Well, dubstep is only getting popular. It's bloody catchy in most places and great for action orientated scenes.

I think the dubstep played an excellent part in Saints Row the third for example.

If the mood calls for it, the games music will provide the atmosphere. If this atmosphere requires dubstep, so be it.

Point is, id like to keep dubstep out of atleast one of these things (preferably anime and gaming. I know there is no dubstep in anime yet but you never know)
Then I reccomend you NEVER see good SC and DotA players stream... stay away from team Liquid, Na'Vi, Fnatic or anything that has a 150+ effective CPM.

This.
Here's a good example of a movie trailer that works well with dubstep (the movie doesn't have dubstep in it, just the trailer).

Nuff said. That song alone makes Syndicate look like the most bad ass FPS ever, even if it's not. It just fits the mood and tone of the game perfectly.

So yeah, as others say: if it fits the game, it's ok.

And this is what kids listen to these days? And people still hate rap music? Color me confused .
Yes, Dubstep is a very confusing genre. And it's popularity starting around August to September time is even more confusing however not everyone enjoys listening to it.

It would be a good genre of music if a majority of dubstep wasn't done WRONG. Frankly, people think throwing some wubwubs every few seconds followed by a drop whilst fizzing in the background is good as the same tune plays over and over. Also mixing in lyrics just makes it sound worse.

This user here has posted a good example of what I mean. I know you like it my friend but the first 5 seconds was enough to force me into stopping the video.

Now Dubstep can actually sound tasteful when done right. E.G. mixing it with another genre such as techno.

Now here's what I call a well done example of Dubstep. Not only does it not try and make your ears bleed out of annoyance but has a nice beat to it.

Also Rap? It's really boring most of the time so that's why it's disliked.

Sorry, had to be linked.

Haven't seen any dubstep in any games so far, except for SR3. Was nice.
That is so damn awesome! I also agree, SR3 is the only game I can think of which has dubstep and the dubstep in it isn't that great.

I hate dubstep. Probably more than you do. It's terrible. It sounds like someone blew up some speakers by cranking the bass too high and liked the sound it made after it blew, and it caught on and made dubstep. I hate that I keep running into it everywhere.

BUT.
It should not stay out of games. NOTHING should stay out of something just because someone doesn't want it to be there. Should there be no sex in games because lots of people are rather against it and there has yet to be any legitimately GOOD narrative reason for it to be there other than to be the reward for choosing the right conversation options with your squadmate? Absolutely not.
I mean, people keep telling the furries to get off youtube. I have yet to see a legitimate reason to have furries on youtube (as in, there's no furry Egoraptor or Equals Three on the site. There's some good, entertaining material on youtube and furries haven't contributed much to that (well, there's Nyancat I guess... +1.)) but I still get pissed when people act like it's THEIR rightful, sacred sanctum of non-furriness. Like, serious high-horse issues there.

I hate dubstep as much as the next guy, but to even think that gaming is some non-dubstep sanctum that's being defiled and that that's a PROBLEM... that thinking really needs to disappear. You can ignore it, turn the music off, put on your own, or not buy the game. But there are people who enjoy dubstep, and maybe it might have something to contribute at some point. There's no use in asking for self-censoring of a music "genre" just because some people hate it. Just like terrible voice acting, huge plot holes, annoying characters, and poorly implemented mechanics, dubstep is an annoyance but the developer knowingly placed it there, and had their reasons for doing so. In the end it's just another negative point against a game for you and I.

If I get a game with dubstep as part o9f the sound track or even a sound effect, I think I going to smash the disk apart.
That would not include Hard drives, I till restrict that to uninstalling and deletion, followed up by a deep scan to remove any remains then a defrag.

I hate dubstep as much (if not more so) as I hate, The Jersy Shore, the Kardashians (Sham wedding that cost more than the Royal Weding), Sopa/Pippa, Justin Bibber (curse you
Red Button
,EA Games and Steve Jobs (no mention of Dennis Ritchie in the media).

I am a Heavy opinionated, white Republican in my early 30s, I need to listen to Dubstep as much as we need another national disaster on the scale of the Katrina Huricane that wiped New Orleans, the Quake in Hati, or the Tusunami in Japan and so on. In other words None of it.

I was going to post Dubstep Guns myself. I don't like dubstep just to listen to, but when it works it works.

One reason is that while huma sex is not allowed on Youtube, there are a lot of animal mating videos on it, and people blame the furries.

No, I'm not going to do that.

OT: There's a music volume control in every game with music, you can use that to turn the dubstep off if you don't like it. Dubstep isn't even everywhere, you're just looking for it. Settle down and don't whine about it.

Uhm, I don't like Dubstep either, but it's popular so it will no doubt be in gaming, although it was very much a passing phase if you ask me, nobody enjoys it as much as a few months ago, and since it takes a few months to make a video game, I doubt people will start putting it into games now, and may take it out last minute due to its fall in popularity.

But all in all I don't really care if it's in games or not. The game developers I like are good enough to only put in Dubstep if it works well in the game. One of the reasons I hate dubstep is that on its own its really very boring despite trying not to be. But when its combined with video clips or events in a game, it really gets better.
