Got some balls to say that after making the Wii.
Heh, I was thinking the same thing.
Pretty much sums up my thoughts. What will be funny now is when it overtakes the Wii, lol.
Ahoy to that. Great people do think alike after all.

Fanboys unite! Team deathmatch of Nintendo fanboys against the Apple Drones!

Woot.

Rape-Face Reggie, the American head of "Gimmicky Electronics Company A" weighs in on the pointless creation of "Gimmicky Electronics Company B", and no sir, he does not like it. Big surprise.

Here you have two competing forces, one who makes pointless overpriced devices for kids, and one who makes pointless overpriced devices for adults. Who honestly expected Nintendo to jump with joy over Apple's latest iCrap? I sure didn't. And I'm going to side with Reggie, no matter how creepy he looks. The iPad is a pointless and inferior adaptation of the iPhone. Same thing, bigger, but with less functionality. Yes, let us all trample people to death while rushing to buy one. What possible incentive is there for Nintendo to try and utilize the iPad when they too are releasing a larger-yet-unimproved version of their own exclusive platform? The DS, be it original, Lite, i, or XL, is going to outsell any iCrap Apple comes out with, so why worry about it? Why crank out free or $5 games for a system you have no control over, when you can crank out the same games at $20 apiece for the one you have exclusive control over?
So apparently Nintendo is the one making "overpriced crap" when it's the company making the lowest-cost handhelds and up until recently the only one's making a profit on their consoles? And you're going to compare them to Apple who are notorious for overpricing their hardware? Are you just making shit up to annoy people or do you really believe in the words you spit out onto the Internet? I know you spent the rest of the post agreeing with him but goddamn that makes no sense.

In any event, Nintendo is amazingly successful with what they've been doing so far. As to whether or not the iPhone and iPad are viable gaming platforms? I completely agree that they are not. The iPhone has yet to prove itself and the iPad is more of the same only bigger.

As to why Reggie felt the need to weigh in on this, well it's just like any company head does when they feel someone just might muscle in on their turf. Granted he could've just said nothing and we wouldn't be having this conversation right now, but I think he's well within his rights to do so after Steve Jobs spent time trying (and failing) to take the piss out of Nintendo and Sony.

I love me some Nintendo , but those are some pretty bold words Reggie. Hope they don't come back to bite him in the rear.

Not that I'm disagreeing, but isn't the exact same thing true for the Wii?
No. Completely different. Wii games come on discs that people play a few times and move on.

Yes, god forbid people buy a game from you, play it a few times then buy another game. What a horrible business model, people just constantly throwing money at you

NoA didn't make the Wii... They just say what gets shipped to America and what doesn't and pretty much tries to sell the products, from what I understand of it anyway..

"Clearly it doesn't look like their platform is a viable profit platform for game development..."

This however is pretty ballsy considering they keep allowing shit onto game shelves all the mean while they don't allow good games like Fatal Frame 4...
He isn't saying the Wii has better games, he's saying that it has a much better opportunity to make money selling games than the Apple products. Which is pretty much true, considering the massive popularity of the Wii.
And I'm saying that they miss plenty of opportunities to make more money with game sales than Apple due to bad decision making.

They are capable, but there are many of times where I asked Keyboard cat to play them off. =\

I'm not one of those people that hate the Wii.. I own one myself and do get some joy out of it, especially when I find a game that my gf and I can enjoy together.. I just can't help but facepalm at some of the decisions they make.

Well apparently facebook is enough to be considered a gaming platform by a LOT of people (*not one of them*)
So why not the iPad/pod?
R.U.S.E. Looks like a game that would be quite nice on the iPad... If only it had the specs~
Or if it was not an apple product.

Nintendo DSXL = Bigger DS

?
At least the XL has the same functionality as the DSi instead of ditching its features like the iPad did.

Zinger of the week here guys.

What's funny is that I play games on my iPhone all the time, and I literally haven't touched my Nintendo Wii in a whole fucking year.

My macbook is running windows 7, like it was designed to do... ... So I don't see how this wouldn't work for the iPad when it comes down to it.

Would be interesting to see what people CAN achieve with the ipad, after all - people all over are developing constantly, and practice makes perfect.

Perfect games or perfect failures.

Good God, is there any new piece of tech Reggie isn't going to bash? Well, I already know from my rather shameful days on Nintendo fanboyism that no, no there isn't. Thank god I grew older and discovered PC gaming.

Note: I'm not ragging on people who like Nintendo consoles better than the most, I'm just ragging on the group within them who really use the "defence by offence" method of defending it.

Yes, Reggie Fils-Aime hates everything not made by Nintendo. What else is new?

Also, does anyone else realize that his last name (plus two letters) means "girl-love" in French? I'm sure it actually means something else, but for now, we're all going to have to assume that Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime loves little girls.
