I don't get all the hate for her. I'm not a U.S citizen, nor have I ever been there, so I certainly cannot make a call on the issue, but I've yet to hear anything bad about her - except a lot of hate, which seems to be for hate's sake. I'd love to figure out why this is so.

OT: Why anyone would pay for anything signed by anyone is beyond me. Oh look, it has lines on it... how nice.
these two summarize, quite well, why i cant stand her

That one has nothing to do with her ability to govern.
Not intrinsically, apart from the fact that it makes her a colossal hypocrite...
She is just strikingly ignorant, bigoted, borderline racist, unable to accept any form of criticism and small minded. Case in point: to Mrs Palin, compulsory health insurance = a "death panel" to children with Down's syndrome. A wonderful way to scare thousands of people away from a reform that is (IMO) a good start to healthcare reform in the USA.

Edit: She's also not a Catholic, and would probably try and shoot you for saying so. She's Pentecostal - VERY right wing, fundamentalist etc. Whole nine yards basically. This would intrude onto her ability to govern as she doubtless sees Muslims, atheists and most other religions as second class citizens.

Edit 2: Oops, my bad - she was raised a Pentecostal, but now attends a 'non-denominational evangelical church'

His little story seemed genuine for a moment, he traveled all these miles to see Sarah Palin. But now that I read the description of the item, a brand new never used Xbox, all I see is a man thinking this is the way he can get rich.

He should have chosen something other than an Xbox. He should have picked, like an expensive fancy rifle or something. It seems to me the only people who would be willing to pay big bucks for anything signed by Palin, would be her constituents. And you probably have a better chance of appealing to them with the rifle than the gaming machine.

Well Sarah Palin's autograph clearly isn't worth $999,900. I mean come on, it's not even a new Xbox.

Well it all started when the media wanted to give Obama free press so that America would have it's first black president. The sad thing is that Biden makes Palin seem like Athena (goddess of wisdom). Oh and for those who thing i'am right-wing or racist CNN admits to giving Obama $50 million of free press but more like $200+ million. The media should never help one candidate over another by that large of a margin.
Welcome to American politics, where the presidential candidate is decided upon by the media. Usually it's the left because the only conservative station is Fox News. Surprisingly, Fox News is the most hated out there... Hmm, is it because of the plethora of Liberal news sources to hate? Naw, of course not. They're always right. Especially about 2012 and "global warming." Oh, I'm sorry, they changed that now. Global Climate Change.

Which according to them was brought on by Bush...
To be fair, there is a significant difference between the "liberal" media (that is, the major networks dealing with the subject of News that are not Fox) and Fox news. The most obvious is simply that said Liberal media tends to do a better job of distinguishing between the news and the commentary. Fox has a nasty habit of not only doing a poor job distinguishing between the two but also of reporting their own commentary as news during the periods designated for news rather than commentary. Yes, there are networks that are as obviously liberal as Fox is conservative (MSNBC) and it tends to be just as disgusting to watch.

So why does Fox catch all the crap? First, because it is far and away the most popular news network in the United States. Perhaps as important is because they have the audacity to pretend they are being fair and balanced. I don't care that they have an agenda that they place above their journalistic integrity. They are hardly the first organization to be organized thus and they won't be the last. I'd like to say that I don't like the fact that the lie about it but the truth of the matter is that what I really don't like is that so many of the people who follow the network believe the lie.

The sad truth is having watched plenty of news networks in my time, the network that did the best job of delivering information and distinguishing between commentary and information was Al Jazeera English.

No autograph is worth $1 million. What's the point? It's a curiosity, nothing more.

And this isn't even counting the fact that I consider Palin to be one of the most deplorable people alive.

Assuming that the xbox could be sold for $150 best case scenario. That signature increase the xbox's value 7333.3333 times, at least in this greedy bastard's eyes.

