Only moaning I've ever seen on here mostly is PC only users whining and complaining about consoles holding them back, consoles not having the "ultimate K+M setup", not supporting mods etc.
This is going to sound insane, but I prefer a controller over a mouse and keyboard, I understand that a K+M combo is better (I used to play PC games competitively) I just prefer using a controller.

At the end of the day I could care less about my rig because it will primarily serve as my main means of everything else I already do on this laptop and maybe a little gaming on the side but I'll mostly be playing on the new consoles because I like simplicity and don't like constantly upgrading and splashing out money I don't have on parts that could just as easily fizzle or burn out.
I always found components would die randomly when I built rigs too, not sure if its part of the whole "experience" or just my shoddy workmanship.

One time my PSU caught fire... (no seriously, my PSU caught fire) and to try to put it out my friend threw his beer over it, not the brightest lad what with all the chucking liquid over an electrical fire and all. The very next week I bought myself a Gamecube.

Maybe this time they'll remember to keep the price reasonable... and have more than one good launch game.
All of my this. I remember when the Sony America President made the case that comparing the ps3 to the other consoles was like comparing caviar to fast food. My thinking at the time was, "I've eaten a lot more fast food than caviar, chief. It's abundant, satisfying and tastes relatively good. Telling me that your console is for rich snobs isn't exactly a selling point."

Of course when I got 45% off on a release model backwards compatible system near the beginning of their life, I got one. If they can keep the price below $400 I might think about getting this one.

Truth be told my last motherboard (a few months into building the rig) died and I had to order a new one and oh boy was that fun to wait 4 MONTHS TO DELIVER FROM THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION ¬_¬.

Seriously that and I had to order a new I/O shield plating because my desktop case let alone two motherboards never issued one and even then I'm not having to send back the I/O because they sent me the wrong one and expect me to send it back so they can refund me and keep the whole process as slow as possible to order a new one because of this.

I also agree on the gamepad part because I've always found using one myself feels a lot more comfortable and easy to use and I still manage to hit all my targets using it.

I will say though this rig of mine has been far more hassle than saving up to buy a console and it's not a stroke of bad luck, it's more to do with the mobo breaking down and waiting 4 months for another (completely out of my control) and the same goes for the I/O.

And even then I'm still sticking with my plan of going for a Wii U and PS4 and no PC only pleb is going to tell me otherwise with facts and nonsense because I frankly don't care but I can tell they certainly do if they feel the need to have the last word on a pointless debate.

I'm also going to call an inb4 someone tells me "you just had a bad run in with getting the rig together" because that's just predictable =P

ok the ps4 turned out to be more powerful than i was initially expecting. so $400 is out of question. and sony wont sell the console for $600. mark my words $600 is a no go. its going to be $499. i bet that.
as for someone complaining about ps4 being too powerful and too expensive which is a bad thing the same set of people would have complained if the ps4 was underpowered. in my opinion the current ps4 specs are perfect. this console will easily last atleast 5-7 years. it will get great games and developing dor ps4 (and the new xbox) will be easier which in turn will benefit pc games. its a win win for us all.
now since the ps3 has amassed a large and good games library and a price cut looming i will probably jump on the ps3 for its exclusive games . good things for everybody

System memory: 8GB
Video Memory: 2.2GB
CPU: 4x Dual Core AMD64 "Bulldozer" (8 core)
GPU: AMD R10xx
Ports: 4x USB 3.0 2 Ethernet
Disc Drive: Bluray
HDD: 160 GB
Audio Output: HDMI & Optical, 2.0, 5.1, 7.1.

Going to be released internationally (from Australia) within 6 months.

EDIT: Apparently I was misled. It's not coming out until the "Holiday season" so it could be more like 8 months.
The CPU isn't Bulldozer based, its based on the mobile/low-power Jaguar architecture. The memory is unified 8gb of GDDR5, no separate system/video memory.
Thanks. It only took 3 pages to get something resembling the correct specs posted.

