There you go hope that helped ^_^
So, church-related terms are as offensive as "fuck" in Quebec? What if you just want to use, say, the word "caliss" without the verbally abusive connotations?tricky-crazy said:pretty much every swears in Quebec is an object from the church. Like say, the classic Tabarnak as my dear friend showed above is from the actual word ''Tabernacle''. Same as for the word caliss (Calice) which is a chalice.
I'll name a few French-Canadian swears
- Caliss (Calice)
- Osti (Ostie)
- Bâtard (Batard)
- Criss (Christ)
- Tabarnak (Tabernacle)
- Viarge (Vierge)
While there is some truth to the Flemish being more polite and humble than the Dutch, pretty much all the words you mentioned are in common use here as well, with the exception of 'kanker' and 'komodovaraan'. I mostly chose not to mention them in favor of terms specific to Flemish Dutch.ScorpionPrince said:Haha wow, as a dutchman I find many of these hilarious!chimpzy said:snip
Fun fact: A lot of dutch people view the flemish language as well as the people to be very polite and humble compared to the more blunt and forward dutch. The swear words seem comparatively mild, and to me, mostly original, which means its very amusing
Anyway, we dutch love to swear with diseases and genitals. Here we go:
Lul: Dick -> Used to describe someone who's a dick, basically.
Kut: **** -> Used as an expletive , both casually as in: "Aww that sucks" -> "That's ****" or to express anger when shouted.
Kutwijf: ****-***** -> Used to describe a nasty woman. Anything with "kut" in front of it is considered a rude way of saying that something sucks.
Kanker: Cancer(disease) -> Used as an expletive to express extreme anger. Almost nothing expresses more anger in the entire dutch language than a series of "kanker". Like "kut", can be used in conjunction with many words do describe that something is horrible.
Teringlijer: One who suffers from tuberculosis -> used to describe an asshole.
Mongool: It means both "Mongolian" as well as "person with downs syndrome". Not surprisingly, the latter meaning is inferred.
Sukkel: Idiot -> Used as a mild derogatory term.
Idioot: Idiot -> Stronger than "sukkel".
Shit: Shit -> Not used in curses, but an expletive borrowed from the english.
Fok: Fuck -> Only used in the same way as "shit" and "kut" never as a curse.
Randdebiel: Edge-retard -> Meaning full-retard, stronger than debiel on its own, meaning retard.
Mierenneuker: Ant-fucker -> Used to describe someone that is obsessed with minor details.
Kakker: Shitter -> Used to describe a posh person that likes to brag about how rich he/she is.
Now for the more inventive/rare ones:
Bosaap: Forest-ape -> Used to describe a slouch.
Baardaap: Bearded-ape -> Used to describe a dumb, bearded man.
Mislukte abortus/nageboorte: Failed abortion/afterbirth -> used to describe a person who has failed in life and should never have lived in the first place.
Komodoveraan: Komodo dragon -> Used to describe a person who drinks milk out of the carton, double-dip, or in any way spoil food by having its saliva touching it.
Verrekte zak hooi: Stretched bale of hay -> Used to describe an idiot. Old one.
Achterlijke dakhaas: "Retarded roof-hare -> Used to describe an idiot. Old one.
Note that most of these can be combined with each other, adding adjectives and nouns to create a nearly infinite supply of swear-words.
Gotta love the South Africans and their ability to come up with words that are so simple, yet so wonderfully descriptive.Blitsie said:The thing I love about Afrikaans expletives is how straight to the point and rough sounding it can be
fok = fuck
Kak = shit
Jou ma se poes = your mother's **** (the absolute worst one to say to any Afrikaans speaking person)
Poesneus = **** nose
Poesgesig = **** face
Doos = a ten times harsher version of 'douche'
Those are the best that come to mind.
what? and no mention of our tendencies to swear and cuss with diseases?ScorpionPrince said:snipperdesnipperdesnip

I also like "Himmel, Arsch und Zwirn!" which tanslates into "Heaven, arse and twine!" and is kinda antiquated form of "Fuck!". Come to think of it, we have a lot of uncommon but weird curses with heaven in them. And none of them seems to make any sense whatsoever. Like "Himmelarschlochsblauviolett!" ("heavenarsehole'sblueviolett", also used as "Damn!")
