While I get that they're a very... particular flavor, I'm surprised so many people are saying Ren and Stimpy and Cow and Chicken (and I saw mention of I Am Weasel which was in a similar vein). I guess a lot of people don't get into the really outlandish humor of the shows--there are definitely some episodes of Ren and Stimpy I can't stand to watch because they're so outrageously gross, but the good ones I find really good. And I guess I like Cow and Chicken because I'm a big fan of absurd humor (which it definitely was).
I think it was mostly me just not having a thing for gross out humor. Which those shows happened to use... A lot. Same thing has happened with Family Guy in recent times. I've just never been big on the gross humor. But I do stand them more than I used to, they just still rank lowest on the shows I look back on fondly.

Has someone mentioned Scooby Doo yet? Oh, it's been mentioned a dozen times over? Well... count me among the masses, I guess.
What about Spongebob? Hrm, at least a few mentions, eh? Bugger.

Most of what was on Nickelodeon, really. I don't know, between Animaniacs and Batman/Superman, by the time we finally got cable, all the Nickelodeon shtick just came across as being... childish. Strange thing to say, I know, but that's how I felt.

Isn't it strange how we all distinguish these cartoons? Some are just old cartoons, but some are "nostalgic" and that makes them sacred. You, person reading this right now, consider this: When you were reading the other posts in this thread, did you feel a twinge of irritation for anybody who spoke ill of a cartoon you personally enjoyed? Why? And no, I will not offer hypothetical explanations, I'm leaving that up to you.
Food for thought.

Dragon Ball Z. I hated that show with a passion and only watched it cause more awesome cartoons came up after it aired.

Now I regret watching most shows I watched as a kid.

It was not until the much lauded Cybertron trilogy that we saw the modern forms of the characters. They did not exist in earlier iterations.
Are you from some parallel universe where those shows didn't for the most part suck the fat one? Man when I hang over at TFW, its a stretch to find a kind word to say about Energon, and Armada and Cybertron tend to divide folks. The highest rated shows for this series if you don't include G1 are Beast Wars, Animated and for reasons I will never fucking fathom: Transformers Prime.

Most of the Cybertron Trilogy are treated like whipping boys; hell my favourite was Armada and I fully realise that had Starscream not been such a fucking cool character, the show would have been a total waste of time.

Was it this one perhaps

If the thinks Shadow Raiders was a bad show, I'd love to know what he calls a good one because I have watched that show time and again, and it only disappoints in its brevity and the occasional hilarity caused by the dated CGI. This show was well written, interestingly plotted and was awash with awesome stuff, and truly heart rending stuff like this:

I have seen few shows with moments are emotionally charged and wonderfully scored as this/

I don't hate the original series of Pokemon but too many people I know look back on it a little too fondly. I don't quite understand why there's so many people that claim to only enjoy the original incarnation of the Pokemon TV series, yes, I can view the original series with rose-tinted glasses too sometimes, but I still found some enjoyment in the more recent series.

As for all this Scooby-Doo hate, I adore most of the older, Hanna-Barbera cartoons.

Probably most of the old-school Hanna-Barbera cartoons. I'm sorry, it's just... I dunno. It does bother me how they essentially remade the same series over and over and over again back in the day...

...people actually find Regular Show entertaining? Oookay then. I strongly disagree.

I can't stand Invader Zim. Cow and Chicken was alright and I never watched Ren and Stimpy, but Invader Zim just grinds my nerves in a way I never thought possible with a cartoon. How the entire show is played out is just gross, stupid, shock humor, with a whole lot of screaming nonsense. I was the clearly too old for the show when it first came out, and ever since it has just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Now that I think about it, I never liked Rokko's Modern Life either. It was just...dumb.

Pretty much any of the 1950's/60's/70's-era Hanna-Barbera cartoons i.e. Scooby-Doo, the Flinstones, and the Jetsons.

They all just... were never that good in my eyes. Not really funny or entertaining, just boring and slightly annoying. Plus I find it rather annoying how unnatural the animation can be sometimes (because of course, when people are talking they always bob their head up and down after every few words). I never really could understand why they ended up being so popular...

That Rocket Power show on Nick. You know, the one with all of those radical skateboarders and stuff like that?

Never liked it one bit. Just so... blegh.

To be fair, I haven't actually watched the show since I was young (when I still watched such things on tv). I'm going by what I remember, and what I remember is not liking the show at all. Besides, personal preference and all that jazz.

Oh, yeah. Though there were episodes of Ren and Stimpy that barely featured that type of humor (and I'd say those are the ones I enjoyed the most). I can't speak for Cow and Chicken, as I haven't seen any of the episodes in ages. I just know it was a completely outrageous show, and that I liked it despite that.

I used to watch Scooby-doo as a kid a LOT and now I can't see why. I NEVER like it. I don't remember laughing or finding any of it entertaining at all. What the hell?

I also didn't like the bizarre cartoons that for some reason have huge fanbases like Ren and Stimpy or Cow and Chicken. I find them both kind of stupid.
Cow and Chicken has a following? It was a really dumb show, if you ask me. Ren and Stimpy was the horrible bastard child of "too sketchy humor for kids" and "too random and scatological for adults."

I don't like Animaniacs or much else surrounding them, really. (Wasn't there a pack of cartoons that came on around the same time as Animaniacs?).

Also, and I count this kind of as cartoony: the Muppets. I never, ever, ever liked the Muppets. Seriously, why does everyone care? You can see the poles holding their arms up, for one, and that always bothered me as a kid. For another, their humor is stupid and I never find them doing much of interest.

I will now be nerd-dom's biggest heretic and say I also really didn't like Invader Zim.

I liked HB shows. Not all of them but mainly Scooby Doo and the mystery stuff.

Captain Planet, I was indiffrent about it till I found out they canned Swat Kats for more CP.

I like Scooby Doo :(

But I can see why people don't. It was very repetitive. But, I'm a sucker for mysteries
It's always the innocent middle aged-elderly man who owns the "haunted" place.

Still,I loved the physical humor as a kid, and it still holds some charm to me.

I did. But, that's just because I really like those shows. You're not suggesting I'm just nostalgic about them, are you?

I second the Pokemon series. There has to be only one thing of value for that show and that was "getting to see the Pokemon fighting in action".

You had to relate to those characters to appreciate it. Otherwise I can see why others would find it boring.

Lol I actually liked Scooby Doo,(particularly old SD), but just about every cartoon designed for kids I hated at the time. I also didn't have cable tv so I didn't watch them much anyway.
