I didn't mean to sound like Bethseda's games were bad, just that the buggy nature of open-world games (which Bethseda excels at) wouldn't fit with Nintendo's policies. Both companies make great games, but a game made by Bethseda published by Nintendo would have to result in some compromises that the game would end up losing its identity. Of course, that's just my opinion.Strazdas said:Snip
Unlike Sony or Microsoft, Nintendo gets to have much more say in how its console works because that's how they make their games. Nintendo makes a console so they can make the games they want to play. It has enough 1st and 2nd party, not to mention numerous franchises, to not specifically cater to everyone else. While this does isolate them, it does lead the Nintendo having its own identity when it comes to consoles vs the sameness of Sony and Microsoft.The_Echo said:It's not what he said about the Wii U, it's about what he said concerning Nintendo's attitude when it comes to developing a console.xaszatm said:So...remind me again why we should care what Bethseda says about the WiiU?
Sony and Microsoft go to developers and work with them to create a console they want to develop for. Nintendo seems to just create whatever they want and trust that their reputation will be enough to encourage third-party support. In the simplest way possible, this is how it went according to Hines:
Sony & MS: "What kind of box would you like?"
Nintendo: "This is our box. This is the box we want your games on. It's a great box, we assure you."
I mean, look at how Nintendo games usually stand out compared to the exclusives from Microsoft and Sony. In fact, for western styled games, its usually "on xbox 360 and PS4". If the PS4 wasn't the JRPG powerhouse I really could confuse the two consoles.
