That was so interesting I was compelled to investigate further. The botox injections help relax the muscles in your head for migraines and tension headaches. I'm guessing the hair clip might be doing the same job, stretching out muscles that are tensing up. The botox also blocks some nerve receptors, and perhaps the hair clip does something similar, creating a different pain response in the skin.

Does the placement of the hair clip factor much in the reduction of pain?

Anyway, my usual headache cure is to turn of the lights and lie down for a few minutes with my eyes closed.
Ahh, that would make sense! Getting botox injected into my head weirds me out, so I always say no. Currently, I just take some migraine meds (Relpax) and they usually always do the trick (unless its one of my major migraines).

Placement of the hair clip factors a TON in the reduction of pain. The sweet spot is right where my eyebrow begins. I make sure the clip fastens on the bottom? (lack of better terminology) of the brow bone there, so nearly ontop of my eyelid. Ive actually bruised myself before, because I will occasionally squeeze on the hair clip to make it tighter. It sounds insane I know, but once you release after squeezing, it feels amazing.

My headaches are usually clustered in one spot (behind my eye), so it feels like someone is driving a spike through my head. I think that fact makes the hair clip technique super easy for me to use. If I get a headache that is 'spread out,' obviously I can't use the method.
Interesting that you describe it as a spike in your eye... and the location of the pain suggests it might be a contact point headache, rather than a tension one.

If that's the case, it's not that the muscles in your head are causing the problem, but rather that a nerve in your nose is kind of getting trapped between something. Did the pain start after a cold, or sinus infection? Did your doctor suggest trying some decongestants?

If it is the contact point headache, then it's really a case of the hair clip masking the pain with another one, kind of like when you scratch to relieve an itch. I guess your doctor suggested the botox for it's nerve deadening properties.

I'm not a doctor, by the way, just that the botox thing was weird enough for me to investigate :)

I get chronic Migraines due to a skull fracture i had when i was 2. Honestly, sleep or sitting in a dark room helps a ton.

A hot bath with an icepack on your face works wonders too.

This thread is relevant to my interests. I require this information, due to my 2-year long headache not being less painful with any normal techniques.
Uh....

You're going to need a brain surgeon, knock-out gas, a pair of scissors and a pair of forceps.

OT: Neck and shoulder massage takes away the pain, and if you do it right, it won't come back.

Already had it checked out, the doctors can't find anything wrong. So I just have to deal with it. Kind of sucks.
OT: Being in a dark room sometimes helps me. Other times, directly injecting Dr. Pepper into my veinsdrinking some Dr. Pepper helps due to the caffeine and that Dr. Pepper always makes me happy. c:

Masturbation or Sex. The actual act of Orgasm gets the blood flowing around and releases plenty of endorphins and what nots and tends to make your headaches go away after a few minutes. This isn't a "home remedy" either, it's been proven in quite a few sources.
Damn, that was going to be my suggestion.

A couple of people I know who suffer from migraines say there's a certain point on their head they can apply pressure to that reduces the pain a little. It's a different place for each person, so some experimentation may be necessary.

Lying down in a dark room also helps migraines. But for "normal" headaches, I find fresh air works better.

Take a nap with a kitty. Put your head on their soft little purry tummies and sleep. Headache will be gone when you wake up. Short of kittes? Take a nap in a sunbeam.

... Works for me, anyway.
I take your kitties and trade it for puppies.
Kitties will make me sneeze and cry . Bad Cat allergies.
But atleast the allergy will make me forget my headache...

Most of my headaches are hunger induced so eating helps for me. I think water alone is also helpful but I could be wrong about that.

Also masturbation but that's never worked for me for longer than 5 seconds. Although it is interesting to picture something like a fog rolling in as my headache returns moments before I flush the toilet...

Jam a lemon in a cat's mouth and then rub it vigorously over your face.

I can guarantee that you won't notice your headache for a good while after.
