Finally some good news. The price I predicted as well as only having to deal with a single stupid friend code for all your 3DS games.

I do wonder why Nintendo seem to be under the impression that we're still in the glory days of ICQ, though. Don't they realize that we all have user names these days?

I'll wait to see the launch titles for the US 3DS before I make up my mind (unless it's the same crappy list I saw before for Japan). I do like the price as it seems a bit fairer. I also like how they fixed the damn "friend-code" issue. That's how it always should have been. Actually, the friend-code thing is still stupid when user names are superior for actually finding people. I would like to find a way to "friend" people I play against in online games when I'm just doing random games and find someone who is good or fun to play with/against. But I'm sure I'm asking too much, aren't I?

Anyway... Portal 2, Pokemon B/W, and maybe Arkham City come on my list of purchases for the year before this thing. Sorry Nintendo, priorities. :(

Hum. Maybe I'll buy one for myself for my birthday in August. Or I'll wait until Christmas? I'm not expecting good games until later this year. Or. . .wait, when's Golden Sun 3 (or whatever it's called. . .) supposed to come out? I want to play that game most rabidly.

Hmm... I wonder if I'll have $250 by March 27th.

Still, $250 is a bit steep. Hopefully I'll get to see a few real 3DS's so I can form my own opinion on it.

Will it use WPA for its online services instead of WEP?

Because not being able to play Soulsilver with anyone online pisses me off.

Well Golden Sun: Dark Dawn has been out for about...a month now i think?....maybe more....but it's already out. It's for the regular DS(or DSI) It's pretty good....especially if your a fan of the first two.

The new price seems a bit more reasonable. The only thing still holding me back is the lack of good launch games and the weak battery life. So I'll do the smart thing and wait for nintendo's next upgrade.

Wow, I feel dumb now. Goes to show just how little I follow game releases, I guess. MMOs stole my soul a long time ago. Thanks for the info, I think I will nip over and go nab it next paycheck. I loved the first two.

I was more than willing to drop $300 on this thing, though I was going to limit myself to only spending up to $400 total on system plus games, but this price "drop" (as compared to Japan) is awesome! Still, battery life isn't too bad (as I generally don't play on the go) and the launch window games look great. Sadly, I'll only be getting one or two games on the actual launch day, but I figure that plus the AR games will tide me over for a month before we get the better games (I'm looking at you OoT and Kid Icarus)

The way I see it, I'm going to be playing console prices for something that's only going to be having hand-held length games. That's not really an improvement in my book. What am I getting for it? A bunch of features, specifically the 3D Gimmick [that's all it is, nothing more... And I can't see '3D' stuff properly anyways] that don't matter to me, except maybe WEP support, if Nintendo has managed to figure that one out. In the end, games for the previous DS generation [DS through DSi] aren't going to drop in price any. That's a given.

As nice as this is to know, I'm really interested to see the games being released alongside the console and the price tag per-game. The console itself won't cost you three-hundred but, add in one or two games and you'll have passed that mark. Not to be a downer, I'm just really looking forward to that bit of information.

Nice! I already have mine preordered at Toy R Us, and now that I've saved up for the $300 price, I have an extra $50 for another game or two.

3DS games, for those wondering, are currently being pre-ordered for 40.00 USD. Admittedly, this might not be the final price, but I honestly can't see them going above this, since I can't remember a single DS title that released at $40.

The price is too high for a handheld ... Looking at competitors, you can buy a new 360 for $200 and for $50 more (the cost of a 3DS and a game) you can get a PS3. These are HD consoles and the 3DS is competing with them. It is too expensive.
Is it competing as a handheld, or a console? If it's competing as a handheld, then it's at a decent price, considering how far the tech has advanced compared to earlier installments (DSi, virtually a carbon copy of a DS released at $170 USD). If it's competing as a console, then it's portable, 3D w/o glasses, and motion controllable. In other words, it's got two up on all the current systems (the first two). The only downside is it's not HD.

Wow, I didn't exactly mean to rant, sorry. Simply put, it's not (imo) too high for a handheld, when you consider exactly what's in it. When Sony releases their next gen of handheld, there's no way it'll be less than this.

In Australia, the price is estimated to be around $350. Hopefully this will change but it doesn't seem likely.

That sounds good but, is it region free? I must know! As an Australian I miss out on 50% of games released and not being able to import JRPGs for it will piss me off and I'll have to import the damn 3DS if that's the case and buy one of those plug coverters on top of it.
No it is not region free, and from what I hear you Aussies are gonna get screwed in the pricing.
