Basically I was just wondering how many of you Escapists listened to Nine Inch Nails, or any of Trent Reznor's music. Not many people I know listen to his music so I'm hoping i'll find some people here to talk about his albums etc.
So.. What's your favorite album/song/lyric?

I'm not exactly a fan, but as a living sentient with ears I've heard 'Closer' and that was pretty damn awesome. Sorry, but apart from that I'm an ignorant.

I never really liked them much, they always seemed to me like a more watered-down, emo version of Ministry. There's the odd track on "The Downward Spiral" I quite like (although I really dislike both "Closer" and "Hurt") but that's about it, since then I feel like Trent's been treading water a bit.

I love The Fragile. Probably one of my favorite albums of all time. I really didn't like it when I first heard it though. I think that was because I was trying to listen to certain songs instead of hearing the album as a whole. It is best listened to all the way through.

I'm going to go listen to that album right now.

Mmm The Fragile *is* a great album, especially La Mer.

Other than that, I'd have to say Everyday is Exactly The Same. I'll be honest, I heard it in Wanted, and that's what got me into them. It just *made* the early scenes when the film was a cool-looking Fight Club wannabe, before it became generic action and ruined itself.

Other than that, the album(s?) Ghosts are awesome studying to.

Oh and the Johnny Cash cover of Hurt is amazing. I actually don't especially enjoy the original, but the cover is excellent, especially with the video. I loved what Trent had to say about it when it was released, something like watching someone take your girlfriend away from you and not really being able to do anything about. He was graceful about it.

NIN is my favourite band! maybe...
It has been many years now, NIN has accompanied me through over 35% of my life! maybe....
!
I'd have to say Head Down or The Great Destroyer or March of the Pigs would be my favourite song(s).
Am I dead? Where am I?
*walks around*

Big NIN fan here, though I wasn't terribly impressed with The Slip, especially after the excellent Year Zero.

I actually got into them with The Slip, and worked my way backwards. So yes I can see why you wouldn't like it. I just recently moved from listening to The Downward Spiral to The Fragile, which I think is my favorite.

Heh, The Fragile was the first full album I heard - I was a big Quake fan, fell in love with the music in-game and chased up NIN after that, though it was a few years before I actually picked up the album.

NIN are pretty mainstream... they are like pop-industrial. They're good, but not the best. I think his new HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS project is better.

Hurt, Only, March of the pigs are nice. I think photek did a remix which is better tho.
If you like industrial, you ought to try skinny puppy and oHgr - they are better IMO.
Wow, another person who listens to, and appreciates oHgr... now if you want to find a band that not many people know of and like, but should, then oHgr is your band.

I do love NIN, a lot of people i know do. You know the wrong ones i guess.
OHgr seems nice, but is kinda too soft for my taste.
I like Skinny Puppy, Suicide Commando or maybe some Wumpscut at the clubs. But they all got some strange plastic poppy aftertaste to me.

Check out the stuff from Ant-Zen

or of course this

Also, for the record, I don't give a shit how mainstream NIN are, so long as the music is good. If anything I wish MORE people listened to them.

Listen to this individual, OP. Marry them if you can!
An oHgr fan is a very hard thing to find XD You seen REPO! ?
(Funny Captcha: Junior takest)
I haven't got round to it yet... I didn't know they were involved in it? The irony of this conversation is that one of their more known songs, Cracker, is taking the piss out of NIN XD
