If you are at a high risk of getting flu then GET THE SHOT. Shit like this is going around EVERY FUCKING YEAR. Now with Swine flu it's cranked up a notch. Flu shots are safe for the vast majority of recipients, and any side effects usually are far milder than the flu. Neither is there a risk of getting Autism, or whatever from vaccines despite what Oprah says. This kind of crap KILLS people!

I refuse to get the swine flu vaccine also as i do not belive it has been tried and tested correctly. I have had the ordinary Flu jab and that is it... My neighbour had swine flu and was in my house. I never got the infection. Maybe im already immune...

Well if you have no medical conditions relating to respiration, are over 14 and under 65, you'd probably be thick to take it anyway.

Had it, lasts 3/4 days with extra tiredness for maybe a week.

Flu is an interesting one, you get fear media from both the pro and con vaccination people... on the one side flu is a deadly illness that will kill you no matter what your general health level and on the other side the vaccine is a dead jab that will kill you no matter what your general health level...

Granted I went to extremes, but that's how the two sides come across sometimes. Personally, I'm healthy, fit and am all too happy to risk a few days off work from the flu and not get the jab.

What people seem to forget is there are high risk people who could die from flu and who make up more than the majority of the statistics and those should probably be vaccinated... for the most part those people consist of elderly, extremely young or people with health issues that lowers their immunity. Everyone else needs to stop fretting. Different types of flu have been doing the rounds for a very long time, just because we have the science to genetically identify it now doesn't make it special.

Someone already basically said this, but this is how it should work - those for whom the risk of having the flu kill you outweighs the risk of potential grave side effects from vaccines killing you should get it. Everyone else should avoid it.

Historically, it's not like flu shots offer 100% protection anyway. There's plenty of people that get the flu despite the flu shot every year, so I'm going to opt to not inject viruses housed in a FORMULA UNRELEASED TO THE PUBLIC into my body. We've already had one death here from an allergic reaction.

They should at least tell people what's in it. I might consider it if that was the case.

I will not be getting the shot. The reasons for this is the time it took for the virus to be noticed and the vaccine to come out too short for any good testing. I am Healthy and from the numbers from the flu indicate that most people die from a previous condition mostly around the heart. The final reason I will not be getting the shot the media is not going to scare me into gettting the shot or not to take it.

This is insane. Not the (obviously faked) news story, but the reaction to it. First, if this were true, do you not think that a) the major media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, FOXNews, etc. would have mentioned it and b) the International Media (CBC, BBC, ABC, etc.) would have picked up on it as a potential harm of the vaccine? This is just fear-mongering at it's finest.

The best example of just how harmless the vaccine actually is to healthy adults is this: How many newscasters and politicians who publicly decry the vaccine are actually getting it? Exactly. Listen to your doctor. If you're in an at-risk group (respiratory condition, pregnant, nursing, >18 or <65) then get the damned shot if your Doctor says so. If you don't and die of complications stemming from the H1N1 you contract, then there's no-one to blame but yourself.
