My nightmares are normally to do with me messing up at school, which is probably rather common.
The others tend to involve me being trapped in never-ending housing estates, which look the same wherever you go. Coincidentally, I hate large housing estates. Especially the ones with those horrible council flats.

Here, I'll copy and paste my two most recent nightmares that I posted in the Dreamer Group.
I was driving through a forest with my friend. For whatever reason, we had a gigantic bag of 5 cent candies. The majority of the dream was us just driving along a nice scenic road while eating candy and listening to the news (I can't remember what any of the news was about).
Eventually, the sun started going down so we pulled over, found a clearing in the forest, and started setting up a camp site. My friend went to go get some wood for a fire and I pitched the tent. After pitching the tent and enjoying the scenery for a while my friend still had not come back so I decided to go look for him. I went walking through the forest and before long saw my friend backed up against a tree with a huge scorpion standing right in front of him.
The scorpion was about the size of a bear and had a stinger the size of a machete. It was completely black. It's claws were inches away from my friend and we all just stood there motionless for a while hoping that the scorpion would move on. My friend eventually decided to try and smack the scorpion's claws away. This resulted in him having the stinger violently stabbed into his gut many times in quick succession. I watched in horror and then went to flee.
Unfortunately, a bunch of the huge scorpion's underlings had shown up. There was about 7 of them and they were all about half the size the big scorpion. They leaped at me and started stinging me. I ran through the forest dragging them along with me while my vision slowly blurred until I could see no more.
Then I woke up.
I was in my room when I heard this bone chilling screeching (kind of like a Nazgul only lower in pitch) coming from somewhere in my house. I walked outside of my room and started exploring my pitch black house. The lay out was all the same except for this weird pyramid structure on the top floor. I made my way to the top of the pyramid and saw one of my friends standing there.
My friend told me that I needed to open the safe. He and I went back down the pyramid and down into my basement. In the furnace room, there was a door that was never there before. As soon as I opened the door, the screeching came again and it was coming from upstairs. We could hear foot steps running down the stairs so we quickly ran through the door and shut it.
Behind the door was a long corridor that led to a small dark room. There was a small black safe in the middle of the room. I opened the safe because I somehow knew the combination and inside was a black orb. I picked up the orb and my friend immediately vanished.
The screeching suddenly became very loud and I could hear it coming down the corridor. I opened a hatch that was in the ceiling and climbed up. It led to the closet in my bedroom. I got in bed and pulled up the covers. I laid on my side facing away from my door and computer.
Suddenly I heard breathing coming from behind me. I slowly turned over and say a dark and demented looking figure sitting in my computer chair with it's back to me. It had long black hair as well as long and unnaturally bent limbs. I stared at it for what felt like an hour when I suddenly noticed that beneath the hair on what I thought was the back of its head, I could see small red eyes glaring back at me. It was then I realized that its head was completely turned around in a grotesque fashion and had been glaring at me the whole time. I screamed in terror and then it leaped at me.
Then I woke up.
I also had a series of nightmares in my childhood involving hammerhead shark burglars. They looked a lot like the Nightmare King from Little Nemo.

I don't remember the last time I had a nightmare that had a lasting effect, but what I do get are episodes of sleep paralysis. Now that is extremely terrifying, and makes me actually afraid to fall asleep again.

I was trapped in a mazelike house with a patient, implacable, intelligent, unliving abomination whose only reason to exist was to murder me. The house kept reconfiguring itself to keep me locked inside. When I finally did escape the air felt like molasses, slowing my frenzied retreat and allowing the creature to gain on me even more.

