Doug Funny vs Tommy Pickles

Let's all be honest here; We all love cartoons. But as we grow up and the characters we loved stay forever young, is this because they aren't real, or because they couldn't hack it as adults? Let's find out, between Tommy Pickles from Rugrats, or Doug Funny from Doug. Post your choices below or on twitter!

I submit Lisa Simpson. She's more of an adult already than her parents!

We all know Eddy wouldn't make anything of himself.

Ed and Double-D, though? Ed would be a monster movie director and Double-D would be an inventor. Pretty obvious.

Putting aside the question of success for a moment, when i was little, much of my enjoyment from the Rugrats came from its diversity. The most important example for me was that Tommy, like myself, is half jewish. Because of this i saw in Rugrats, unlike other cartoons, part of the world i grew up in. This allowed me to identify not just with tommy, but with all of the characters more.

Also i loved the Ed, Edd and Eddie comment.

Other tha Lisa Simpson, the only ones I can think of right now are Phineas and Ferb. Anyone that can break the natural laws of physics on a daily basis WILL succeed in life.
Nice pic of Draken, btw.

Jimmy Nuetron couldn't succeed because he can't let go of friends, after his friends had all gone to different uni's he would go into depression.

And good because I hate that brat.

Doug, but then I'm biased cause I've met Billy West and he's very, very cool.

I forgot that they threw in that whole movie director thing for Tommy, so yeah, they'd both be starving artists as adults. A tie indeed!

And I agree fully with the last point, we need DVDs of Doug already.

Good one. It's not in this thread exactly, but we know what happens to Dexter: he becomes an anorexic wussy wage slave and then a lumberjack somehow.

Initially I was furious because the only cartoon character I hate more than Tommy Pickles is Doug Funny, but this was well done. Extra points for the Ed Edd & Eddy.

Probably. The whole "saving the world" thing will probably keep going way until their adult years, but who knows if they can ever make an actual living out of it. I' like to think they'll make it happen somehow.

I love both Doug and Rugrats growing up. Debates like this are why I love this show. You get the nostalgia gold star from me today.
