If the villain of Skyfall was a clearly a member of Quantum then you could consider it a trilogy but I don't think that connection is ever explicitly shown in Skyfall and without Quantum as a constant antagonist there's no real plot connection between the first two movies and Skyfall. I don't think they even mentioned Quantum in Skyfall.Kuomon said:Good save with the Lord of the Rings comment at the end, but may I suggest another possible trilogy in the 3 Daniel Craig Bond movies?
Hey, don't knock on something getting an animated series; sometimes it expands the story and builds up the world it's set in. Case in point: The Clone Wars.Radioactive Kitten said:Everything in the 80s got an animated series. EverythingSonOfMethuselah said:Hurray for Back to the Future! Love those movies so much. I think STAR WARS will take the prize for this reason, because Episode VII is in pre-production in order to make SW the trilogy of triligies it was going to be years ago.canadamus_prime said:No, the reason things can't remain just trilogies is because executives won't stop ringing every last cent they can out of a property and we as fans won't stop eating it up like pigs at a feeding trough.
I would classify that as "made into a trilogy just to make more money". The first was amazing, but the second and third were... just... er... they just shouldn't have ever existed.Panorama said:Matrix trilogy? hrrrm not not sure i can say that, but i can third toy story.
Um, what? Then Star Wars won, because neither Back to the Future nor Indiana Jones have any real plot connections across the movies.Lex Darko said:If the villain of Skyfall was a clearly a member of Quantum then you could consider it a trilogy but I don't think that connection is ever explicitly shown in Skyfall and without Quantum as a constant antagonist there's no real plot connection between the first two movies and Skyfall. The second is my least favorite and is pretty damn crappy, 3 is slightly better but not good.Assassin Xaero said:I would classify that as "made into a trilogy just to make more money". Exactly, and Star Wars isnt either then, since the last 2 movies could be considered 1 story as well.JoaoJatoba said:If lord of the rings is not a trilogy, back to the future isn't either.
I've never heard that. According to the 'making of' for the films, they were going to be two originally, then PJ's first studio demanded he condense it into one or be replaced. Eventually he went to New Line and ended up with three.Icehearted said:Also, I read Lord of the Rings was almost 6 movies and the three that were made left out a lot.
By that logic we would have to disqualify Indiana Jones as well because he doesn't fight the nazis in all 3 movies. The 3 new Bond films are connected thematically and through Bond's character growth (which are both new things to the Bond series, but that is a different discussion altogether), not by what villainous organization he is battling.Lex Darko said:If the villain of Skyfall was a clearly a member of Quantum then you could consider it a trilogy but I don't think that connection is ever explicitly shown in Skyfall and without Quantum as a constant antagonist there's no real plot connection between the first two movies and Skyfall. OMG, I'm so glad to hear someone else mention the Kingkiller Chronicles. I'm so looking forward to the third book when it eventually comes out. For those of you that haven't read it yet, you need to. Absolutely some of the best fantasy writing I've read. If the third book is as good as the first and second book, then it would win hands down.Panorama said:Unless we aren't limiting this to movies and we can get into the old school trilogy format (novels), in which case I'm going to go with The Kingkiller Chronicles (no, I don't care that the final book hasn't been released yet).
