Bah. I worked outside in the freezing cold today at 6 in the morning. I just put on a jacket and stuffed a toque on under my hard hat and the only issue I had was the ice on the ground and how dark it was. The darkness was fixed with a headlamp and the ice was just avoided!

It wasn't too horrible. At least not in the Calgary region. Well, not too horrible when you bundled up a fair bit.

Yeah, the weather can't make up its mind around here (southern Alberta).

Monday, warm enough to wear shorts.
Wednesday, need winter coat.
Next week, back to the high teens.

At least we missed the snow. I'll take this compared to January where in a very mild winter we had one week of -35 degrees Celsius for a daytime high.

I'm from BC.

Of course, I live on the mainland. Not like you bloody savages, scrabbling around on an island.

Yeah, tell me about it man! Here in Hawaii it was like a consistent 81º F all day accompanied by cool trade winds. It totally ruined my walk home past scenic beaches under the afternoon sun. Worst part is that it won't even change until the dead of winter, and even then it'll be by like 2º.

As someone living on the southern end of Vancouver Island, I feel obligated to say the following: HA!

It's s sunny and clear 20c right now...and even in the dead of winter it'll probably never get lower than -5.
This right here, haha. So nice today, I love Vancouver Island. It's so nice.

Victoria ... fuck yeah... Not really, it's nice here, but a tad boring. Still, what are the odds that two Victorians would meet on a gaming forum with ten or twenty thousand members, although I'm not sure of the actual numbers?

Northerners have little to complain about as harsh winter is what has brought countries like Canada their relative prosperity.

How?

Winter kills insects. Insects eat agricultural crops. A surplus of agricultural crops frees up large parts of the population to work in other wealth creating industries as well as sell crops overseas.

And other things like long summer day with relatively short and cold night maximises crop yields compared to a tropical climate where night is almost as long as day and still warm. See crops are alive and respiring, a long hot night means the crops respire a lot consuming the sugars they photosynthesised all day. But cold slows respiration and the nights are shorter.

I'm not really complaining as much as I'm upset because I like Halloween and I don't want snow everywhere until after it's over; snow doesn't bother me one bit, hell I walk outside in t-shirts during -20 weather.

*Keep in mind I wrote this with a smile on my face and in a friendly manner*

Oh you countries/states with cold weather and your complaining are so funny. When you live in Texas with billion degree weather almost all year round then you have the right to complain.

We had one and a half inches of snow back in 2004 and that was it.

It was +25 Celcius here this past weekend.

Today?

... Sigh.
I'm confused. Is that bad? I can't see your image. I'm assuming from context that it went from nice and balmy to something awful, like what people not from a Canadian latitude stereotypically imagine Canada to be?

What part of Texas are you in? I've been in Texas for the past decade and a half, and every year, wherever in this huge state I've been (I move about a lot), I've had snow every year. Not for long, of course, but maybe two or three weeks of the possibility, and one or two days of actual snow, but still, there's been snow every year.

You think that's bad? When I lived in Niagara, we got three feet of snow... in the middle of April!
Funnily enough, I haven't seen more than maybe 6 inches of snow for about two years. Bloody England.
