Feel sorry for N-Control trying to get everything in order with what I heard was an actually legit product.

Can't imagine a more nightmarish situation for any CEO.

OK, now that I've read that, screw N-Control, too.

Re-Posting my opinions on this matter from the official thread:

-

This really stinks of the persecution complex that moviebob was talking about a few big pictures ago.

I feel like Sentor Amidala as Palpatine takes over the senate.

All around people are deciding to viciously smash up a guys life because he was a bit of an asshole.
This is no "eye for an eye" (the meaning of the phrase is that you shall take no more than has been taken from you) let alone the "turn the other cheek" we have been expected to uphold in decent society.

We tell children not to react when provoked, and yet here all I see are whining rabid enthusiasts taking their persecution complexes to such high levels where it is them themselves that are the bullies. This is not even base reaction, it is overreaction at it's finest. Yes the guy should be fired, but that's it.

As someone who has worked in retail I had my moments where I lost my cool, that's no reason for this campaign of hate.

And all this before people go and decide to review bomb a controller that is designed to help disabled kids.

Internet people, you disappoint me. Again.

-

I will say the same thing that I have said to the other guy with a response like this. Go back and research some of the responses and of the two threads. The guy did more then just crap all over customers and terrible PR on the products, he lie, cheat, and stole. Just look at my last post. Look at the posts in the other thread. Now it seems the guy has also committed domestic violence.

This guy is getting everything he deserves and that's what it should be. That does not happen often if at all, which is why news like this is even more epic when it does happen. He's not only by the very definition of a douche and bully, but a criminal. And he will be seud like crazy, and face serious jail time. Finally some justice happens for once.
Vigilante justice is not acceptable, if he is guilty of these things, it should be decided by a court and a jury not by the internet's court of opinion.

I saw no evidence of domestic violence, if you would be so kind as to provide a link?

Meanwhile:

1. Copyright Infringement
2. Plagiarizing
3. Piracy
4. Steroids
5. Illegally charged people full on the product before product is even shipped.
6. Lies and Slander about his "big connections".
7. Single handedly destroying if not already destroyed the creditability of the company with his strong lack of professionalism towards paying customers.
8. Domestic Violence
9. Felony
1, 5 and 7 are matters for the company - the company either goes bust and recompenses the people it took money from, or delivered on the goods. He is fired, or replaced or whatever, none of this merits the demonization being lauded on him. Should you disagree - then the place where the corporate law shall be hammered out is in a court not on the internet.

2,3,4 and 6 are all personal matters. There are no laws against being a braggard or copying something (the times when it is are covered by my response to 1). Steroid use or piracy are not big enough issues to merit the reaction it has garnered.

8 is a court matter. if there is verifiable proof - submit it to the authorities, I haven't seen the evidence, but I will not comment if all there is is mere hearsay.

I stand by my assertion that this is wrong, from the start to the finish, this is not the way that civilized adults deal with these sorts of situations.
This persecution complex, born from being bullied in school has led these people to be the bullies of the internet - and that is not acceptable.

-

Dude, it's called research. Links that your looking for are at the other thread as well. Go to page 7 on the gaming discussion thread about it.

It's not even an opinion, these are facts. And you obviously have no recollection of how serious something like plagiarizing is if you don't think their is a law behind it. Especially piracy, are you even serious with that one?

I'm not even going to continue about how incorrect your statements are, just look at the responses in the gaming discussion forum on this thread along with the links provided there. I think your either just trying to play devil's advocate just for the sake of it or your Paul himself lol XD.
I'm sorry, in my past I have copy pasted parts of an essay off wikipedia. [EDIT] REDACTED I HAVE NEVER PIRATED ANYTHING EVER, I've dabbled in restricted substances. (though when I took steroids they were prescribed.)
Fuck, I've even had my share and more of being an asshole, but this sort of crusade is not what we as decent human beings should be doing.

Most of all - what I can really understand is retail - the first time a customer yelled at me for my supermarket running out of bags it was annoying, the fiftieth time, I felt ready to explode.

I do not condone domestic violence, It is a serious issue - but not one that should be decided by the amorphous will of the internet.

Do you know what vigilante attacks are?

This is exactly the same, except it is on the internet. That is where this road leads.

I do not support this sort of behaviour in real life, I will not support it on the internet.

Have you seen this?

However - I propose a hypothetical situation - When I raise my kid, I will tell them not to rise to things like this - not to persecute, but to use the proper channels.
Not to rush blindly without the full information, but to uphold the fantastic legal system we as civilized societies hold.

And when they ask me what I did when the first round of internet lynchings happened, I will say how I despaired.

The Escapist's own @LoganWestbrook weighs in with his opinion on twitter which is far clearer than most on this site. Though he seems to blame Mike Krahulik for setting loose the dogs, rather than the dogs for mauling the man.

"LoganWestbrook Logan Westbrook
@vmearl [Because] he knows how many fans PA has and he knows how they will react when properly motivated."

"LoganWestbrook Logan Westbrook
RT @aegies we should definitely try to ruin someone's life because of bad customer service. totally."

"LoganWestbrook Logan Westbrook
@vmearl So do I, but it's the company's job to discipline him, not the internet's."

