All the hate on Norton never made much sense to me.

I used to use Avast, then I got shitstormed so bad my PC couldn't even load up.
Reinstalled, started using Norton and I haven't had any issues, whatsoever, since.
No emails hacked, no game passwords stolen, no nothin'.
A lot of the hate for Norton comes from how bloated it was getting. The rest came from the fact that as the largest AV viruses were often written specifically to get around it. Personally I haven't had a problem with Avast and have personally found it to be more effective and lighter on system resources than Norton, but no AV is 100% effective so I often supplement my Avast installation with other AVs. The greatest protection however is an educated user.

Norton's not the best so backup might be advised. But hell, for all the hate it's gotten it's saved my computer's ass from many of my antics.

Anyway try something else like Malware bytes anti- Malware, but in my opinion i think your safe, probably.

I ran Spybot Search And Destroy and it found one malware that Norton missed, anything else I should do?

possibly but I doubt it

get AVG or Avast
get CCleaner (yes 2 C's) and clean your files it'll wipe out anything left in .tmp format and anything recently downloaded

I would download and run Malwarebytes AntiMalware as well. It plays nice with other Antivirus/antimalware programs and picks up several things they miss.

I'm no expert but if it makes you feel safe keep running scans it can't really hurt, (as far as i know) and as i said i'm no expert but i and apparently others here think it might be a good idea to get malware bytes anti malware.

Ehh, Norton's not that great and most of the freeware isn't that much better.

Also, LOL MALWAREBYTES. I got a fucking virus through that thing. What an overhyped piece of crap.

Aren't trojans supposed to protect you from viruses?
Have you ever heard of The Iliad? In it, the greeks build a massive-ass wooden horse, and crap a bunch of soldiers in it and gift it to the Trojans. They then hid 'round the corner, so that the Trojans think it's a surrender gift. Anyways, when night comes, horsey opens up, reveals Greeks, who rape/murder/pillage/burn whatever they see, then open the Trojan Gates, which could not be broken down since it was built by gods, and all the ships came back 'round the corner and sacked the city. The horse is called a 'Trojan Horse'. The virus gets in your computer by pretending it's safe and good, then when it's inside Troy (Your Computer) It lets loose the Greeks (A shitload of viruses).

So no, it's not meant to protect against viruses.

1. I love how anti viruses have become the new consol war
2. I used norton and kodak easyshare (note I means I got to clean those out of my keepers computer). It drove me insane.
3. I have AVG and malware Bytes beacause I am cheap.

Good luck with your issue, if it says it stopped the virus you have to trust it, or in my case explain to your father what questions to ask the IT person at work because you obviously have no idea how this works you only set it all up and run it.

As long as your Norton is up-to-date, you're as safe as you can hope to be.
I beg to differ

I used Norton AV for 8 years and never once had a problem. (Now run Mac OS)
HAHAHAHAHA no wonder you have no troubles, Mac is so shitty, coders don't waste time making viruses for it.

No, get rid of Norton, Avast or AVG. Only use Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, and Spybot Search and Destroy(networking major here :p)

the new norton is just as good as anything. if makes your computer run slow if your computer is shitty, but if you don't have a shitty computer it runs fine.

I mean, back when I was a PC user I ran Norton and had no troubles. I don't use any AV now, since I've switched over to Mac.

You need to seriously consider giving your degree back, then.

...and Comodo Firewall.
MSE comes with one built in but I already have Comodo Firewall :p

And low and behold MSE has less false positives than Norton could dream about.
