Americans spell "centre" as "center"
"metre" as "meter"

towards is not a word: the "s" is redundant

it is actually "a lot", not "alot"

It took me like five years to figure out how to spell "probably" with anything resembling regularity.

holy shit! It is.

As for me I just realized the coffee I've been drinking every last few mornings has been decaf. But I guess my mind has treated it like it wasn't. Crazy.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I'm not the only one who just got it!

I dont see the bed thing
You'll see it in time. The 'b' is the headboard the 'e' is the mattress and the 'd' is the end of the bed and legboard (?).

And "Bed" with a capital is a bed with a pillow.

OH MY

I learnt the word Facade from the Pokemon games but pronounced it Fack-aid. I also assumed the ACTUAL word facade was spelt with a V or something.

It took me years of knowing both to realise they were actually the same word.

Good God. is there a name for this phenomenon? Visual onomatopoeia?

OT: I just realized that the word 'bed' looks like a bed.

This, also, I knew when to stop when spelling "bananas" because of Gwen Stefani.

OMG it does.

Also, some fairly obvious palindromes. Race car?

Theatre is spelt theatre, not theater.
Actually, you can spell it either way, for the record.
Well that is another load off my mind.
Glad to have been of service. ^_^
Mine would have to be when I was in the shower and my brother's friend was in the bathroom when I got out and I didn't know that he was in there. o_O Needless to say it's still awkward to be around him...

This one is absolutely hilarious!

For me, one of the biggest ones having been when I was first transferred down to San Diego, it took me forever to figure out where this area of town called "La Hoya" was located. Yet, every time I looked at a map, I could never figure out why no one ever made mention of this other part of town named "La Jolla." It took about a year before I added in Spanish phonetics and made the connection...
