same.

I'm starting to realize most of you are just jumping on the hate wagon for no reason. So what if their songs sound similar? They have a style and that's how they roll. They are no worse then Linkin Park. Their songs are similar and it works. I like Linkin Park, and I like Nickleback (some songs I heard I really like - like Hero for example). They don't deserve the award, but they also don't deserve all the hate.

I don't mind Nickleback...I would'nt call them good, but not bad either- they're in the purgatory of the music world. I have their first album Curb, and All the Right Reasons. Didn't really like Curb, it was to "grindy" in style, it certainly wasn't pop rock. All the Right Reasons was more Pop-Rock, i liked Animals and Photograph (and too me, these sounded quite different to one another) One thing about that album was that the guitar play still had that rough element that Curb had, but only louder. I think this is why i, someone who likes metal music, quite liked these songs. Rockstar was probably one the least favourite songs on the album, i couldn't relate to it, and themeatically it was unorginal, and not done brilliantly either. However, dispite this it becomes stupidly popular- which is why i can understand why the Escapist despairs at common humanitys music taste.

*cough*Blink 182*cough*

I think that band of the decade should go to bands that have been around the entire decade. Having a band stick around for an entire decade is a feat. So those bands are more deserving than Chad Krogerfuck.

I'm having a hard time buying that someone who likes metal would think nickelback was worth a damn.

In retrospect, Radiohead should probably have gotten this award. They're great, but I don't listen much to them. Consider though what they did with digital distribution. Pretty significant.

It's obvious as a metalhead no band I love will ever win such a radio centric award. And honestly, I prefer it that way.

I can't decide what's more disturbing:

The fact that they won or the fact that it could have been worse.

I would have given the prize to In Flames. Sadly, metal isn't a "popular" genre.

This, but really, it could be worse and it sure as hell could be better. My god, what have you people done to music?

Nickelback is a Grammy award nominated Canadian rock band from Hanna, Alberta, formed in 1995.
Do I need to go into more detail about this?

EDIT: Also, Blink 182 went on hiatus for a few years. Your logic becomes even more flawed.
