Thanks again for the site, added to my favourites, very useful.

And my computer hits in-between the minimum an recommended..

Would that be worth it?
If you lowered some of the settings then yeah, that would be fine.
It says for recommender that the problem is my video card and reccomends me to buy another..
However..

God, the mod Brotherhood of Shadow for KOTOR and it's sequel, Solomon's revenge equal out to almost 11 hours of story-driven gameplay. Awesome.

For now almost 4 years, oblivion is amongst the few games that are constantly installed on my PC(s), and i always love coming back to it after a month or two of just letting it simmer :D
there's some things that can drag the game down, yet the pros more than make up for that, modded or not.
and although some people (well, most that i talk about it with) think the construction set is unintuitive, unneccessarily complicated and broken, i enjoy creating new environments and stuff just as much as i enjoy playing it afterwards :)

I have to recommend The Lost Spires, it adds a new guild, has some voice acting (Which surprised the hell out of me), and it adds about 15 hours of gameplay even cheating to go through it, so there's a hell of a lot more than some of the vanilla guilds.

I've dabbled in mods, but I'm usually drawn towards the superficial ones that give me novelty or uber powerful weapons. If I knew which mods to get to make the game more authentic/challenging/refreshed, then I'd probably still play it today.

The PC version with mods is always superior. I know there will be people out there who wanna play the game as is but mods make it so much less like pulling teeth.

Never played Oblivion with mods since I play on the 360, but I have played Morrowind with mods and I can tell you it was fun. Playing modless for the moment because last time I got a little mod-happy and I think I may have corrupted my PC a little.

Anyway, one mod which I will be looking forward to for years and years: Tamriel Rebuilt .

I recently bought Elder Scrolls IV on Steam, now I already own the game on the 360 and while I did enjoy it, I felt that mods could reinvigorate what is fundamentally a great game.

I was surprised by how good it would be. Don't like enemies leveling to you? Get an overhaul mod like Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, no more bandits in daedric armour! Don't like the crappy HUD and menus system? There's a mod for that! Race mods, body mods, armour mods, my female assassin actually looks like a woman, not an ape! There's a mod that adds new landmarks to the world, it no longer feels like a copy and paste forest! I am thoroughly enjoying the game, more than I ever did on the 360.

So, fellow escapists, regale me with your tales of games you liked that were vastly improved by a good modding community.
I know this isnt what you asked, but i myself have been thinking about getting oblivion for pc after playing it to death on my 360, so care to answer me this, how easy are mods to install, are they buggy, and how much did you pay, thanks in advance.

My oblivion is probably more mod than original game. While the modding comunity at tesnexus can accomplish fantastic things, (one of my characters turns into a god damn werewolf on full moons and I have a whole new continent to explore) a worrying amount of effort is put into making female characters boobs bounce realistically when naked and adding fully functioning brothels.

Favourite mods are:

Elsweyr the deserts of Anequina: Still in development with no quests but adds a huge land with many new creatures.

Curse of hircine: Adds a werewolf disease triggered on full moons. If you dont eat someone you get weak for the next day.

LTD vampire overhaul: Makes vampirism generally more intersting.

There are so many others but if i listed them all this post would probably outstay its welcome.

Well I got back into Fallout 3 after downloading 4gb worth of mods, only to have my file erased. I got so mad that a deleted the game and all the mods. About a month or two after that, I found my file again, but it was in a random music folder. Really strange, and I sure as shit didn't move it there.

I've been wanting to play Oblivion again. Do you think you could recommend me some mods?
I can recommend you an excellent shit-load of mods. PM me and I'll list you some of the ones I have that best improve my experience, considering I've sunk over 70 hours searching for mods, and over 300 hours playing the game.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy was like that for me.

It had so many new player models, skins, weapons, custom lightsabers, maps, and vehicles that it kept me busy much longer than the unmodded version would have. Hell, I liked it so much I became a modder for it. I made some lightsabers that actually got very popular for a short while.

I love the game, but the mods never seem to work properly. I spent a good three hours trying to sort them out, downloaded a ton of stuff to help (Mod Manager) and found it just a bit too much hassle and gave up.

My only problem with the modding community?

THEY ARE ALL FUCKING PERVERTS. Every single one of them. Every time I want to search for a new mod for armor, I have to wade through a million other mods that make the armor into see-through chainmail bikinis. Granted that's... um... not necessarily a BAD thing, but for fucks sake, it encompasses 80% of the mods. It's also sexist. Just take one look at the featured mods on Tesnexus and try to tell me they aren't made solely for female characters. Huge-titted, japanese inhumanly-cute female characters.

Well... I have pretty much exactly the same story as you.

I had 'Blivion for 360, got bored, bought it for PC, fell in love again, due to mods.

Ta Daaaaaahhh...

I know the feeling...
in fact... I just reinstalled the game.

Mods...
Well... for gameplay... I'd recommend Deadly Reflexes (makes the combat MUCH more interesting), Super HotKeys (adds three new hotkey menus, a MUST), Midas Magic (adds an entirely new magic system without touching the vanilla one), and some kind of stealth overhaul/combat hiding mod.

Race mod? Hmm... my personal favorite is the Tiefling mod... just check it out.

As for quests...
I would definately recommend Malevolant, Tears of the Fiend, and The Lost Spires. I'm currently trying to get through the Castle Ravenpride one... so far its pretty interesting...

Weapons?
If you're playing a warrior, get Mighty Umbra! That is without a doubt, the BEST weapon mod I've played. It really makes it feel like an unbeatable soul-devouring blade.