Here are some more common german curses:
nouns:
"Scheiße" - "shit"
"Wichser" - "wanker"
"Arschloch" - "arsehole"
"Bastard" - "fine Sir of noble heritage"
"Hurensohn" - "son of a whore"
"Hure", "Schlampe", "Nutte" - "whore", "*****" (as in prostitute)
"Zicke" - "*****" (as in bitchy girl)
"Arschgesicht" - "arse face"
"Arschgeige" - "arse fiddle/violin" (one of my favorites, it's basicly used like arsehole)
"Suchtie" - "junky" (though we also mainly use the word "junky"
"Fotze" - "****" (used on women and absolutely not a nice thing to say)
"Sonntagsfahrer" - "sunday driver" (used on bad drivers)
"Lutscher" - "sucker" (Not really common. "Lutscher" also means "lollipop")
"Opfer" - "victim" (mostly considered slang of the turkish-german youth and the hip hop scene)
"Pisser" - seems obvious
"Schweinehund" - "pig dog" ("Schwein" and "Hund" can be used separatly, of course)
"Gockel" - "cock" (as in the animal, used on someone vain)
kind requests:
"Fick dich" - "Fuck you"
"Fick dich doch ins Knie" - lit. "Go fuck yourself in the knee"
"Geh sterben" - "go dying"
"Verpiss dich" - "piss off"
"Hau ab" - lit. "beat lose" but normally used in the context of "to bunk" or as request for someone to "fuck off"
"Halt's Maul" - "hold your chops" (shut up)
"Kopf zu" or "Mach den Kopf zu" - lit. "head closed" or "close the head" (shut up)
"Fresse!" - "puss!" (shut up)
adjectives:
"hinterfotzig" - "rearward cunty.....ish" (???). Mostly used to describe someone who is talks behind your back and/or backstabs
"schwachsinnig" - "weak-sensed" (feeble-minded)
"blöd" - "silly" (or at least more "silly" than "stupid")
"dumm" - "stupid"
"armseelig" - "poor souled" (used as "pathetic")
"idiotisch" "idiotic" (duh)
"närrisch" - "foolish" (not really often used outside of the carnival)
"beschissen" - "shat upon" or "shitty"
Names for an idiots:
"Idiot" (duh)
"Hornochse" - "hornded ox"
"Trottel" - I have no idea how you could translate that
"Honk" - see above. (Perhaps it even originated from the english term "to honk". Fucked if I know)
"Hillie" - see above (Perhaps originated from the english "hillbilly"?
"Schwachkopf" - "weak head"
"Klapskopf" - "slap head"
"Flachpfeife" - "flat pipe"
"Knalltüte" - "bang bag" (sounds almost better in english)
"Knallkopf" - "bang head"
"Kloppie" - "Knocky" or "Scrapy", depending on wether the word originaten from "klopfen" (to knock) or "sich kloppen" ("to scrap" as in "to fight")
"Flachzange"- "flat nose pliers" (this is the term Dr Cox calls J.D. in the german version of Scrups btw.)
"Hirnie" - "brainy"
Not commomly used but amusing nontheless:
"Pissnelke" - "piss clove"
"Steckdosenbefruchter" - "inseminator of electric sockets" (This sounds just awesome in english)
I think that's all I can think of for now.
Verdammte Axt! (damned axe) I knew most of these. Well... "Sohn einer räudigen Gurke" is new on my List. Can't wait to use it.Calibanbutcher said:Snip

"Sesselpupser" - "armchair farter" (someone with an office job, mainly used for officials)
Quite uncommon (and Godwin invoking) is the term "Grö[x]az". It referenzes the wörd "Gröfaz" which is a joking term for Hitler. It's an acronym (of sorts) on "Größter Feldherr aller Zeiten" ("greatest commander of all times) as which he liked to be referred to. The [x] is to be replaced with something relevant. Let's say you work in a kitchen and the chef acts like is the most important thing in the world. In that case you may refer to him as "Gröcaz" ("Größter Chefkoch aller Zeiten", "Greates chef of all times").
It's not really common (outside of some cabaret), but worth mentioning nontheless.
Ei helvetin vitun saatanan perkelen paskaläjäbartholen said:Perkele = basically the finnish name for Satan. Not so strong, but a very common word, and packs quite a punch when yelled with appropriate rage.
Kilinvittu = Baby goat's ****. One of the more exotic ones I've heard (from my dad, no less).
Kullihuuli = Literal translation would be "Dicklip". This one I heard a lot during my 9-month military service, as the usual conversations often descended into who was gay. It was spoken entirely in a non-hostile, brothers bickering sort of way, and was never used as an actual homophobic slur, but it is still quite saucy IMO
Ruskean reiän ritari = "Knight of the brown hole". This one hardly qualifies as a swear, and it's more of a joke than an actual slur, but I consider it to be quite imaginative. Figure out for yourselves what it's supposed to mean.
Go nuts!
