I max out on two spells, one that gives weakness to all magic elements, and then another that does the damage over a period of time, weakness spells hardly cost anything and by making it touch both spells are pretty affordable.

i had boots that would cause 5 fire damage over time, and i would wear it with a hat with gave me 5 health over time, it looked pretty cool. i remeber trying to make a dupe spell,
my friend told me you can have a conjure gold spell, any truth to that?

-Blazing Speed (self and target): increased speed by a percent but also lit you on fire.

-Burning Rage (self and target): cause Frenzy but also lit on fire.

-Slow Burn (target): caused burden and drain strength to make them stand still... and lit them on fire.

-Human Torch (self and target): cast light on self or target and lit them on fire

-Cauterize (self and target): lit target on fire but also healed for slightly more than the fire damage.

My caster was a bit of a pyromaniac...

My favorite spell is actually embedded in the PC version, and can only be accessed from a cheat(activating command prompt in-game using ~). Incidentally, did you know that everything that can damage you that isnt a melee attack or arrow is actually a spell? When you stand in a fire, it's actually continually casting Campfire(touch). That makes the most powerful spell in the game the Oblivion dimension lava effect. You can cast it, and it WILL obliterate all non-hard mode enemies and all non-boss hard enemies in one hit. Unfortunately, it's an AOE spell and can hurt you too. Best used from afar.
I think it actually cost 0 points to cast, so yeah an infinite death cannon of hellfire as long as you have the pc version and arent above the "unlock all spells" code.

If you are the arch-mage of the mages guild then you should be able to go up to the arch-mages room then turn right and you should see something that looks like the enchanting stand, there you can make the spell(this is an xbox 360 response).

Now you people have done it. I've resolved to play Oblivion again but THIS time I'm doing the opposite of what I usually do. Magic not arms. Cloth, not armor. Hell, I'll even go Elf and not Human.

I don't make many in Oblivion. But in Morrowind, I like to make Jump spells, 100 points, 3 seconds. Really fun.
Doesn't that kill you when you hit the ground though? I thought you usually had to mix that with Slow Fall?

Heheheh, I'm still annoyed they didn't let you make a "Recall on Target" spell.

I have six custom spells that I use:

Restore Fatigue 3pts for 1sec on self
Drain Fatigue 3pts for 1sec on self
Light 3ft for 1sec on self
Detect Life 3ft for 1sec on self
Shield 3% for 1sec on self
Bound Gauntlets for 1sec on self

Combined with KCAS, any character even at Lv1 can be a magic-using powerhouse.
Why would you want to drain your own fatigue? [I was never a big magic user in Oblivion. If I misunderstood what you meant, forgive me :S]
The point of all those spells is to train the various spell school skills - they have 1 point costs, so you can spam them constantly as you walk around and rapidly advance your magic casting skills. The drain fatigue one is for training the destruction.
Damn, I never thought of using Drain Fatigue... I made a 1dmg/1s fire spell on self, spammed that until I was almost dead, then used a 1p/1s healing spell on self back to full :p

i got all horned up over the idea of making custom spells, but when i looked at the wiki, i realized that spellcasting is all about combos that exploit the way magic and elemantal resistances work.

I just use spells to bypass annoying minigames like lockpicking and speech. Magic is overpowered to the point of killing the fun in the game for me. I prefer the agile warrior setup.

Burden 100 for 10 sec on touch
Drain Strength 100 for 10 sec on touch
Paralyze for 10 sec on touch

Excessiveness is always nice XD

My serious spell is 40 shock damage for 15 sec on touch, alled it assassinator, useful in dark brotherhood :D
