Once someone tried to convince me that he was allergic to water.

Humanity never ceases to amaze me.

Well it's not actually impossible if that's what you're saying. Still, it's so rare i'd be extremely skeptical of anyone who claimed they were.

Between my doctors telling me that I had a brain tumor, that I'm developing narcolepsy, and that I now have a form of epilepsy that doesn't make you lose motor control or consciousness...
Well, add that on top of the 18-year-old college graduate thing and now I don't even know what is and isn't bullshit in my own life. >.<

I used to also get these very bad headaches all the time last spring, and everyone insists that they were migraines. I'm sorry, but even if they fit the description of "migraine" in every possible way, I'm not going to run around claiming I have them until I'm diagnosed.

And yes, while my doctors were saying I had a brain tumor, I did say that I had a brain tumor. The world's full of bullshit, so at this point, I just stick by whatever's the most legally sound of things.

2) My friend, who is way smaller than me (and I'm not very tall either), weaker (I can easily outmatch him in every Armwrestling/normal wrestling match we do sometimes for fun, and again, I'm not very strong myself), and who has been in a gym maybe 2 or 3 times in his entire life, who started laughing at me when I told him I have some problems with lifting more than 50kg from my chest (I just started going to gym myself just 2 months ago, so no surprise here). Then he told me, he can easily make correct series with 80kg weights. I called BS in my mind, but I decided to let him live in his little world of lies.
Just because you can beat him in arm wrestling does not mean you are stronger than him. I can beat a lot of my friends in arm wrestling, but they are probably stronger than me.
Did I mention, he's also losing any fight with me or any of my friends, is smaller and is not working out (or working at any place that requires lifting any heavy objects)? I think I did... As a bonus, I can also add, he was no help at all when me and my friends (including him) helped my other pal with moving out stuff from his old house to new one.

I know there are a lot of people who are strong, but doesn't look like. I also know that guy well (since 1st grade actually), I know he WAS totally lying. With all due respect to him, as I really like that guy a lot (one of my best friends), he's a wuss.

I'm sure this happens to everyone. You wander into a conversation, or perhaps an internet discussion, and someone will say something that immediately makes you think "No, that's bullshit", but you never actually say anything.

Whether this has happened online, with a group of friends, or you simply heard about it from someone else, come share your "No, that's bullshit" moments.

For me, it has to be the number of people in a "How long have you gone without sleep?" topic who claim times upwards of 3-5 days. We all know it's not true, and yet we don't bother to say anything.

Another would be people who self-diagnose themselves with various illnesses such as insomnia or bipolar disorder.

P.S: if you must mention something said by someone on the escapist, please refrain from posting exact quotes, or posting any names.
i have a friend that, on the regular, claiming about a week and a half.. and yah BS

Like you said, the amount of people on here who claim to have 10 different mind/personality disorders working at once becomes annoying.

I used to hang out with guy that claimed to have done all sorts of things that were total bullshit, and upon further examination were just events from movies that he'd seen that were slightly altered to seem somewhat plausible. I bought it for a while and once I started to see through the bullshit and after he fucked my then girlfriend I stopped hanging out with him and haven't seen him in about 10 years.

Also went to school with a chick who was a total hypochondriac, she was always claiming to have some sort of illness or injury. One of my friends tossed a french fry at her during lunch one day and it hit her back and she flipped out saying that it had put her back out of place and now she'd barely be able to walk for the rest of the day, she made a pretty good act of it at least until lunch was over.

What was a family doctor doing diagnosing you with Tourette's? That's a job for a neurologist. At the most, your family doctor should say you might have Tourette's, and give you a referral to someone who can properly diagnose you.
He gave us a referral, but we ended up with the "school psychologist" saying I had it as well.

I still don't believe it entirely.

Well, you may very well have it. I would be suspicious if they said ADHD and tried to throw ritalin at you, but a diagnosis of Tourette's is already showing that they're looking a bit harder than the psychiatrists around here do. Also, the symptoms tend to be a lot less obvious than the T.V. specials would lead one to believe. I've got a relatively bad case -- not pulling muscles or dislocating limbs bad, but still difficult to function when I'm off of my medicine -- and the most common reaction I get when I tell people is "I never would have guessed". If your case is mild enough, you may be able to function without the medication, but it's still good to know you've got it in case it does interfere with your life down the road. Did I mention that it counts as an ADA disability, and as a result, most of my college is paid for?

Yes, that self-diagnosis thing is so annoying. If you haven't gone to a mental health professional and actually had it verified that you do have it, you don't know so don't claim you do. And I have "that's BS" moments all the time. At times I think I see more posts of BS than I do believable ones. But that's the internet.
I know I have Extreme ADD (I did not diagnose that, a doctor did...who sent me to a specialist, who confirmed it, I wanted a certificate I could frame, but they wouldn't give me one :( (jk of course))

I really do think I have mild OCD though, I count all of my steps to a multiple of 6, and if I get where I am going and have not stepped in a multiple of 6 steps, I will take a few more steps. Ok, maybe it's not that mild...

Yes I just acted like a jerk.

You make up an excuse, even thought it's a lie, in that case, you're "sick".
A "friend" of yours says you are not sick and that you're lying. Ends up with you having an awkward moment with whoever you were talking to.

My point is, don't spoil your friends' plans.
You'll end up being alone.

I don't take any meds for it anymore, so it's probably very minor.

Okay. Depending on how the ritalin affected you negatively, that can be a symptom of Tourette's. It's not like this for everyone, but in many cases, including my own, ADD medication makes Tourette's symptoms worse. It's like throwing gas on a fire. That's actually why I mentioned immediately saying you have ADHD and prescribing ritalin as a bad thing; at least in the part of Florida where I live, most of the Psychiatrists, especially the pediatric variety, use ritalin the way General Practitioners use antibiotics. ADHD is a legitimate diagnosis, but it can be a bit over diagnosed.

For the second point, it's good that you can function well without the medication. I guess you get it free in Canada, so the ridiculous cost isn't an issue, but still, it can be a hassle to take it. As for the lack of ADA protection, that's too bad, although there may be some kind of equivalent over there. I'm actually getting a percentage of my tuition and books paid by the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, and you never know if there might be some obscure Canadian equivalent.

What I meant was "I'm in Canada, my post-secondary schooling costs $5000 a year".

It's very affordable.

Damn. Is that including room and board? Because tuition alone at a State University over here is around $4,000 a year.

No, but we get free public transit.

That's all buses, all commuter trains, and all subways.

Meaning the University of Alberta is a FREE thirty minute commute from anywhere in the city. Perfect for when you live in the city.

I think room and board is $2000 dollars extra, unless you're on disability.

Well you can dismantle a gun, but if you want to get it back together then the pieces would be big enough to be obvious as to what it is. A security person would definitely notice, especially cross-country airport security.
Agreed, despite how much you can dismantle on weapons, there will always be one bit that makes it a little obvious to what it is. I'm sure border security would notice an uzi...

OT: Not really a lie, but just things that make you want to say "Are you as dumb as you look?"
Someone I know said the film I was watching wasn't good, and his solid reasoning was he did "Media studies" for A level, and therefore knew what a good film was. I told him to go and die.
