It happens at the beginning of the office building level where it runs you straight into a room filled with atleast 4 goons who are waiting for you. And it happens in that steampipe room where you have to turn off the gas. Especially the second one where a cutscene actually shows Max sitting in cover observing the goons, and then for no reason at all just runs him out of cover.
You`re angry about two little scenes in a ten hour game? Use the shootdoge and play for win. If you fuck up, reload the checkpoint. You don´t even have to wait since there isn`t even a reloading time worth mentioning (could be one of the advantages of the whole loading system).
And as for dying when falling in the water. You know that ship section with the boardwalk? Eachtime I fell in the water a goon magically appeared out of fucking nowhere and shoot me point blank. That's not me doing it wrong, that's the game cheating me to cover up its own inadequacies.
You got me there, in all my playthroughs i`ve never managed to fall into the water. I thougt you were talking about the docks level. Guess you`re not suposed to fall off there. Nothing to get mad about, since many games create "deathzones" like that and it`s only there or when you´re jumping off high points into your death.
But then why did they even bother to put it there if they're not going to use it? Near the end of the game we get this cutscene where Max goes all MacGyver and tapes a soda bottle to his gun, foreshadowing some sense of sneakiness, but then the first weapon you find is a grenadelauncher. Then what's the point of that soda bottle nonsense if the game doesnt even allow you to go stealth anyway?
It`s for the story, they gave him a reason to be quiet it doesn`t work out. It`s not a stealth game. No big deal. The outcry would be much bigger if you could play MP3 like a stealth shooter.
Let me make this clear: I don't mind cutscenes one fucking bit! But if they're unskippable and each one lasts a good 10 minutes, then I get pissed. Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid have cutscenes up the wazoo, but you know what? You can skip them! If you're tired of all the talking and simply want to skip to the action, you can do that. Not with Max Payne 3 though. Everytime you replay this game you'll have to sit through these cutscenes no matter what.
Just use chapter select and use the checkpoint after the cutscene (loading time 25-35 seconds). Problem for most chapters solved. Besides the soccer stage there`re no real long cutscenes inbetween the levels ( i could be wrong but this is the only anoying level regarding this comming to my mind). The cutscene point wasn`t directed to you personaly. I`m trying to remind that the whole loading times you sit trough are a good exchange for no further reloading (for example after death). With this loading system you can start right away at your last checkpoint.
We don`t have much to argue. I don`t mind most of your dislikes. This game is awesome and the best third person shooter of this generation to me. It all comes down to personal taste, but since this is one of the games i`ll defend to death i`ll jump in anytime i`ll think it´s worth it.
Useless piss off points worth mentioning:
people don`t use the left-right view change on the pad in last-man-standing or that you can turn off the laser sights (select).
