Obama is more like Jimmy Carter than JFK, ah well hopefully it will keep him out of Dallas where I live.
You keep telling yourself that. And in time you will be proven wrong.

Take your gay discussion to another thread, you're cluttering up Obama's victory thread.
Yes, please Seesker, there are a few threads on being gay and similar subjects. Go there to be bigoted and hateful.

California is pretty disappointing at the moment: with 29% of precints reporting [http://vote.sos.ca.gov/Returns/props/59.htm], propositions 2, 8, and 9 are all passing at the moment. Together those indicate that Californians would rather enact feel-good measures (crazy feel-good measures that will do a lot of economic and social damage to California) than actual progressive social policy.

I've also heard, tentatively, that Bachmann got reelected. Again, not a good show for the US.

I've been reading up on Prop 8 *Is Australian* and it seems like it's a pretty insensitive thing to do. I'm actually offended that this has been supported and gone through your parliament. Please vote no!

Nah Im just pissed off tired and bored, im going to bed.

Also calling someone a bigot is a cop out. Ah well nothing will change, just one politician for another, its just this one so happens to be black which somehow makes him special and hyped up. Ive never understood why people put so much importance on race.

Other than it being a historical day that will be remembered forever in American history I suspect most of us do not care about Obama's race. He is eloquent, intelligent, wise, creative, inspiring, and very official in nature. He would make a great President if he were white, black, or green.

Also it seems like you are pretty right wing by your apparent attitude. I doubt you would be so dismissing of this victory if it were McCain that had won.

there are plenty of reasons that people should or shouldn't have voted for him.

His race should really be the very last thing on anyones mind.

Actually yeah I would, I never liked McCain, he was just the slightly lesser of two evils from my point of view. We have had to pick the lesser of two evils for the past several elections and I really wish we could have an election between two people who wont do their very best to damage the country as much as they can but then again im not much of an idealist.

Also every Presidential election can be considered historical since every Presidential election is recorded...or are you saying this one is historical because Obama just so happens to be black (big deal).

Please read your comment, homosexuality is an act, not a group of people.
Getting ashes put on your head in the form of a cross is an act, not a group of people, either, but if you're Catholic, that 'act' is protected.
Oh, and the point is driven home like a stake.

You clearly don't know anything about green people, the scum of the earth. ;D

Its a State thing, and well its actually quite surprising that it got passed because of California's reputation.

Are you kidding? I mean... on a theoretical level, sure. It doesn't matter. In reality though... it's a huge deal. It's a public recognition of the fact that a black person is as valuable to America as a white person. Huge deal. I think so, at least.

Big deal? The first none white man elected President after 43 men in the office in 232 years? Are you serious? Please say you are not serious. This election will be read about in history books for hundreds of years. That is a fact.

You think that is a huge deal, wow where have you been.

I will say this though. Now that Obama is going to be President I can justify punching someone in the face who tries to make the argument that whitey is keeping the black man down. Im sorry but that argument never worked and it especially wont work now. This means that theoretically, racists like Jesse Jackson should be out of the job but a con artist like him will find a way to stay in business.

Really and here I thought they were called homosexuals, I had no idea that the people were called homosexuality. Oh thank you ever so much for setting me straight.
Clearly this person is
1. a troll.
2. someone of severe mental deficiency.
3. trying to be funny.
4. someone who doesn't understand the words they use.
Take you pick it doesn't really matter.
But s/he does serve as a good way for me to make my points that one, homosexuality is less of a choice than religion, and that two, we protect not only being of a religion, but the *acts* associated with that religion, so, s/he's useful, because people always forget how different religion is from race, yet we protect them just the same.
Once again you fail to realize that Homosexuality is not a religion. Of course that raises the question of what would happen if some crazy idiot like, I dont know, a science fiction author tried to make a religion around homosexuality to justify the act. Then they could get Tom Cruise to join, oh wait never mind...

Axia, of course it will be read about, just like all the other Presidential elections in U.S. History, or are you saying that this election should get its own chapter just because Obama just so happened to be born Black.

My point is an individual should be judged on merit, not on race. After all isnt that with MLK said. "Quality of character, not color of skin." Once you realize that then Obama's election is no more significant than any other so I do not understand why people make a big deal out of it.

It's strange that nobody's posted the Barack Roll link on youtube yet. Still, good job, America. Now get as many bodyguards discreetly near him as possible. Tis possible that every redneck for a hundred miles will be gunning for Obama.
