... and it's the Slender Man

He revealed the picture on his google+ recently.

So, any thoughts on this? One thing I noticed is that they seem to be able to build, judging by the block in his hands.

(Here's the link if the image doesn't work) https://plus.google.com/photos/116872576248355504859/albums/5633695778953772113

EDIT: got photo to work, woo.

EDIT encore:
This is what we know (or think we know) about the Endermen so far:

They are able to pick up and move blocks.
They will stop moving when spotted, and will charge at you, using teleportation to go faster, once you look away.
It is heavily inspired by the slenderman, and the Weeping Angels form Doctor Who.
They are really damn scary.

He walked through his nice, cobblestone house, storing his mining gear and most recent stash of diamonds, when Steve caught something out of the corner of his eye. Expecting a spider to have fallen off the unlit roof of his house, he turned towards the large glass window that looked out over the cliff. Standing there on the single block ledge, looking back, was this long limbed, unnaturally skinny, black /thing/. He jumped two blocks in to the air, barely keeping a yelp of fear from spilling out of his mouth. For a moment, he stared at it, and it stared right back, as if it were sizing him up.

Then it started taking down the window.

Personally, I think it's awesome. Adds an element of 'creepy' to a game with creepers.

Wow, that was well written, especially for being done in under 5 minutes. (I am terrible at writing, so I envy those who are good :D)

There's plenty more sand, just get another square of it. Share your sand and he wont murder your cake. I think this is really cool. Wonder if it is aggressive.

Something tells me 1.8 will get very interesting, monsters disassembling buildings and the landscape in general. Alongside the addition of NPC towns like the Millenue mod. Setting up lethal traps will start to become a critical point of maintaining a castle.

It'd be nice if they were friendly mobs that came out at night, to offset all the nonfirendly ones. And if they can build, it'd be super creepy if they just built houses all night, then left them abandoned in the morning, so you could stumble upon ghost towns every so often.

It's the principle of the thing. There may be 1.3*10^9 cubic feet of sand there, but he took one of my pieces, without even asking. :<

Well fuck, I know I'll be playing on friggin' Peaceful now. First time I watched an excellently montaged vid about the whole Slenderman spiel, in the dark while I was home alone. Traumas I tell you... Why do you have to do this to me Notch, whyyyy!!!

He or she or whatever they are don't seem hostile but they do seem like jerks that will steal things from my house.

One of the scariest moments I've had in Minecraft was once when I was digging away and I paused, and I could have sworn that I heard someone or something else digging toward me.

(This is on singleplayer, of course)

If Notch introduces a mob that can destroy your blocks and break through walls (and let's face it, he's going to sooner or later) it will instantly become the most hated and feared mob in the game.

It will also be awesome.

Hoping it'll have some limitations, like, can only carry sand-planks in terms of weight.
If I do start playing again having to constantly repair my house would get annoying quickly.

Unfortunately, no word on hostility or any real info. He only posted the picture on his google+ with the words "The new mob I've been working on is a bit creepy..."

Captcha: how quaint
I suppose that captcha has made its feelings on this known.

I really hope it doesn't take apart buildings.. creepers are bad enough.

However if it builds things to get over your walls etc? that would be awesome.

That would be creepy and great! Would like to have!

I'd really rather not have some mod taking apart my house after I've finished building it. That'd be a bit douchey.

Let's face it, it'll be more hated than anything else. In a game about having your own private world and building whatever you want a critter that rearranges your environment and breaks your stuff is about as welcome as somebody who stomps on sandcastles is at the beach.