See here for actual specs from the conference...
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/02/sony-reveals-the-first-official-details-of-the-playstation-4/

Also, we don't know for sure what the GPU is going to be, Sony clearly said "next generation" in the presentation, so it could be something from the upcoming 8000 series of Radeon chips.

Also, comparing it to modern PC's is like comparing apples to oranges people. You PC doesn't have RAM that is anywhere near as fast as the PS4. None of your graphics cards have (almost) 8GB of RAM to work with. None of you have CPU, GPU, and RAM all soldered onto the same board with such low latency between components.

Well, this is silly. I was going to leave a comment, but I am so disappointed in the community, I will just leave PS4 specs, WiiU specs, and my PCs specs and say that they are all fully capable of playing great games.

PS3
CPU: 8-core based on AMD "Jaguar" architecture, though heavily modified. This architecture provides much higher output-per-cycle for gaming than most PC CPUs. Also, the GPU and CPU are cast in the same die, meaning that they are married together closely, reducing cost-of-manufacture, power consumption, and heat dispersion. this should solve the "Yellow Light of Death" problems.

GPU: ATI Radeon. With new tesselation engine algorithms much like nVIDIA's Firmi tesselation. This allows devs to move tasks once solely assigned to the CPU to move to the GPU, saving development costs and employee hours. The Dev kits reportedly shipped with the Radeon 4970m. The purpose being to save power consumption.

RAM: 8-gb GDDR5. Dev kits shipped with 4gb of eGDDR5, again to save power consumption. We will have to see whether or not Sony's final product uses Laptop technology to bring its customers lower power costs.

HDD: No one really cares.

WiiU:
CPU: 3-core IBM Power PC. Much similar to current-gen architecture, but with higher output-per-cycle.

GPU: ATI Radeon 5000-series based, but heavily modified.

RAM: 2gb eDDR4. Higher transfer speeds for gaming. Also, it is not shackled by Windows, especially Windows 8, so it is actually not that bad.

My PC, about 4 years old:
CPU: Intel i3, inferior to both the PS4 and WiiU processors.

GPU: nVIDIA GTX 3xx-series 1gb dedicated RAM.

RAM: 6gb DDR3. Shackled by Windows 7, so I basically have 4gb to use.

My PC just slipped under the recommended settings for Bioshock Infinite, but is still well above the minimum settings. For all those mentioning Crisis 3. . . how about we use a good game for a point-of-reference, please. Basically, my system is inferior to both the WiiU and PS4, and I am totally happy with it, and do not plan to upgrade it any time soon. Honestly, it is never about the tech, and always about the games.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't care about the specs. I find it funny how the PC Nazis come in talking about how their rigs are so much better and can have such great graphics, when at the end of the day, it really is about the games. Sure, the PC has a massive amount of games that no console can compete with, but why is it so bad to have consoles with their own(even though smaller) library of games? You offer up how amazing your game of Crysis 3 looks on a PC with maxed graphics, well good for you. I guess I'll just go be sad while I play some Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank. Maybe a good Final Fantasy game. How about a Shin Megami Tensei game. What's that PC Nazi? You've never played one of those games? Yeah, being the PC master race is so worth it when I get to miss out on all that Kingdom Hearts, Mario, Xenoblade, Starfox, Halo(past 2), Zelda, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Resistance, God of War, Dust, Croc, Castlevania, Fire Emblem, The World Ends With You, etc, etc. And I don't want to hear about how your PC can easily emulate any of these games. This site hates pirates with a passion; it seems slightly hypocritical, no, VERY hypocritical to talk down one act then talk about it as an upside for your glorious blond hair blue eyed PC.

It's okay, I can name off a laundry list of games too that is exclusive to PC but I won't cause it would take to long. Funny enough, Most of the games I would of listed aren't even that graphics power needy either. And emulating isn't illegal either, sure getting the game file is but only when you don't already own it. Sometimes it is just worth to play Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime in 1080.

For someone that doesn't care for specs, why would you even come to a topic conversation completely about specs? Better yet, why did you just try to make fun of the PC "nazi's" than join into their penis competition. I would assume that just makes you look bad but whatever. XD

I find this post amusingly ironic.

