I dont know if we really had a high school paper. We had school announcements (honor student privileges, though I was offered once on recommendation from a teacher), and small like, flyer thing each week saying the news of thes chool for the week (school planned events, lunch, birthdays, etc etc).

we had a writing magazine (I got published in once) that was internally published and students paid like five dollars for and you could read/see any pictures, poems, stories, songs students did (that was monthly). I remember I got second for a Halloween contest but was ultimately not published (despite top three in each category would be published) for being too disturbing and graphic.

The only thing I can say came close to this was an honor students pettiness to announce the secrets of all the "sluts" in school and people who pissed her off (and later blamed it on her cycle despite not being on it) and one was a girl had lost a baby through miscarriage that damaged her cause no one really knew she was pregnant to begin with.

Besides, I remmber when we were talked to about sex ed in high school no one ever said abortion was an option. tehy had mentioned it, only because one girl was brave enough to say she had one after her dad raped her, and said in some very rare situations its acceptable and perhaps even necessarily. but no one ever say it should be considered as an option and alternative.

Highschool newspapers aren't exactly the peak of journalistic integrity. Neither are most commercial newspapers, for that matter...

While I think no one has any right to impose upon another person's right to abortion, I can see why, even from a non-religious standpoint, some may take the stance that abortion should be illegal. I disagree, but I can at least understand why an educated person would reach that conclusion.

Opposing birth control, however, is just goddamned ignorant.

I get it. Sex should always be fruitful, yeah, yeah, yeah. Thing is, while the logical argument of "protecting human life" can be made for abortion, there is no rational reason to deny birth control sex.

"Because the bible says so" is the only argument for opposing the right to birth control, really, and that's not gonna hold up in any scientific discussion. Anything you kill by using birth control has no greater right to life than the billions of skin cells that die and flake off of each of us every day.

Being a supporter of abortion and birth control, this conflicts with my views. But whatever, people be dumb.
