Yeah, not exactly proven himself to be un-thuggish in the past, has he? And let's not even start on his twat of a brother.

Can I blame the global recession on his morose music?

"Keep in mind that this is a man who attacked his brother Liam with a cricket bat during the recording of (What's The Story) Morning Glory?"

"I'm not asking you to side with the man, but put yourself in his shoes"

Conflicting messages all around on this one.

I see no reason to be up in arms about him saying that. It's not like he's some credible news source quoting a famous psychologist about the evils of gaming. He's just making a generalized, frustrated statement.

Doesn't even matter if he's right or wrong. It's kind of irrelevant and it would be stupid to get angry over it -- especially given the situation.

Yes, I just read the OP and commented. I totally ignored the likely dozens of identical comments.

I just felt like typing.

Given that the gaming media has already attached itself to this like a pageview-hungry lamprey, I fully expect the result of this news cycle to be "Noel Gallagher: Silly Git," but I've got my fingers crossed that you Escapist readers will know better. I'm not asking you to side with the man, but put yourself in his shoes, and think of the idiotic, baffling statements you'd toss out while fearing that your home might be torched or your window smashed in with a brick.
I love how the comments reflect how many people actually read the post...
The articles I write here are no longer news items. They are subtle tests designed to monitor reader comprehension.

So far, the results are grim.

The thing is though, he's not just blaming videogames but media in general for desensitisation to violence. That is different from just pointing at Rockstar's latest release.

I simply disagree. I had no intention of verbally attacking him coming in, I'm such a hipster "I was level headed about this issue before I was asked to be level headed about the issue".

XD

That's too bad, I enjoy the news articles here. You always add in little snippets of comedy that gets me through the boring parts.

Well yes and no. If I was going through that I'd probably blame everything. But the Gallagher Bros. were in more fights than Rocky.

Well, I feel sorry with the man, no-one should have to live through riots. But I would just like to point out that I got my latest phone for £15. You don't need to be rich to own a mobile.

What a completely baseless accusation, lets kick his head in!

In all seriousness, people are always going to scapegoat us as violent pyschopaths just itching to test our game honed murder skills in real life: I say think about it for a minute, laugh and then carry on with our lives. With any luck virtual reality simulators will be developed in our lifetimes and the media can leap onto that and leave games alone.

Poor guy. I don't agree with him, but I can understand his strife (unlike most of the rest of you). It makes me want to give him a hug. Then again, I like to give everyone hugs.

I wish these riots would just end, already. And I don't even know what's going on.

Weren't you kicked out of your job for being an ignorant habitual sibling attacker, Noel? Was that due to violent video games or just that you're a talentless dick who wants his column inches back?

Just wondering.

Or these people?

These are articulate, intelligent people not looking for coverage in the trash media. You, Noel, are an attention whoring dick. Please leave.

Were "brutal videogames" a reason for the extremely similar 1992 L.A. riots?
No? Then kindly shut the hell up, you wannabe Beatle

I'm sorry, but that accusation is based on nothing and shouldn't be used for an explanation as to why the riots started. I can sympathize for seeing his country going straight to hell, but I seriously doubt video games had a hand in all of it.

Why does there have to be an explanation for everything?

Whatever happened to people being jerks for no other reason than just to be jerks? I miss that reason.

As a musician I can't get angry at Noel the man wrote live forever but it would be easier to like him if he didn't always sound like a nobhead

Might as well blame it on something. It's certainly not their upbringing, parents, schools, government, or capitalist society. It must be video games.

ACtually Noel never actively attacked Liam. It was visa versa the majority of the time.

Also, I can see how one can draw that conclusion. As an adult who didn't grow up with games its very easy to see all this violence that children and teenagers actively 'engage' in and enjoy and say its disensitising the youth.

This website is obviously bias against it as its a video games website.

Back when we lived in Hampstead, this wanker attempted to chat up my 31 year old mother, in front of his pregnant girlfriend. Needless to say, he is an utter tosser, and his opinions should be taken with the utmost seriousness.

Before laughing at them.
