when i was a kid, we could do all kinds of crazy shit, but now the government forbids it because someone might get hurt... no pain no gain. Fucking nanny state.

The above is something many kids have heard from their grandparents at some point or other, (though maybe with a tad bit more truth to it).

So this begs the question:

What kind of advice, and/or anecdotes will you be passing on to your children if you ever get any?

I'm going to do the same as this guy

Back in my day New Zealand accepted it's position in the world, none of this domination through sheep mallarchy-yes they were the days.

Back in my day the closest thing we had to time-travel was Doctor Who and a paper-bag full of gasoline! And if we would've been blessed with the magnificent time-machines you ungrateful little smegs (by decree of the 2036 newspeak revision bill which many considered double-plus ungood) have today WE WOULD'VE USED THEM FOR SOMETHING BETTER THAN TROLLING FORUMS AND BEING ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH IT...I remember half of the screen-names you little sods used from my youth.

Back in my day music had singing, you hear that, singin'! None of this producing a single-note and carrying it through the entire song with auto-tune and remixing bollocks.

"Don't believe everything you think!"

That's the main thing I'm going to remind them of.

Ohh, and maybe not to strangle people with a trouser snake!

Dan, ninjad. I would have to say this, even to gamers of this age.

For my kids in 10 years or so? Hmm..

"Back in my day, games had single player modes!"

Seeing a girl's ribs isn't bad. Some people are just built like that. Ribs are no worse than huge boobs. It's just people who think that something like that is the only standard for beauty who ruin it for everyone else.

When we were lads, there was still grass, bushes and trees. Green. All of 'em. Green represented nature, not atomic power, and it didn't give us nausea to go outside.

Back in my day, yelling into a mic was melodic and actually worked with the music (AC/DC).

When I was a lad, Cartoon Network didn't make you want to flood the enrichment center with a deadly neurotoxin.

shame, AND you did it after being ninja'd
also, negative points for including the video

In my day, meatspin was a dark rumor, and throughout the land, it was ALWAYS peanut butter jelly time.

Music was colorful and evolving.

The Nintendo 64 rocked everyone's socks, and the Dreamcast terrified us all with its magic and heroism.

Cartoons were excellent, and Power Rangers were the ultimate authority in the universe

My advice? Hope it all turns out for the best, then watch Powerpuff girls. There are few sources of happiness more pure that are legal in this country

When I was a young warthog...

*Cough*... *Cough* Sorry, that's not right.

When I was a young boy people cared about the space/time continuum! Why, if I got caught changing the order of Tuesday and Wednesday or hunting dinosaurs or inspiring Einstein the time cops would be all over me. And that would be if I was lucky, if my dad found me first it'd be much worse.
