I totally need to play Alpha Centauri now, been meaning to experiment with the terraformers and enemy cities for a while now, mwahahaha. Anyway, Battlefield 1942 is my vote. It's a hell of a lot newer than most games here, but it's most certainly a classic, and better than Battlefield 2 for sure. Hopefully 1943 is going to be more "let's have a bit of a laugh," rather than BF2's serious business attitude. And NO FUCKING SHOCK PADDLES PLEASE.

+1 to that! Sniper rifle was always my weapon of choice though, i love sneakin' in that game.

I'd go straight back to old times and select streets of rage 2 and Ristar. Two old 2D games which are still awesome. They get my joint "retro 2D game of all time" award.
