Is anyone else here sick of people screaming "SEARCH BAR" at the slightest hint that a thread may not be completely unique? Or am I just being dramatic? Do YOU use the search bar?

This thread wasn't spurred by anything that happened recently, I was just wondering.

Yes, I am. It gets annoying. Just realize that people who yell it out have no control over other parts of their lives, so they try to compensate by yelling at random people "USE THE SEARCH BAR!!!1!!!!!111oneoneoneone!" Just learn to live with it, I guess.

I always use the search bar. Take mass effect 2 or modern warfare 2, we had like what? Forty thousand threads on each of them? I would see like 2 threads on the first page asking the same question or about the same thing. It's not bad if the thread is a repeat from a few months ago, it's bad if the thread is a repeat from a few HOURS ago.

Try to be creative with it (Usually ending up both failing and making a post without discussing the topic at hand)
Post it and nothing else
Do it right before/after making a repeat thread

I just like mentioning that I have seen a thread similar, then I contribute.

And seeing as I don't tend to make threads, I don't really use the Searchbar.

I Don't seach bar my topics, useually because i lurk for the day, then post a thread that hasen't been done that day, or in a long while.

Persoanally, posting search bar approved doesen't bother me, neither do the people who scream search bar. Eh, perhaps thats just me.

I understand the principle of not repeating threads, but what about us new members? What happens when we want to talk about something that the old guard has talked about before?

Do we dredge up the old threads and stick our comments on the end? Then we get yelled at for finding old threads.

It bothers me. Especially when they think they are being smart about it and don't contribute beyond saying search bar. Also, if you do use the search bar and find nothing, and they still say use the search bar. Sometimes finding threads similar to yours is hard; the search bar can be stubborn at times.

Yea it pisses me off when people yell "Search bar" or just as bad "Search bar approved." Why do we need to know you used the search bar to check a topic? To me that screams "I'm worried you'll yell 'search bar'". Yes, after the first topic I started in which I got torn a new ass hole for not using it, I have used it.

It gets very annoying. Even more so considering that the search bar on the Escapist doesn't work. Even when I do use the search bar, somebody always tells me to use it because the search didn't bring up a thread, the title of which is usually almost exactly what I had originally searched.

All in all, it is very annoying people people call "search bar" at the slightest provocation.

I hate repeat threads. I mean if the thread was done a upto couple of weeks ago, Ill be annoyed & will post the old thread. I usually hold the 30 day rule.

Its just lazy posting. Its like saying "I CHANGE LANES WITHOUT USING MY MIRRORS! AND I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE BEEP AT ME FOR DOING IT." - THere is a simple solution, Just do a quick check.