You know what keeps the Chinese government happy every time Taiwan comes up? Saying the government IN Taiwan over the government OF Taiwan. 2 letters keeps the US away from an international crisis. A president or presidential candidate should not be prone to screwing that up, much less which Korea has been our friend for 60 years. Just saying.
Nobody is above verbal trip ups. Anyway George W. Bush was voted in twice and he was one of the worst public speakers in the recent history of presidential candidates, so people obviously don't think it's that important a quality!

But my point is that Palin is the devil incarnate, there are plenty of things she deserves to be criticised for. So let's do that rather than making huge deals out of unimportant and petty issues like this North/South Korea mistake and the fact that she used targets on her campaign map.
I agree and I don't. Yes presidents are allowed some ability to screw up in public speaking, but international relations can be a delicate interaction. Slipping up on something relatively easy like that does not bode well for the more complicated things a president will have to say. For what its worth, I was never happy that Bush was the public face of America either. I agree that there are several other things to criticize Palin over, but her public speaking screw ups should be one of them. Screwing up what Korea is the US's friend or making up words in a prepared statement issued electronically (which would hypothetically have spell check) tells me personally that this is a person who cannot be trusted with opening their mouths when diplomacy comes up and is another reason why I would not vote for her.

I don't care if the console was signed by Jesus, Steven Tyler and Darth Vader it still wouldn't be worth a million bucks.
Bingo. Precisely. Truth in a box.

That said, should Palin get anywhere near power, I wouldn't be confident that she won't immediately provoke World War 3, in my opinion.

Hell if she wouldn't, I'm sure other countries would out of a sense of decency if nothing else.
Even as an American, I can't say I would blame them.

Here's the most recent of many reasons for the hate:

The woman who almost became Vice President didn't know the difference between North and South Korea.
People who dislike Palin (a group which includes myself) jump on her for ridiculous things though, that being one of them. She does know the difference, it was just a slip of the tongue which she corrected about 3 seconds after she said it.
Good point.

She's really not a good politician. She's used her time as governor for personal issues (hassling her step brother while in office), her family life is truly bad (17 year old daughter got pregnant out of wedlock and she's Catholic IIRC), and recently, she had the bullseye map defense [http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/24/sarah-palins-pac-puts-gun_n_511433.html]. Probably wouldn't have been much except for hey...

This happened [http://video.foxnews.com/v/4492782/shooting-suspects-family-breaks-silence].

Make no mistake, the guy is crazy and this is being turned into a political thing when it shouldn't be. It just shows that Sarah makes really, REALLY poor decisions in her political career.
A friend and I were talking a few days ago. We were wondering when someone would make an unfounded link between the shooting and something the realm of conservatism.

Yes, because Sarah Palin called that guy up and told him to go shoot people.

You are trying to put a square peg into a round hole. It's always the fault of the conservatives that a nutcase went out and killed people. But when a liberal extremist does something similar it's, "Oh we had nothing to do with it, the poor guy had mental problems."

A crazy guy is a crazy guy, that is that. He had problems, it wasn't anybodies fault.

Though I haven't seen any signs of people making wrong claims like you have as of yet.

So I guess you are the first to take the wrong and cheap shot with this.

The liberal arsenal: Coincidences = Damning facts to use for political bashing.[/quote]

Actually, the guy specifically said that "this is being turned into a political thing when it shouldn't be". Don't jump on his case, he's just showing the example.

As for Palin, she's a known advocate for gun rights and has a reputation as a redneck right-wing gun nut like Charlton Heston. She also CHOSE to use crosshairs to show key states that the Republicans needed to 'recapture'. Yes the guy who committed the shooting is a nut with some serious social issues but you cannot ignore the fact that she INSPIRED this very thing. It's like telling a crazy person they can fly, and then saying, "don't blame me" when that person actually tries to fly.

If anything, the news issue should only create further backlash against America's crazy gun laws. Laws that Palin fully advocates and supports. No wonder it's being turned around on her. And how low have the Republicans sank? I have two words for you: "Birth Certificate".