And the entire time, no matter how close or far it was, I could hear its voice echoing in my head, talking calmly about how I could run, hide, change my name, it didn't matter. It would always find me, and would make sure I suffered long before oblivion claimed me.

well, there was this one time i dreamt that my best friend, a classmate, my bro's little sister, and I were flying into new york via helicopter to repel a collector attack. we were all equipped with assault riffles and sniper riffles. i was checking my school bag to see if my guns were nicely packed up. they were, and then i though "oh geez, lucky i didn't forget these!". they then promptly disappeared.
it was too late to turn back, so i got stuck evacuating civilians through a single fire exit door and by civillians, I mean everyone in my school. i got everyone out, whereupon i was greeted by another classmate, who told me that the invasion was over. he then invited me to a party, and then i was attacked by a husk. i woke up very irked.

i also once dreamed i was kenedy, living in the whitehouse. i was then stabbed, and all i could think of as i bled to death on the floor of the white house was "that was mean. why did he do that?"

Personal favorite nightmare: I got set on fire.

While that's not really an odd nightmare in and of itself, it becomes more interesting when you're set on fire and then wake up with a spontaneous massive fever that promptly goes down and stays. I'm talking "104 to 98 in two hours".

Explain, please.

I had a dream that there was some kind of infection sweeping the world. It was caused by looking at a tv with static and a strange symbol that escapes my memory now, for only more than five seconds. If you got infected, your arms were pulled off, not fell off, pulled off, by some invisible force, and then your head would turn into one of the infectious TVs.

Then, for some reason, I found out that me and one other person, some girl, had a link to everyone else in the world that meant if one of us became infected, everyone left would also become infected. We were taken to some sort of tower with soldiers to protect us, but the infection reached us, and I was trapped between the infected soldiers above, and the zombies closing in from below, with barely anywhere left to look. They were coming up the stairs when I woke up.

Really creeped me out. I actually got up, had to watch 30 rock for a while to take my mind off of it, and when I decided to go back to sleep, I left the light on. Haven't done that in years.

There is a common theme in my dreams that most people don't seem to have, though. When I have nightmares, it's generally not monsters that chase me, it's people. Normal people, not zombies, infected, or possessed, just people who hate me for some reason, sometimes a good ol' torch and pitchfork mob. Hell, sometimes I'm some kind of monster, a werewolf or something like that, but not in the mind, I'm still just me.

Just today I had very weird dream. So, me and couple of my classmates decided to visit our old school. WE're all graduates so in my dream I realized that we didn't visit the past. We walk around corridors and we see our math teacher. We say hello, she asks how we've been, where are we studying now etc. And then I realize that she died year ago from heart attack. I don't know if that counts as nightmare but holy shit I was terrified once I realized that we were talking to a dead person.

I've had a few that I've woken up from thought "Oh good just a dream" and I can't possibly tell you the details of.

Recently had a vivid dream where I was a passenger on a jumbo jet that was spiraling out of control.

And I've had the dream within a dream inception thing happen, where I thought I'd woken up only to find out I was still dreaming.

Apparently my subconscious is just a ***** and seems to get off on jerking me about.

I've had this one a few times. It's always a little fuzzy in my head when I wake up, so I'll try my best to describe it.

Basically, I witness a murder, and I'm trying to convince a polie officer of the murderer's guilt. Heres the thing: While I'm trying to convince the police officer, the murderer is standing right there, listening. I keep pointing at him, pleading with the officer, getting more and more desperate in my attempts to convince him. The officer never listens, and disregards everything I say. Then, the murderer just starts smiling at me; he knows that I know what he did, and as soon as that police officer leaves, I know that I'm going to be next.

Whether or not the murderer would actually succeed in killing me remains to be seen, as I always wake up before the scenario can go any further than that. I don't know why I find the murderer smiling to be so unsettling when I think about it, but I do, even though I can't really put a face to the person in the dream who was the murderer. What gets at me the most is that even though many parts of the dream remain vague in my memory, I can clearly remember the feeling of desperation when trying to convince the police officer that the man was the murderer. I'm REALLY glad that I don't have that nightmare very frequently.

