Well, it's true, most games on the thing are cheap throwaways and the ones that try to be more lengthy tend to fall flat (urk, NOVA...). The pricing structure encourages dishonest pricing (it's free but to get any levels you need to pay money!) or just making the games as simple as possible (many are more polish than substance, designed to look good before the sale, not after). I'd like to see statistics but I doubt most game apps are profitable. Remember how Apple boasted about having about 100x as many games as the DS? The DS has about 5x as much revenue. So the average revenue for a game on the DS is 500x as high as that on the iP*.
