He had Rove and Cheney, he didn't need experience.
He also had a dad. and if you have a look at his portfolio he was the governor of texas.
And in obamas favour he was a senator for a while.
Does all that qualify as experience? I dunno. It could all be just fancy titles for all I know.

That is the jist of the reason he was elected. His supporters were so vocal, and the media demonized McCain so much (and he did himself in with Palin).

Also, Clinton was blacker than Obama.

McCain was probably hoping he could play the same game as Obama with the minority thing when it came to Palin. "Well he's got all the blacks, thank god he isn't female or he would have all the bases covered."
But the feminists were like "Woa, she didn't abort her baby?? That is so discusting, she isn't the sort of woman we want in power."

This is obviously a hugely dramatized and abbreviated account of events.

Well, Palin had a big past to her. The liberal media basically tore her to SHREDS! Even when she did something good, they made it bad.
McCain didnt know much about her, and was going for the christian and female base with her. It back fired.
I say he should of gone with RON PAUL. He would of won everything.

Every election, hell, every single time someone vote at all it's a popularity contest of a sort, but that doesn't mean that Obama was elected just because he looked good, but that more people put their trust in his platform, than McCain's. It's not like McCain tried very hard, did he?

He gets all that way, sits down in front of all his people "You know what, screw this whole election thing, I have been preparing for a year or more now, and my friends on WoW are wondering where I went. I think I'm going to train my mage again. Bye."

Oh no, people running for public office having their personal lives investigated? What's this country coming to?!

(I am interested in what you think she did that was good, besides inspiring some great SNL episodes.)

Bush was more like a punching bag.. but with words. I wonder if he does counciling now, or he just doesn't allow A TV and newspaper in his house.

I don't think that was the point he was making. But the media is a fickle thing. The New Zealand was extremely biased, although it sorta blew up in their face when the person they were trying to villianize won.
an independent group in Australia did a study of our media during the election, they concluded it was the most biased coverage ever. I coulda told them that.
Lol, complete subject shift.

No I meant that as in

"Why" Bush was also a celebrity, try turning on the news or say his name in a disscussion while he was in office, hes well known worldwide, that makes him a celeb
ah ok, lol, I guess comas do come in handy for sentence comprehension after all. My bad. He was portrade more like an anti hero, rather than a johnny depp type celeb though.

So apparently, so long as he is not Bush you're okay with it? I didn't like Bush either, but we had worse presidents in our history. We had FDR who drove America into a great depression, and then we had JFK who actually went to war with Cuba giving Castro $54 million dollars and Vietnam, losing both wars. The only thing people remember from JFK was that he was shot in the head. I have asked people about JFK and that is all they remember about it. Pity.
Do a little research. Hoover sent us into the depression, then FDR came in, and helped fix the economy with the New Deal (I say helped because WWII is really what got us out).

I'm sick of seeing him as the top story on every news program. Yes, he's black and he's the president, good for him. What else happened today?

It also seems that when it comes to Obama every single reporter and news anchor loses all objectivity and becomes a full-on fangirl. Every time they talk about him on the Today show I expect the anchors to start squealing.

Mostly I'm tired of everyone judging the man as either a saint or sinner when he hasn't even really done anything yet. Give him a year, then start with the "best/worst president evar".
This is my main problem
I think that the bias towards him will distort most peoples views on how/what he will do
and I honestly didn't want this to be a Racist/Bad president thread I was mainly just curious to see how many other people see what I see

@ itsoutthere, define 'experience' that you would consider necessary to be president. A life-long politician, compromising ethics to please lobbyists and voters too disinterested for all but platitudes? Maybe a military career, which proves that one is loyal to the country and good a doing what one is told, but not much else? As Dream points out, he has law experience, teaching experience, and is well known for being a successful community organizer in a city where success is always hard-won.
In my opinion that's an incredibly biased definition of 'experience'
If Obama is any bit the man most people see him as he could have experience and still remain true to his word and goal
I do want to say this, I am completely open to (and hoping) that Obama will be a great president, but personally I don't see this happening until people realize he's not tabloid fodder.
I think he's going to make mistakes (not the first president to do so) and I think because of the mistakes he may make it will put things in perspective, and maybe then he will be able to prove to everyone (including myself) that he deserved the position

*edit*
Used opinion twice... it bugged me xD

On paper yes, and he was surrounded by people more than qualified on paper to be president, yet they failed miserably.
As to quote Robin Williams, "he's George 2.0 and still has a few bugs in the system."

Yeah, Obama is a celebrity, but at least America voted for someone who won't run them into the ground.
