Returning to the topic...
I think that the gifts were well thought of.
Usually gifts connected with the culture of the host nation are given. And thus Poland gave a bit of their artistic side. Little pieces of great cinematography on that ipad, great literature and a great game.
All parts of the artistic heritage (believe it or not, games are also that) and at the same time modern and original. Not some boring crafts or some bulky 500-year old national epics. But great, modern entertainment.
The only downside is that iPad. Sure it's an American product, Obama probably has a few, but this was probably given only to be more prestigious than a CD or a pendrive with those movies ;p
