thanx for the more detailed specs! I watched the demos and the games look like how Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 look on PC on Ultra. That's quite good really. Far better than how WiiU games look. I'm afraid Nintendo is really back now.
I wonder what its price will be.

Me neither. I figured the PS4 would come out at some point next year, not in 6 months.

I'm interested to see what MS use to go up against this in the next xbox. I'm nowhere near an expert but for a console that looks like some pretty decent specs.

EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME

Sony goes "ooh, look how shiny the specs are"

and then developers have to spend time polishing graphics instead of actually making fun games.

Meanwhile, an average PC is already equalling this. most gaming dedicated machines (like, you know, consoles) are already higher specced than this.

yeah if by comparable you go "look at what we were doing two years ago!" as a way of telling Sony to stop being so stupid.

Well I had that info at the start of the month. There's been differing specs going around for over a year.

They've probably been working on it for a number of years. You don't invest this much money (not a specific amount, just an assumed huge amount) without a lot of preparation.

Considering the PS arm of Sony was the only profitable part last year, I'd say they are betting a fuck load on the PS4.

No worries. Better is a relative term, I didn't think the shooter they showed looked good at all.

Knack on the other hand looks awesome.

The RPG they're showing has promise too.

EDIT: For clarification, the CAPCOM rpg, Deep Down I think.

consoles arent going to be more powerul than PC's...thats just a fact, and I dont get it..first you say the focus on specs is bad but then you berate them for not being as good as PC?

Kind of funny... I remember being told that the PS4 wouldn't be that much more powerful than the Wii U. Only a little bit more powerful.

Yeah if you read what I write properly, you'll see that I'm saying that there's no point in saying "look at my awesome hardware" when it's going to be a) inferior in a very short timeframe and b) "bog standard" for PCs about mid last year.

The only upside to this announcement was the bit where they said it's x86 based, so PC ports will be better than they have been on the PS3.

And if this is a Sports car, a gaming PC must be the Millennium Falcon.

Well, I didn't say it was going to be a little bit more powerful. I said it had to be just a little more powerful or else it would be expensive as all heck. Based on the news today, Sony may be digging themselves a grave.

I know they said that it would only cost 399$ for people, but there is no way it costs that much to Sony, not with those specs.

Also, one thing to note is that both Systems (WiiU and PS4) have a more GPU centered Console then their predecessor. So maybe we're going to see the rise of GPU's now?

lol AMD parts are dirt cheap. This is part of their platform strategy where GPU and CPU work directly with each other.

That being said, they're going to sell these at a loss. again.
