Seriously. What happened? Nintendo is dead. Wii Music? WTF?! Really, this "new" Nintendo is seriously messed up. Before, they kind of left the "hardcore" gamers out, but there were still good games! Now... by reaching out to grannies and chicks, they've pretty much shot themselves in the head. They said that they would reveal something to appease the "core" gamers, so where is it?! C'mon, they re-designed Pit from Kid Icarus after 15 or so years for SSBB, and did nothing?! What happened? What do you guys think, are they gonna release any games worth buying now?

Check out this website, they have some articles that made me cringe. And cry a bit. Shigeru Miyamoto, the god-father of gaming, looking like a complete idiot. People look beter playing Guitar Hero.

Wii music looks dumb beyond dumb...from what i can understand there will be no actual music on-screen, only on button needs to be pressed (and you can press whenever you damn well want to and the game wont punish you), all the music seems to be nintendo franchise themes (i.e. Mario Theme) and it can;t compete with the likes of Rock Band and GH...

As for Nintendo this new audience they're trying to get involved in gaming is making things much more mainstream, which isn't nessecarily a good thing, if dev see more potential in the mainstream less hardcore games will come out leaving us decent gamers starved

"We are fucking rich now, here's a bunch of shit you don't care about..."

Yes I stole that from a Penny Arcade strip, but only because it's true.

I just wanted to say you can't Really think of your self even as a gamer when yous go home and crank up the Wii music and seriously have fun with that. From what I've seen, that game was made for retards and blind people in mind.

Not to be mean but besides some of the interesting titles like Deadly Creatures, Wii has become more of a high tech "toy" then a game system. I know by every sense of the words video games that the Wii would fit, but in my eyes Wii sports/music/fit are just toys there to distract me.

And whats with the old hag with the wrist story?

I think Miyamoto's ideas are really far out there and they work best when there's someone to reign him in. I think they just let him go too far out into left field this time around.

They need to focus on refining what they have instead of continuing to try to break new ground. If they can refine what they have, I think they'll continue to be successful. Trying to break new ground continually will only overextend themselves.

First off, nice sexism, OP.

Second, the Penny Arcade! strip went Microsoft (green BG), Nintendo (look at character's suit), and Sony (red BG).

Not to sound like I'm parroting Yahtzee, but it seems Nintendo is floundering in between new installments to their franchise games. And I agree that they are becoming a casual gamer's console. And... okay. I mean, on some level, I understand why they're doing it. Gaming is really spreading to folks who haven't been gaming for years and years.

Nintendo seems to be keen on grabbing the Peggle players of the world and making them spring for the Wii, which makes sense. The Wii is cheaper, functions as a gaming device and a workout station, is kid friendly, and has a simpler interface than the button-heavy other consoles. I mean, have you ever watched a non-gamer try to handle a PS or XBX controller? It's pathetic and kind of hilarious.

So... yeah. Nintendo isn't shooting for the veteran gamer crowd anymore with their system. Heck, hindsight is 20/20, but I think we might have guessed this when the next-genners where first emerging and the Wii wasn't focusing on the hardcore elements the PS3 and X360 were.

That's my opinion on it, anyway.

I thought the green background mean that was supposed to be Microsoft.
The irony is that Nintendo seemed to be all of those combined this year.

Wow, I feel really bad for Nintendo fans. They really got the shaft this time. I mean, no mention of a new motion-based Zelda, no Ubisoft love to be seen (Where's Red Steel 2?), no new 3rd party support, no hard drive, no nothing. It's quite shameful but it seems that Super Smash Brothers was their last ace in the hole.

All my most anticipated games for the Wii are third party...

...I genuinely never thought I'd say that.

And as I said on another thread:
People really need to recognise the difference between 'Nintendo' the software company and the Nintendo product 'The Wii'.

Not the same thing.
