THIS. A THOUSAND TIMES THIS.
No amount of JK Simmons and funny bumbling personality spheres can remove the weight that this line has.

"We're a lot alike, you and I. You tested me, I tested you. You killed me, I... oh no wait. I guess I haven't killed you yet."

-sigh- No amount of 'it's art' is going to get me to buy this. I learned my mistake with the halo comic. Cute that the companion cube actually talks, but the fact the artist can't make up his mind whether it is OMGSEIZURE or nicely drawn does not help.

I wouldn't mind if it was heavily symbolized or out of context, but quick scribbles does not art make. If I can effectively recreate your art by scribbling, you have failed as an artist.

I hope the art style is made to not suck. A few panels showed promise.

You know what. For once I'm thankful I am utter shite at seeing the significance of things and understanding metaphors....this comic didn't reveal anything to me at all :S

For the record, the contrasting styles are to show the difference between the present (when the Rat Man is completely nuts and has been alone and off his medication for god knows how long) and the past, when he was medicated, and before GLaDOS was fully operational.

And it's a free comic, what made you think you had to buy anything?

So... her file, containing presumably random binary numbers, just happened to spell out "The cake is a lie," which Ratman discovered in his years of insane boredom?

Portal was a brilliant game. Shame that part of its legacy is that fucking cake being a lie getting repeated a million times by incredibly un-clever people.

Please Valve, just stop it already. We don't need anymore people talking about the cake.

I hate it when comics adopt that "Hey let's be artsy by drawing everywhere and make it look like the artists had seizures while doing their work" thing.
if you read the page closely the artsy pages are drawn from the Ratman,s point of view (who is psychotic) the pages that are from another person,s point of view look normal

But comic books? I hate how they pull this trick. why can't they just give a 2 minute video prelude (animated not comic) at the beginning of portal 2 explaining it.
Cause its expensive?

$60! wish I could get it that cheap but in australia they are charging $88 for PC and $108 on console, this is a rip off because the australian dollar is now the same as the american so be glad you can get a retail one for 60. (and the internet is so slow here it would probably take 12 hours to download off steam if the internet does not drop out).

It fits here, seeing as the subject of the comic is going crazy. Same goes for Batman: Arkham Asylum. Most demented comic art I've ever seen, but nothing else would fit so well.

um, thats the point, if you actually read THE DAMN THING, you would know that Rattman is a skitsofrantic, and may I ask, what DOES the eyes of a skitsofrantic look like? oh, you don't know, well then its not being artsy, its important to push that he is a crazy man, having to live within a crazy facility to freaking escape a homicidal computer, look at the transition from the skitsofrantic art style to the normal art style, can you tell which one looks crazy, and which one fits.
Sir, literally, don't say something is trying to be artsy until you delved into it yourself.

Um, the shame is that the cake actually FUCKING exists, but everyone thinks its a fake, let me spell this out to anyone else reading this, the cake at the end of the credits of the first game proves it is real, the fact that people think it isn't is freaking stupid. For example rattman now proves that he is crazy during the events of the first portal, thus meaning that his words about the cake could be summarized by this, the cake is undeniably well hidden. Think about it, no one gets to the cake in the actual game due to its closed off. Now you are right, 100% right, but I seriously hate DOUBT that the thing doesn't exist, its not a hologram, the robot arm stop the candle's burn. So, final thought, CAKE IS NOT A LIE, IT ACTUALLY EXISTS!!

No need to spend an entire post saying that I'm a **** in a sardonic manner. If you look at the timestamp of the post, it was from when we only had the preview of the comic, and no-one had actually seen the full content. Since then I have "read THE DAMN THING".

And seeing as I've had the same message bashed on my nonce around a dozen times, no need to repeat it- and no need to do it in a way that's rude or bastardizes the English language[footnote]Commageddon[/footnote].

OT: I've actually seen the comic since my original post. Not bad. Art style still is a bit confusing when he's skitzo, but I can see the point in it. But the people look damn fugly during sane mode.

Nice way to expand on the Portalverse, anyway.

Actually the thing that trips Rattman into using her is how she was graded in her psych profile when it came to her determination, says something like 'Do not use for testing, she will never give up, NEVER, seriously.'

In defense of the aussie retailers; my company in the uk tried to make product for aus on a 6-month trial contract, we lost so much money due to the crazy-ass shipping routine to you guys that we lost a load of money and packed it in.

Detailers that I remember spoilered below
we had to
Use a specific type of (crappy) poly
Ship it to and accross the USA, where the wooden pallets were removed
Ship it from the west coast USA to New Zealand, where the shrinkwrap was removed
The now loose product was loaded onto a container ship and shipped to Oz
Where it sat in Quarantine for a month
Note that we arent meant to ship the product if its in storage more than a week

I liked the comic, no idea what's really happening with the cake though, I'm guessing its not as simple as a binary message, that'd be pretty lame so far as such things go.
