It's actually rather amazing the amount of people in this thread who have either just read the title of the article, or just skimmed to the part where it said 'video games'.
Noel actually brings up some pretty valid things there - what with the whole desensitisation of/overexposure to violence and death in all forms of media, the sudden, primal want for violence in people in modern society, the lack of foresight in these riots, the stupidity etc. All of those are valid points.
All of them.
Including the media one, which does include videogames.
I mean.....all of these things were already brought up in, oh, I dunno, nearly ever single novel written by Chuck Palahniuk of Fight Club fame, and in Camus' The Outsider, and in Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho. Just because the setting is suddenly real doesn't mean that we should discount a view because it involves something we like.
Admittedly - we shouldn't look for a scapegoat either, be it physical or psychological.
That said, this still doesn't excuse Noel Gallagher from his "Massive Twat" status - a status, which, I might add, was formally given to him by the Queen when he was born.
