Sadly, most of the games are already on the virtual console so I own just about everything in that's I'd want, and I'd be tied to a TV. I know Nintendo can't compete with the unlicensed stuff out there, but it's a lame effort, like when I saw something similar for the Genesis and it was all games from the Sonic collections I already had. (speaking of: sega, where's the PS4 version. You haven't made me buy this again yet to get one or two new games.)

Seems more line a novelty gift rather than an actual console. Well, If I had spare 70$, I might get it for a friend.

If the price was lower I would've been interested.
If it had The Guardian Legend however....

Looks like fun. I have a lot of fond memories playing it back in the day.

Now, SNES? My recollection is that the graphics were on par with a lot of today's side scrollers and indie games and the collection of games for it? Where to start.

Y'know what? I'm going to buck the trend slightly.
I like this. I'd almost buy it. If it were $20, even $30, this would practically be a no brainer for me. However, at $60+ I'm not willing to buy it.

So, I like the idea, but the price point is too high.

That's pretty much my stance. 60 dollars is a lot of money for what amounts to a digital knick-knack, especially one that's anchored to your TV and appears to be made of cheap plastic, so it's not even very pretty.

I wonder how much the controllers are because if I get the Nes that may stay in the box. The controllers I can still use with the Wii and WiiU Hopefully.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the controllers are $10. It doesn't sound like a bad price but it's essentially an NES controller so it probably wouldn't work on anything but NES VC games.

---

I think people would buy this thing. It's a neat sort of niche thing that's easier to get into and use than trying to get those same games off of the virtual console. It's plug and play after all so maybe people who are into this new Pokemon thing will be interested to try other games Nintendo made in the past. Also, other than being easier to use than the VC for an outsider, it's a cheaper alternative. If you wanted to get those games RIGHT NOW on one of the three VCs you'd be spending over a hundred-twenty dollars...without a getting a controller...Personally, I would absolutely buy it if I didn't already have an NES and a retron and...most if not all of those games between carts and VC downloads.

Are you able to add a poll? I wonder if people would prefer they do this with an SNES collection or N64 (Gamecube likely impractical). I'm thinking the SNES would not be much more difficult or expensive but there was a notable improvement over NES.
Sadly no, which would have been a good idea as I've been seeing a lot of people saying they want a SNES done over a NES.

Though, I'd totally pay for a Gamecube one. And now I've bumped my shitty ninja'd thread.

I wouldn't mind getting one of these for the upstairs TV. Sure, I've got a box with emulators on it, but having something official would be nice.

Though if they're going the wired route, I hope that the controller cable is long enough.
And has HDMI output. It's 2016, and that's pretty much all that they let us connect at this point.

I think I'll get it as a nice little collectors item or even something for retro parties. But again, if they do more I'd love a SNES and N64 one.

Im buying it, I loved those games and emulators never felt right
Actually the list of games all seems to be stuff that got put on the Virtual console, So I'm afraid it looks like just an official emulated console.

Considering it comes pre-loaded with a couple dozen games, many of which are classics that highlight the best the NES had to offer, I'd say $60 is a fantastic bargain. That said, maybe my standards have just lowered considering what $60 generally gets you in gaming today.

It would've really surprised me if it wasn't an emulated console. It's unlikely Nintendo still has stock lying around of the old NES hardware and they sure as hell aren't going to restart production lines for 30 year old electronics (assuming that's actually still possible at all).

The Mini NES is almost assuredly a system on a chip running an emulator, similar to plug & play retro clone consoles already out there.

At the risk of being stupid.... is the NX? The only thing we knew about the NX was that it was a home console with mobile features. This is a home console but small and light weight so therefore portable. Probably not but just a thought.

It's cute and at that price, I think it's a good deal. One of the little ones in the family is an avid gamer and is developing an interest in retro games. Tracking down the original system and cartridges gets expensive fast, heck, buying 30 NES games on VC isn't cheap either. This, however, would be a pretty cool introduction.
