i think this guy is getting mixed up between dubstep and techno, i dont like either of them but for people that do there is a difference between them so im guessing thats why people are getting confused.

Railworks dubstep, can anyone surpass this?
It's beautiful!

I agree with what most people on this thread are saying and that is, it depends on the game. Personally I love dubstep but I would not want to hear it in games like Diablo or Skyrim. I think dubstep would best fit in with futuristic, fast paced action games but there is always exceptions.

Some of my favorite game music ever is from Xtreme G 3. Not dubstep, but pretty intense techno.

I like how everyone in this thread puts youtube links to brostep and claims it's dubstep.

Dubstep has been around since about the year 2000 - 2001. If you started listening to it 6 months ago and hold Skrillex as the key artist working in the genre, you're limiting yourself.

There is Dubstep I like and then there is dubstep that everyone else seems to like. For some odd reason I seem to prefer what most people think is terrible while I think that what most people listen to is straight up unbearable.

I like smooth dubstep, not that harsh screechy stuff everyone else seems to love. DJ Ephixa's Zeldastep stuff is amazing and that's about the only thing me and my friends can agree on regarding dubstep.

In games, I don't think dubstep really fits in, at least, I can't see a way it would fit in, other than games designed around the music... Mind you, I did have an idea for a game based on a dubstep song I listened to...

(edited for spelling mistakes and unpleasantness)

There is a similar thread like this somewhere on the interwebs but that one was far too messy and i'd rather not get into the details.

I'm not here to discuss whether Dubstep is good or not (for me, it clearly isn't) but i get the feeling its kind of trying to trap me by featuring in everything i do (like TV, hanging with my friends and maybe even Anime) and one by one, these outlets of my life are falling to Dubstep (im not sure if thats the right word)

Point is, id like to keep dubstep out of atleast one of these things (preferably anime and gaming. I know there is no dubstep in anime yet but you never know)

How i see dubstep: Dubstep is some creepy sex offender from across the street who keeps eyeing me up and he has already seduced many of my friends and when im alone and enjoying a hobby peacefully, its attempting to do the unthinkable and if i report what its doing to me to my mates, they'll just dismiss it and tell me to lighten up and enjoy it.

Where i am getting the idea that Dubstep is invading gaming: SSX and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (I was really looking forward to both these games) aswell as other titles not worth mentioning

Its a long description so ill just cut to the chase. Keep Dubstep out of gaming. Idc if people enjoy it. Just enjoy it elsewhere.
So you want to keep Dubstep out of gaming hmm? Well unfortunately for you, the trends say it's going to find its way in anyway because it is a popular type of music. And what is popular in one medium will go in to other popular media. Frankly I don't care if it does go in so long as the game designers make sure that the music matches the setting. Otherwise it would simply be pointless.

Honestly, dubstep isn't really mainstream at all save for specific parts of the internet and fandoms. I highly doubt it's going to consume everything you love, especially since (well I hope) that developers are smart enough to include it where appropriate. I would play a game similar to REZ if it had dubstep since I never got that into trance. Though I like drum and bass and glitch better. Plus who cares? it's trendy so of course people will use it.

I'm rather neutral towards dubstep. I don't understand the outright hatred. Sure, in some games it can be unfitting, but I can appreciate it when it's applied tastefully... it's the same with say, hip hop.

E.g., in Borderlands

Then again, I think a good game can make any kind of music seem good.

(Too avoid having a low content post) The only example of Dubstep in gaming I can think of off the top of my head is the mission complete screens of Saint's Row 3, and getting my wub on was pretty rewarding post-mission so...I'm gonna hop on the "Depends on how it's used" boat. Although that applies to any kind of music really.

Actually, I'd point out that this thing we keep calling Dubstep isn't actually Dubstep. Real Dubstep is derived from Dub, which is itself derived from Reggae. The best Dubstep is almost always British. Blackleg's a pretty good example, as he doesn't overuse Wobble Bass.

"Brostep", however, is all about Wobble Bass, and it's mostly thanks to Skrillex that this subgenre has become popular. It's not a bad thing, but you can plainly feel that this offshoot is going to appeal more to folks who still like the occasional fast guitar riff and something that feels harsher, overall.

Real Dubstep, though, tends to be slow and steady.

But then again, this site is predominately populated by 'metal heads' who think shouting into a microphone and thrashing on a guitar for 8 minutes straight is the pinnacle of musical achievement.

It isn't.
Interesting.
Please expand your statement.

No.

Why not? Because if it fits, it fits. Sure, I can't imagine dubstep fitting in a lot of games, but I certainly find it fitting here:

Also, your taste isn't everything.

Dubstep, the only musical genre that can make a railsim look badass.
