You could use the same justification to argue that Slayer should have done the soundtrack for Schindler's List.
That would be pretty cool.
No. Just... No.

OT: If anything, Blind Guardian might (keyword being might) fit in a couple parts. That's the closest you'll get. Amon Amarth, no matter how much they dress up in fur, wouldn't fit the mood. Did you not watch the movie and only base your opinion on the title? Movies rely on atmosphere, and that atmosphere is shattered by the wrong kind of music.'

I think we can all agree that as long as his shirt wasn't present it would not have mattered one iota what music was playing. :)

Well I like vikings, I like metal and viking metal, I like Amon Amarth and I like Thor, seems like a given. Though they didn't make shadows the theme song to Lord of the Rings.

I was hoping to catch some Amon Amarth in the end credits, but wasn't angry that it wasn't there. It may have been out of place to some, but it wouldn't have been to me.

In the grand scheme of things, metal isn't that popular. And to be honest, it's alienating for non-metal fans. And everyone else has said why this is a bad idea, so yeah.

Yeah both the movie and music are about Vikings but the two kind of clash...

Týr should have been the band that did music for the movie, not Amon Amarth. They are far too abrasive. And it should be this song and this song alone if there was to be one:

They have a bit more mainstream appeal as a more meodic band to begin with, as opposed to Amon Amarth, who lack more than niche marketability due to the heavy, blackened sound.

Well, if they could make a movie about norse gods and not have Amon Amarth, viking metal, or any kind of metal fit in the movie then they suck at making movies.

Amon Amarth wasn't in the movie because not every one shares the same music tastes as your oh so superior tastes
I never said that.
"Then the kids would realize how awesome Amon Amarth is and they would start listing to it like they should."

Sounds like you implied Amon Amarth is a band everyone should listen to and the current alternative *being everything else* is something they shouldn't be listening to.
They should if they what to be awesome. Everything else is fine to listen to, but just way less awesome.

Not everyone liked Metal. Thor was made to be popular. Therefore, Thor did not have Metal.

Simple as that, and your opinions are not fact.

Did you actually watch Thor? It would have fit about as well as Slipknot would fit as the soundtrack to the Xmen movies.
Both could have worked, would have given off a completely different tone mind you but still could have been done.

But at the same time i dont think its as necessary as say, having Black Sabbath in the sound track for Iron Man.. so no i wasnt really disapointed.

Also you could apply this to lord of the rings with bands like burzum being heavily influenced by tolkien, yet the films didnt have black metal in the sound track xD

Has anyone taught you the difference between opinion and fact?

[brag]I've actully been back stage talking to the band, chilling out with them. My Godfather is the brother of the guitarist, so that's pretty damn awesome. Got some signed shit somewhere in my house.[/brag]

But I don't see it in the Thor movie, nope.