"LoganWestbrook Logan Westbrook
@devilherdue Geeks have a real issue with bullying and being bullies. It's a shame we aren't more aware of how we interact with others."

Thank you for posting this. Just because someone behaves like a total arsehole, doesn't give anyone license to do whatever they like to them.

The Penny Arcade guys are not the littlest kids on the playground anymore, if they ever were, and I find it saddening (but not surprising) that they're playing up to internet mob mentality again.

The Amazon-bombs are pretty awesome.
Honestly that is the worst thing about all of this. See this guy runs a marketing firm, his company does not actually make the controller. But the company who hired him is getting some of the hate for him being bad at his job. And they do not deserve that. Will they use a different firm from now on? No doubt. But they do not deserve to lose sales because this guy was an ass.
The company that makes the controller made a calculated risk in hiring this guy, they deserve everything they get. Spend peanuts, get monkeys.
No, it was not a calculated risk. That implies there was a good chance (even 1% is good in this instance) of something bad happening. They hired a "Professional" Firm to do marketing for them. Now the original manufacturer has to go to court and sue this PR firm. Much time trouble and expense.

After reading a few different threads about this, I don't think blaming the company is a good idea. The controls would be good for kids, and seem decent enough. I'm pretty sure he got fired, so I don't really want to see this product fail based on one idiot.

Wowza!

That is some serious shit! Total bullshit, yet serous at the same time.

"I do run Pax, but I also run a website called penny arcade. It?s kinda popular."

LMFAO

and to everyone saying this customer service guy doesn't deserve to have his life ruined

He brought this on himself by:

A: Running he mouth, like he's a tough guy.

B: When proven that he was actually a little weakling, he ran his mouth off to the site owner and the person who runs PAX

C: Realizing what a moron on he was being, he backed out. When he should have done that in the first place.

Please read what you wrote again. He deserves to have his "life ruined" for that? Youve NEVER run your mouth ever? Youve never got mad and said stupid shit? Youve never had to apoligise? If the answer to any of these is no go ruin your own life. Its only fair. Or provide me with personal details so i can fairly ruin your life please. Id like telephone numbers, emails and addresses please. Can you post them? Thanks in advance, im sure B will happily ruin your life for you. Justice can be restored! It will also help if you describe the time you once accidently were a douche. That would be great.

This guy was an asshole. He deserves to be fired. But this is too far. We have become the bullies. Christ people can be dicks, but this is far worse than what he did. People trying to ruin him should be ashamed. Ashamed. You are worse than him by a fair margin. What he did was heat of the moment assholery. What you are doing is sadistic and unneccessary. The inernet and nerds in general are bad at this, me included. We pounce on a single person and RUIN them totally out of proprortion. Its sick. Its wrong, and its fucking disgustingly hypocritical. You just want petty revenge because assholes like this guy have been dicks to you (not you mr quotee just everyone) and this is NOT the way to maturely deal with it.

Grow up internet. Logde complaints to the company. Dont ruin his life. Dont ruin the product. How OLD are you people? Christ. Im fucking sickened by this. Sickened. Everyone trying to ruin him should be ashamed. He deserves to lose his job as hes evidently crap at it. But he doesnt deserve other shit. Nor does the company.

This whole thing is like a reversed version of "Its a wonderful life".

Up to this point, its pretty obvious that Paul Christoforo has been hopping through life without much care for anyone else around him.

Life has let him be as mean as he wanted to be, and ultimately to victimize weaker people around him. Its apparent in the way he presents himself privately and professionally. Everything the internet has discovered about Paul illustrates the man that he is...or isn't, as you might analyze.

Paul just got the biggest wake up call of his life. The rest of us got this message in our teens. Behaving in fucked up ways and doing fucked up things ultimately bears fucked up consequences. Rather than learn this, accept it, and move on to a productive and healthy adulthood - Paul skipped the lesson. That didnt make the lesson any less true though.

So now, Paul is getting that lesson..but instead of learning it somewhat gently over the course of a decade of teenage mistakes, its all been saved up for this moment..to be delivered in one huge dose.

Is it the business of the internet to serve this dose? I don't know. But its happening.

Its a philosophical point - When do we have to answer for the evils that we do? We've all done something. Some of us have done lots. When is that bill due?

Paul's bill came due on Dec 16th 2011.

Everyone defending this guy, you might have a point IF, and only IF, the incident was a one-time thing blowing off steam. From what I've seen, however, this guy has shown a pattern of asshole behavior.

Honestly, some of the people defending him act like the internet is physically beating him up. It's a roast, that's all. He'll have his couple days, or even a week of internet fame. Fickle as it is, attention will pass.

I have no sympathy for assholes, there's simply too many of them. Another will take this man's place. What with the possible domestic abuse and douchey behavior, the only people are feel sorry for are the rest of his family, who probably have to deal with him on a daily basis (though someone decided to marry him anyway).

It's a lesson. Both for the guy and the company who hired him. If they can't handle the mistakes their own stupidity have wrought, then they probably aren't worth defending, or even hating, in the first place.

Unfortunately, it won't, because the internet doesn't forget. When none of you lot even remember this or give a crap, he'll still be applying for jobs and this crap will still be coming up on Google.
