The second sentence removes the need for the first. If America doesn't HAVE a severe problem (stacked against other nations) there's no reason to ask the question.

But you know what? At least the US has a birthrate of over 2.0 however it got there, so in a few hundred years IT might still exist. What do all the free-living, latex-wrapped Europeans have to say about that?

Context is required for the first part. As I continued saying, this thread is about America, so I was trying not to get off topic. I still felt like pointing out that America is not alone.

As for the birthrate, the world is overpopulated as it is. And most European countries have over 2.0 as far as I know. The countries in Scandinavia do at least, and that's where I'm from. We have the perfect population for our size according to me.

My own theory (and it is just a theory) is that teen pregnancy is linked to boredom. Teenagers in small towns (or from low socio-economic backgrounds) are more likely to get pregnant than those from larger cities or who have greater access to, well, stuff. Nudity is an easy target because the link seems obvious.

It starts with the hypocracy that the children are told to obstain from sex, yet you can't look anywhere in America without seeing something sexual. The problem is that sex ed classes in this country are not teaching about safe sex or birth control. Schools are not even telling children not to use condoms because they don't work. Then they wonder why more teens are getting pregnant. When I was a freshman in high school, they showed us how to put on a condom. I don't have any kids... Coincidence?

It appears you have talked to the wrong US citizen. For some reason our general public has a fear of nudity and advertises a zero-tolerance policy for teen-pregnancy but behind the curtain, its stupid, scared parents who dont think that their 17 year-old son shouldnt be exposed to this material (even though I think its healthy for that age) and people who just like to say shit but in the end dont give a fuck about teen-pregnancy. I am completely fine with teenagers and un-weds having sex, just practice safe sex if ya dont want kids

Your people sure fail at life and anything I can think of. o_O

well, and the pregnancy issue sounds really just like that "teens" want to know about the forbidden. haha.

In Britain, we're a lot more relaxed, and my boyfriend who lived in America for a while said the only sort of show that showed nudity was Nip/tuck. Apparently America don't have a watershed too? Everything is censored, whereas 9:30pm is watershed over here, where the ruder shows come on TV and no one bats an eye lid.
I think we're the worst for teenage pregnancies though, but I'm not sure.
Thats really due to how our weather is shitty, so what else are you supposed to do with someone in your house?

Its because in America we stress abstinence so much that people don't have protection on them when it comes time to bone

I do not know what french morals are, but I imagine that people are safer there because its less taboo. I was talking to a european girl and she was talking about sex in a very casual manner

In this day and age, sex is sold, and everyone wants it (not in a prostitutional way).
which is a real shame since prostitution could easily help the U.S. out of the recession we've been complaining about for...how many years has it been now? Personally, the sight of genitalia grosses me out. Maybe everyone else feels the same? Still, it's paradoxical to shun the sight of conception, skin-flaps and, mushroom caps and yet on the other hand, condone and even glorify dismemberment and, exploding heads and such.

Maybe in a parallel universe, Grand Theft Auto was given the damming AO before we got the second installment whereas, Leisure Suit Larry is a multi-billion dollar franchise with it's T - M ratings...Meanwhile you can import Japanese visual novels based around ultra-violence where heads explode and expel copious amounts of spaghetti and peeled grapes.

Look to how we were founded. Puritans came here because of religious persecution. This is because the puritan religion if extremely fucked up. Sex is an abomination and if one isn't suffering he or she will go to hell. Their fear of hell lead to burnings of several different groups based on accusations, lifestyles, or specific events.

Because the US was founded on the belief that demonized sex and embraced violence, the people tend to hold on to that culture.

EDIT:

Since it's more taboo then in other countries kids don't want to tell any adults about it, and that may apply to buying condoms.

Also some guy I know was saying that he got carded trying to buy condoms, apparently its up to the retailer whether you have to be 18 to buy them so in some areas it may be impossible to get them without talking to your parents.

Perhaps its me being as warped as possible, but I believe that plain and simple there need to be less people on this earth, the smaller the strain on resources, the more progress we can make each generation. If I needed to die so that the progress of colonizing other planets and saving out gene pool was needed, I would be all to happy to sterilize myself for the good of this earth. But yes, murder in mass form, I support much more than families starting by being silly rebels.

Yes we do have a nice population considering our size. But we do not have a birth rate over 2.1 our population growth is maintained through immigration not birth. Norway is (last I checked) at 1.8 which is not enough. (2.1 required)

I hate that "the world is overpopulated" crap. "Overpopulated" means about as much as "overweight." It implies that somebody somewhere has the authority to declare what a proper population is. It sounds all clever to be so misanthropic until you're the one living through a population crash. Ever been in one of those Japanese villages where nobody's under 60? I have. I don't want to live in a nation or a world like that.

And you're quite wrong about the numbers. Scandinavian countries are all ranked in the 150s out of 195. VERY marginally above the EU as a whole, which would be ranked 158th if it were a country. Your population is graying and crashing, I'm sorry to say. Not as badly as Hong Kong maybe, but you're not reproducing enough to maintain your numbers.

Loose sexual practice in countries leads to people having more knowledge. They get better educated on stuff and know what they're doing. They get less diseases and less unwanted pregnancies. This is a simple known fact.