Anyone else find this ironic?

I think it's ironic.

How is the specs compared to current PCs?
That really depends.

Compared to top of the line PCs?
Its laughable. A top of the line, cutting edge PC would laugh in this things face. One TOTL PC CPU is more than twice as powerful as the PS3s, and you can put 3 of them together. The bulldozer CPU... When it was released I'm pretty sure it was the one that got the shit bagged out of it [Edit: Seems first/second post was mistaken and its not a Bulldozer CPU, so I'll say its CPU is actually alright ATM then]. Not that impressive really, and modern CPUs kick its ass. RAM wise 8Gb is nothing. That's 1 stick of RAM in a PC that can hold at least 4 sticks.

Really though, such PCs would cost a small fortune.

Where the PS4 sits in price comparison to a PC is around $600. To match the PS4 for power, you'd need to spend $600 on a PC, and that price will quickly drop as new hardware is released later in the year. There isn't a good way of defining high end, low end, mid range - ect. in the PC world thanks to the wide variety of rigs. Its the equivalent of a decent PC by my standards, but nothing extraordinary. Mileage will vary dependent on who you ask though.

And that's why I also play on my PC, because it has exclusive titles as well. I came here wanting to know what the PS4 could do, found it out, and also found(it was really just one guy) just going on and on about how the PC looks so much greater and basically making a giant twat of himself. Quite frankly it pissed me off, and not wanting to get reported I didn't name him and just went with PC nazi to refer to him. I don't care if you play the PC, because I do too, it's just those guys that act like they don't need any other platform while they have their precious PC and that anyone that disagrees is some retard. Why is that an ideology worth sticking up for? I'm not calling out all PC gamers if that's what anyone thought, my apologies if I came off that way, I was simply calling out assholes for being assholes. If me calling assholes out on it is making me look bad, fine by me.

That wasn't a post to all PC gamers, simply to the ones that do act like nazis and won't shut up about the graphics. If you count yourself a PC gamer, my apologies, I was not trying to call you out or anything, only those that actually try and act like the superior master race of gaming. Again, my apologies if I offended.

Is the irony of it when I managed to shove my own foot in my mouth while expressing my rage about some people that try to act superior simply because they are pure PC gamers that wouldn't touch a console if their lives depended on it? Otherwise I fail to see it.

Anyway, I'll take this opportunity to apologize once again for my public rage moment. I wasn't calling out PC gamers, only assholes that seem to think they are superior for only playing PC titles. I am sorry to any who thought that I was talking about PC gamers in general. I like my PC and love to game on it, but I'm sick of these purists that act like playing console games will somehow be the death of gaming.

Dont really care too much about specs just the fact that it can play used games (so I can take my games around to a friends house and play) and you can play games with no internet connection basically saying there is no change which is good I hate how gaming is getting locked down.

I will wait until some games come out to see what the PS4 is capable of I am expecting pretty rubbish launch titles as that seems to be a standard for the last few launches of consoles and after a year or so we may see some games beginning to embrace the architecture even if it is apparently easier to work with this time.

I will no doubt get one eventually probably after 6 months or 12 months im not in a hurry I still need to get a WiiU but am waiting for Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (although its only called X atm it seems).

Im interested to see what price they release it at I may actually import one this time if the games are region free and there are no negatives as they completely rip you off in the UK (and Australia and probably Europe) on the price of consoles and games compared to America yeah er 499 dollars thats 499 pounds er dont think so.

The PS3 launched for 425 pounds over here I believe which is atm 648.34 dollars which was to much for me although some people will drop that without thinking on a phone or PC (or even way more) thats to much for any of that stuff for me I eventually got one at 320 pounds I think which was ok I am willing to spend 300 odd on something that will last a while.

Something to keep in mind is that gaming consoles don't have to run resource expensive operating systems, so games usually run a lot better, with less hardware requirements.

A gaming console would blow a gaming pc out of the water if given the same hardware.

Just look at what the Xbox 360 can do, and its practically ancient by now.
