Why can't I retain something so simple as the G minor harmonic scale with an augmented 5th? WHYYYYY?!!

That scale would sound horrible, that's just augmenting the fourth and the fifth, effectively moving the scale up a semitone for just two notes.

Heheheheh, guilty as charged, I was just trying to make something as contrivedly ridiculous as possible to see if anyone would actually realize. And yes, it does sound horrible

Well, actually, it's the diminished fifth, (effectively the same thing in almost all cases).

And it's pretty evil if you hear it. Listen to As I Am by Dream Theater for some evil riffing with the dimished fifth involved.
