Christ, I remember when it first came out it ate up SO MUCH of my life, I had characters with which i had literally depleted the map. It's still one of only a handfull of games for which I have all the acchievements.

Also Khajit are like the coolest Humanoids EVER

Its been over 11 years since I took those first steps out of Kokiri forest and into Hyrule Field with OoT.

I still remember it like yesterday, walking out into that huge open world (for back then it was huge) was a moment that defined why OoT was so amazing and so ahead of its time.

The truth has been spoken (except for the Portal stuff, but hey, that's your opinion). The engine that Bethesda is using is terrible. The controls are floaty, combat is boring and simple, there are so many glitches and bugs, but we let them get away with it for some reason. And this gives me an idea...

4 years isn't really that much considering gaming itself is only about 40 years old I believe.

Loved Oblivion, have the expansion packs. Beat the main quest. Still playing it. Tried FO3 several times and just couldn't get into it. Maybe perhaps, for me, it is too close to something that might actually happen, whereas Oblivion isn't.

that post everyone quoted...
I've got some 20 hours into Oblivion (I give games a very fair chance before I drop them) and will never play it again, I realized I was just going around doing nothing in a world I didn't care about one iota, with people who were invariably uninteresting with a level system that made no sense (so the best way to optimize your character is to have him specialize in skills you don't plan to use? Um, what?).

After all the greatness I'd heard about Portal it was extremely underwhelming. Especially that final song, what is the big deal here?

And don't get me started on Half-Life 2. I prefer to play its vastly better cousin HL1.

Fallout 3 though I enjoyed quite a lot, buggy but cool atmosphere, could've used better music though. But then I turn off the music in every game I play after a few hours or so. Main quest was naff but side quests were quite interesting. And a number of random locations are awesome. Like that sniper in the church, the madman in a barn, the detergent trap in a super market... Yeah I dig that game.

It's been a whole decade since the PS2 came out! Is that not even more shocking?

Though, I find it funny, when Oblivion was being hinted at, how everybody was saying it was like the best graphics of all time. That changed fast. VERY fast.

Still, when the PS2 came out, I remember there were people saying how great the graphics were. Some people saying the PS3 when it comes out will probably look like real life.
Even more shocking PS2 still has games to be released and the consoles are still being manufactured :p it aint dead yet!

I know, and isn't it hard to believe the battle of berlin was just 65 years ago?! o_O

I mean... yeah... long time... go make games bethesda.

Except they are aren't they? Fallout 3, all the dlc's and now new vegas.

You can't really blame them for focusing on something else for a bit after spending all their time on TES since 1992 (that's 18 years for your information!)

If i spent 18 years working on a single series i would need a coffeebreak too. :p

Simpsons started 21 years ago. (23 if you count the Tracey Ullman show)

Mario/Donkey Kong and Princess Peach are nearly 30.

Sonic is 19, Kirby is 18, Link's 24, Duke Nukem is 19.

I can hear the screams now ;)
30 years old? Has it really been that long? Man, I just hope they can handle their mid-life crisis.

Oh come on man, it wasn't that bad. But you are right about the blade connection... Which is probably why i had a lvl 60 ranged when my character was lvl 3.
And i didn't say that Morrowind was the better game, only that it had better maps.

...And I still play it regularly. Mods mean that the level of customisation is insane, and keeps it fresh. I've probably sunk almost 1000 hours into that game.

just like I still play 1st and 2nd gen Pokemon, with my original savegames. My friends and I still play eachother with our ridiculously powerful, ancient (in gaming years) pokemon. I find I have an inability to put a good game down permanently.
