Yeah, they told EA to f*ck off, and then went to make the next Oddworld game (after the remake) some piece of crap for facebook.

Evil as EA are, they probably would've squeezed a real game out of them.

This would be a good moment to remind that EA Louse, which was written off by EA as "rumour and speculation" blew the lid on Paul Barnett's Ultima Forever, nearly two fucking years before its announcement.

I'd like to see a gaming journalist bring that up, rather than lap up their press releases.

Why defend a douchebag who immediately laid off pretty much his hole team after Stranger's wrath? at least EA makes the occasional good game now and then and gets my respect even if I sometimes hate them. Oddworld dev just wants attention and EA knows it.

He's putting that on EA:

The original Stranger's Wrath was planned for Xbox and the PlayStation 2, with Oddworld developing the version for Microsoft's console and EA intending to take care of the PlayStation version. But the PS2 version was cancelled during development, with Lanning still feeling this was the beginning of darker plan. EA withdrew marketing and promotional support for the game because it wasn't a multi-format title, and the game sank at retail, shifting 600,000 units "on a title that really needed to do 1.6 million to break even."

According to Lanning, with Oddworld Inhabitants losing money on the development of the project, EA wanted to step in to acquire the team.
Even if it wasn't sabotage, it looks like they did a pretty shit job as a publisher.
