And preferably 3 bucks or less.

Dragon Age 2 has 2 DLC packs. Those packs cost $10 each.

THe game can be bought for $20 bucks new.

Yep DLC has gotten kinda expensive now, it really sucks. I find myself having to pay lots more money for small DLC packs. Bioware have actully gotten terrible for this now, It wasn't bad in Dragon age origins or mass effect 1, but the sequel for both of those games had lots of overpriced DLC.

Oblivion did DLC that I enjoyed, it wasn't too expensive and added a hell of a lot of stuff that could last a while. Now most DLC seems to be important enough to be a part of the game you want but too expensive to be worth it to me so I keep playing games with the feeling im missing out.
Mass effect 3 is set to be the worst game yet released in terms of DLC with day 1 dlc you have to pay for straight away and possible ending dlc on the way. At this rate I may not be able to afford to buy AAA titles in the future.

That depends on the size of the DLC. If the DLC is a proper expansion like Shivering Isles for Oblivion, I am willing to pay a lot more than $5. Especially since Shivering Isles was better than the core game. I truly hope Skyrim's DLC is better than Skyrim. Because that would mean it's god-made since Skyrim alone is awesome!

I absolutely disagree. DLC's like "Undead Nightmare" or the Borderlands and New Vegas add-ons are easily worth 10 bucks. It's true that a lot of DLC is overpriced (Arkham City, I'm looking at you) but I don't mind paying more for good content.

I don't know why the idea of a market economy where demand sets the price point for things is so terrifying and startling for so many of you, especially since all of us have been living in one since we were born. Did gamers just discover economics in the last 6 months or something?

Wat? So proper expansion packs like Awakening and Shivering Isles should cost... What's $5 in pounds sterling? Like £2.50? IDK

But proper expansions should always be in the double digits when they're done right. Making them too cheap is selling them short, it can even be counter productive since for the longest time Cost = quality in the vast majority of cases.

Why do you think Apple has been making all their products stupidly expensive? Not to pick on Apple or anything but they've been overcharging for their stuff for so long now it's become the norm. Nobody seriously cares because they're apparently worth it (never been much into Apple myself)

And horse armour... Well the less said about horse armour the better

I'm just pissed DLC maintains a constant price point and never seems to go down in price like the game itself.

Whatever. The price of DLC should be worth the amount of content and playtime it adds. Some is worth the price of a full expansion pack (£30), some DLC missions + bling are worth about half that, low-content DLC (bling packs) are worth little more than a few quid.

Exactly. If a developer wants to make a pack of extra skins and weapons, I MIGHT spend a couple dollars on in (not often because what's in the game is usually plenty). If they make what is effectively a new game- with new missions, new storylines, new enemies, etc.- I will happily pay $10-15, or even more.

Depends on the quality of the DLC, really.

I loved Dragon Age: Origins, so I bought all the DLC, and loved each and every one of them, they were just well made. Sadly, I haven't bought anything of quality since then (Not including the GoW3 maps, Maps are Maps)

When the Skyrim DLC comes out, with all their promises, we'll see this thread come back. Quality > Quantity

That whole philosophy is one of the many, many, many reasons why capitalism is failing.

There really does need to be some kind of benchmark pricing guides for dlc to be honest.

What about packs like Shivering Isles? Were you unhappy with paying over $5 for that? Just because some companies overcharge for lazy DLC, doesn't mean that the quality of all DLC should have to suffer.

Please elaborate? People (myself included) still seem to be providing goods and services in exchange for money.

This. DLC could really do with becoming cheaper after while so that it doesn't feel stupidly expensive when the game is down to £5 or so.

DLC that delivers $10 worth of content should cost $10. It's not that hard to understand.

(although there is a lot of DLC delivering $1-5 worth of content that costs $10 out there, I agree, but the great thing about DLC is you don't have to fucking buy it).
