You should've seen the Twitch chat for this. I swear I saw about 500 copy-pastes of "MELEE HD". It was both hilarious and annoyingly distracting.

OT: Super Mario Odyssey and the new Zelda look good, but I've already pre-ordered the Wii U version of the latter, so meh. Also, two launch games? Did you guys learn nothing from last time?

EDIT: Though the English voice acting for Breath of the Wild is definitely garbage.

The real shock for me is the fact that Xenoblade Chronicle X 2, squeal to a game exclusively on the WiiU (that I don't even know how they're going to port it to the Switch, but they are apparently) that was developed by a company wholly owned by Nintendo, is apparently not going to be a Switch exclusive, or even only exclusive to it and the WiiU.

I just don't understand. I mean sure, they're going to use a completely different UI that's likely more in line with that of the PS4 and Xbone, and potentially even the PC, but why is it not an exclusive? It would make sense if the developers or publisher where only on contract with Nintendo to make the first one, but Nintendo owns them so I just don't get the business side of things.
Xenoblade Chronicles was a Wii game not a Wii U Game. this is a sequel to that.

you're thinking of Xenoblade Chronicles X.

The unknown priced Online Subscription was somewhat saddening to hear, but learned later that you get a monthly free NES/SNES game download for it.

Otherwise the silly moments made me chuckle, and Nintendo didn?t lose its weirdness moments for some of the stuff they showed. That ARMS game was rather interesting, and I have to say, Pimp Bowser looks dapper as fuck.

The game is a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles instead of Xenoblade Chronicles X? Well there goes my interest in it. I missed that short lived chance on the Wii (fuck you GameStop) and I'm not playing such a game on the DS. I only played XCX and was hoping for a sequel, especially given the fact the DLC side missions (which are part of the base game here in North America) made it clear that a sequel was intended at the time of the game's making.

If it's not XCX2, I've just lost any interest I had in the console.

I don't really see why I would need this. I have a gaming PC and I have a smartphone. The Switch seems like a compromise, but it offers underpowered ports of games I already have and has a screen for games I already have on my smartphone.

I think I'm going to wait until I get a full consumer review before I purchase this. For now, I'll stick with the 3DS.

That was one hell of a zelda trailer. Much better then the others. And SMT and Fire Emblem? I'm going to hold out for some actual game play footage, but I may just end up getting myself a Switch...

LAUNCH DAY

1-2-Switch - Gimmick game.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Also on Wii U

Skylanders Imaginators - No one cares.

Just Dance 2017 - Soccer moms care, but probably have an old Wii for these kind of games.

LAUNCH WINDOW

Has Been Heroes (March 2017) - Looks like a mobile game.

I am Setsuna (March 2017) - Already on PC, PS4, and Vita, I think.

Sonic Mania (Spring 2017) - It's Sonic...yeah.

Lego City Undercover (Spring 2017) - Eh. Looks okay, but not my thing.

Arms (spring 2017) - New. Looks gimmicky.

Super Bomberman R (March 2017) - Hey Bomberman is back!

Snipperclips: Cut it Out, Together! (March 2017) - Don't care.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (April 28, 2017) - All aboard the remix train! At least it has a proper battle mode now.

Splatoon 2 (Summer 2017) - Cool? I never played the first one, didn't peak my interest.

NBA 2K18 (September 2017) - Probably on other platforms.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Fall 2017)- 5 year old game on multiple systems already.

Super Mario Odyssey (Holiday 2017) - Meh. Looks bad.

All in all, kinda weak. Very much a wait and see console. Not impressed with the move to paid online, Nintendo always manages to adopt the annoying bits of gaming, whenever they try to modernize.

I'm sad that online is now a paid service. I hate this free games justify a subscription - if the free games are worth the subscription cost, make it a seperate service and keep providing free online...

Otherwise I thought it was pretty good. Would have been happier seeing Splatoon2 was shown straight out of the gate if not for the online thing, and was pleasantly surprised to see teasers for SMT, new Xenoblade and Fire Emblem Warriors.

I also appreciate that they're back to region free, and now using a non-propriety charger, even if it's hardly mind-blowing stuff. Glad it's finally been confirmed BotW is a launch title, hopefully more follows fast.

I enjoyed it when the translator struggled with the Splatoon2 announcement "Squid research.. Labs? ... (the... fuck?)". Though I am thoroughly disappointed it's not called Spla2on. I love names that work as text but are difficult to communicate out loud. Especially when people don't think about it before trying to say it. Wasted opportunity.

I also liked the Sega guy that showed up to say "We will consider making some interesting games for Switch". Thanks mate.

Also the clicking, it was delightfully awkward.

It's a pretty cute console, I hope it does well.

too bad Xenoblade Chronicles Wii was a million times better than the insanely mediocre Xenoblade Chronicles X

Pretty underwhelming. Sonic Mania looks like some old school fun, but it's coming out on PC too. Mario looks... fine. I mean graphically it looks great, as you'd expect, but it's been a long time since I've been able to muster much enthusiasm for a new Mario game. New Megaten game, cool, but no gameplay footage. The game that has me the most intrigued is Arms. Or it did until I googled it just now only to find out it's all motion controls. *sigh* Still with this shit?

Nothing else really caught my eye. Well, new Zelda of course, but I'll just play that on the Wii U.

Unfortunately I'm a big fan of portable gaming and I'm pretty sure Sony will be bowing out of that race after the disastrous way they handled the Vita. So this may be my only option. I'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out.

Same old zelda, same old mario. nintendo is rehashing same series since more than 25 years over and over and over again.

Loved Majora's Mask and Ocarina and liked some of the others, but I'd be content never seeing another Zelda. Mario hasn't been truly great in twenty-eight years. I'm sick of their IPs and art styles, and, sadly, there is very little else to get a Nintendo for.
Nintendo selling point is nostalgia. if they remove old IPs and make new IP. they will be out of business.

Does the console do game streaming, screenshot capture and game video capture, and the ability to share to YouTube, etc?

A bit laughable that they are giving people a NES or SNES game for a month with their online subscription... Thanks for that 25 year old game I probably already bought on 5 different e-stores there, Nintendo...

Just have the Treehouse stream going on in the background, from horrible translator to a terrible audio guy.

Zelda was really nice, but the launch of the console itself is rather underwhelming.

I probably won't buy it on launch, I'll wait for its library to become more interesting before purchasing it. Until Mario, at the very least.

E3 will decide whether or not I'll buy it, I suppose.

It's a game where you rely on the Controller's Heptic Feedback instead of the Console's Screen.

It's basically the Wii Sports of the Switch.

But you do what, point the controller at each other and whoever presses the button first wins? That the game?