Hehe, last night I had a really vivid dream where I lost my ID. Like, so vivid that it almost convinced me it was real. I actually got up to check it was still there in my wallet. Scared me, because when my citizencard ID stopped working, I was practically stopped from going out for a good few months while I tried to figure out applying for a provisional license, and when I sent it off, that was the most tense week and a bit of my life, just waiting to see whether I'd messed it up or not.

I once had a hallucination in a half-stupor, half-sleep because I was sick. What it was...was of speaking with Death about my life. I can't remember it all because this was delirium I was in. I remember arguing that I shouldn't die. Well...so far, so good.

My current 'Nightmares' involve me dreaming about falling off my bed...then I wake up and I haven't moved lol
Think of it like the 'kick' from Inception.

The dream wasn't a dream but an actual event that happened in this universe. You (the now you not flaming you) were taken from a different universe and put into this one in place of the You who was set on fire. This was done as you were sleeping so the memories of the flaming you in this universe were merging with your memories, and since being on fire was a more intense memory than others it managed to have a noticeable effect on you which took the form of seeing/experiencing it in a "dream" and a sudden spike in temperature.

Sufficient explanation?

This is a dream that most people wouldn't consider a nightmare. But I have a dream that pretty much ends the same way and its one that leaves me frustrated and annoyed afterwards.

You need some background, I used to work in bars and I did that for about 10 years and towards the end of that time, I really really hated it. It is the worst job in the world if you hate drunks, idiots and drunken idiots. Add to that fact that at one of the places I worked, the equipment was not maintained at all and at some point in the night you would end up pouring nothing but pints of froth from the pumps. I worked there far too long because the money was good and I worked in bars for far too long.

In my dream I have for whatever reason decided to give up the job that I have now, one that I enjoy and have gone back to working in a bar, the same place that I worked where nothing works. And it starts well enough, with just one or 2 customers where I get them served and it seems to be ok, but as time goes on, more people come in and want serving and things start going wrong, the pumps start dispensing froth, the tils don't work, the spirits need changing and all the time more and more people are coming in and their all getting angrier because they're not getting served and there is no one else but me there.

I usually wake up after that, really wound up and frustrated, feeling like I felt working there back when I worked in bars. I think I have some sort of Customer Service PTSD.

It depends how you define nightmares.

Most nights I try to only go to sleep when I am on the verge of passing out. That way I do not remember my dreams, nor do I wake up during them. Because my nightmares are the same as my dreams. And if every single night you get back together with your ex, only to wake up and realise it was all a fucking dream?

Well, you will end up terrified of your dreams too.

My dreams are mundane. As are my nightmares. A few nights ago, other then the aforementioned dream/nightmare, I dreampt I was unblocking a sink. That is the sort of dream I have. I spend entire nights dreaming about a boring cab ride, or being on a bus, or doing something small and mundane.

Or getting back together with my ex girlfriend.

I used to have mental dreams. I once talked to my own severed head on a spike. After falling through a glass window that became a bubble that decapitated me. That's a dream I will never forget and its what, a decade old?

Dreams are weird.

I have the same dream about once a month,

I am in the lead vehicle in a convoy moving into a region separated from my homeland by a river, it looks overgrown, kinda pripyatesque if you take my meaning. There are other blokes with me, and we are all kitted out similarly. There is a large pipeline running perpendicular to the river about three meters off the ground. I see a man standing on top of the pipeline. He is tall and looks kind of unkempt and his fingernails are 3/4 cm long. He attacks the convoy, leaping on it and tearing up the other blokes. There are other unkempt people attacking as well. My vehicle is tipped and I get out and run. I find an old house and go inside. Then, with no linking scene I am in a room in the house trying to hold the door shut as something tries to bash it down. I do not know what it is but I don't want it in the room with me. I know that soon whatever is trying to get in will take me.

I wake up as the door breaks.

I have this dream every month and every time it gets a little more detailed. The bloke driving my vehicle is wearing oakleys, the first unkempt man has red hair, the desk in the room that I am trapped is one of the roll top kind etc etc.
