Well it's not actually impossible if that's what you're saying. Still, it's so rare i'd be extremely skeptical of anyone who claimed they were.Kazzak said:Once someone tried to convince me that he was allergic to water.

Did I mention, he's also losing any fight with me or any of my friends, is smaller and is not working out (or working at any place that requires lifting any heavy objects)? I think I did... As a bonus, I can also add, he was no help at all when me and my friends (including him) helped my other pal with moving out stuff from his old house to new one.dodo1331 said:Just because you can beat him in arm wrestling does not mean you are stronger than him. Then he told me, he can easily make correct series with 80kg weights. I called BS in my mind, but I decided to let him live in his little world of lies.

For me, it has to be the number of people in a "How long have you gone without sleep?" topic who claim times upwards of 3-5 days. We all know it's not true, and yet we don't bother to say anything.
Another would be people who self-diagnose themselves with various illnesses such as insomnia or bipolar disorder.
P.S: if you must mention something said by someone on the escapist, please refrain from posting exact quotes, or posting any names.

Well, you may very well have it. I would be suspicious if they said ADHD and tried to throw ritalin at you, but a diagnosis of Tourette's is already showing that they're looking a bit harder than the psychiatrists around here do. Also, the symptoms tend to be a lot less obvious than the T.V. specials would lead one to believe. I've got a relatively bad case -- not pulling muscles or dislocating limbs bad, but still difficult to function when I'm off of my medicine -- and the most common reaction I get when I tell people is "I never would have guessed". If your case is mild enough, you may be able to function without the medication, but it's still good to know you've got it in case it does interfere with your life down the road. Did I mention that it counts as an ADA disability, and as a result, most of my college is paid for?lacktheknack said:He gave us a referral, but we ended up with the "school psychologist" saying I had it as well.Owyn_Merrilin said:What was a family doctor doing diagnosing you with Tourette's? I still don't believe it entirely.

At times I think I see more posts of BS than I do believable ones. But that's the internet.

Yes I just acted like a jerk.

You make up an excuse, even thought it's a lie, in that case, you're "sick".
A "friend" of yours says you are not sick and that you're lying. Ends up with you having an awkward moment with whoever you were talking to.
My point is, don't spoil your friends' plans.
You'll end up being alone.

I don't take any meds for it anymore, so it's probably very minor.

Okay. Depending on how the ritalin affected you negatively, that can be a symptom of Tourette's. It's not like this for everyone, but in many cases, including my own, ADD medication makes Tourette's symptoms worse. It's like throwing gas on a fire. That's actually why I mentioned immediately saying you have ADHD and prescribing ritalin as a bad thing; at least in the part of Florida where I live, most of the Psychiatrists, especially the pediatric variety, use ritalin the way General Practitioners use antibiotics. ADHD is a legitimate diagnosis, but it can be a bit over diagnosed.lacktheknack said:I'm in Canada, so...Owyn_Merrilin said:I would be suspicious if they said ADHD and tried to throw ritalin at you,

What I meant was "I'm in Canada, my post-secondary schooling costs $5000 a year".Owyn_Merrilin said:As for the lack of ADA protection, that's too bad, although there may be some kind of equivalent over there. Damn. Is that including room and board? Because tuition alone at a State University over here is around $4,000 a year.lacktheknack said:What I meant was "I'm in Canada, my post-secondary schooling costs $5000 a year".Owyn_Merrilin said:As for the lack of ADA protection, that's too bad, although there may be some kind of equivalent over there. Agreed, despite how much you can dismantle on weapons, there will always be one bit that makes it a little obvious to what it is. I'm sure border security would notice an uzi...ProfessorLayton said:How about whenever people are asked for their penis size?
Also, people will try to brag about anything so they will exaggerate to make themselves seem like the best, even if it's something as silly as going without sleep.
Well you can dismantle a gun, but if you want to get it back together then the pieces would be big enough to be obvious as to what it is. A security person would definitely notice, especially cross-country airport security.Mozza444 said:snip
