"i am dyslexic".
He probably read it wrong, maybe as "Dyslexicfuck" or something.

But in all seriousness, I never take offence by someones screen name, even if it is genuinely offensive. In the end, judge them for the person they are, not some letters that make up their online tag.

Oh no, he mentioned a condition that some people have. Clearly he's an evil mastermind.

It's an absolutely neutral gamertag with no offensive connotations, unless your dyslexic friend considers dyslexics...or ducks to be offensive. Then again, I can't tell you how many times I've seen "aussie" in peoples' gamertags and wanted to hire a hitsquad to take those racists out.

He's clearly over-sensitive, and it's a baseless complaint, but that's not going to change his reaction. He sounds like he's standing firm on his outrage. It's probably stubbornness, but not much you can do to change that. Pushing is probably only going to anger him more.

Also, since when could ducks read and write? I think the name is more of a compliment to ducks.

EDIT: Also, when i ask how it is offensive i get nothing. Not a peep.
ok that's hilarious, a peep is also a duck shaped treat.

quite frankly your mate needs to chill and anyone named Dislexic Duck sounds awesome.

when he gets enough points to change his name he should change it to "A Dislexic Duck"

"you were killed by a dislexic duck"

magic.
He put "A" as his clan tag...that made me laugh

Jesus mate, how old are your friends?
The dyslexic is about 14.
He wouldn't kick the shit out of you but his friends are like brick shit houses...
Don't be worried.. the thing about brick shit houses is they are full of shit and as such rarely ever start on anyone.. even if they do they generally collapse as they get all the shit kicked out of them..

OT: There's no reason why the gamer tag is offensive, I even originally read it as 'DyslexicDicks' which would have been possibly offensive but ducks.. thats just a silly statement and isnt possibly aimed at human dyslexics in any negative way..

Conclusion: the dyslexic is overreacting, or like me, read the gamer tag wrong ^

I'm a little dyslexic and can't find anything wrong with that tag. If it is just a game ID, then guess what your offended friend can do? Find that guy in any PvP setting and take his silly rage out there where nobody really gets hurt. Threatening real violence and having a very real way to carry it out is dangerous and should probably be brought to the attention of any parents or school counsilors who can decide what, if any, measures should be taken to keep the situation from getting out of control.

So, i have a friend who recently changed his gamertag to
DislexicDuck
Another one of my friends has seen this, taken this personally and threatened him to punch his lights out.
Being the peacemaker, i try to sort it out. I tried reasoning and asked how it was offensive to which he replied "i am dyslexic". I say "so, its not saying anything about dyslexic people or insulting them in any way. It's not saying taht dislexic people are idiots and should set fire to themself is it?"

My friend will have no of this, and as a result, is having multiple people ignore him. He doesn't have enough money to change it back "YET". I came to the agreement that the dyslexic person would forgive him if he changed his gamertag.

I'm asking you, escapists, Did i go about it the right way? Do you find that gamertag offensive? Has the kid over-reacted? How can it be solved because i don't want a war breaking out here...

EDIT: Also, when i ask how it is offensive i get nothing. Not a peep.
He's clearly completely over-reacted. It's like when people think describing someone as 'Black' is being racist. It's just stupidity...

Quick question, can't resist: If he's dislexic how does he know what it says?
Oh man, that was just low :p

OT: Hell, I've seen people with names like "AsthmaMonster" and didn't get offended at all. Some people are just a bit too sensitive...

I dont find it insulting or offensive but I can see how they would, very much so. A gamer-tag like that is taking something that people really struggle with, and suffer from, and portraying it in a whimsical and 'funny' matter. Its blatantly not taking it seriously, which can be very hurtful to someone who has to deal with it as their reality.
