Cartoon Network is the place where I go once a day to get my fix of Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry shorts (And those new versions don't count!)

Cartoon Network's got many problems, but I chuck them all up to being that its aimed for twitchy, unintelligent, lower life forms. (Read: Children) But I found it funny that Cartoon Network adverts show off really old characters like the old version of Scooby Doo, and Hong Kong Fooey. Two shows they never show anymore.

im just starting to believe that cn hates action shows since unless they're ben 10 spin off series they dont have any other real action shows dc nation was good but i hated they shove it like sat mourning when im at work and they never repeats through out the day. so yeah to be honest i was expecting them to cancel it all together.

Actually, they seem to have more action shows than before. A pattern I've been seeing is CN hating shows with robots in them(Whatever Happened to Robot Jones, Robot Boy, Megas XLR, Robotomy, Sym-Bionic Titan).

A little off-topic, but is the Dragon show worth watching?
I tried watching it and I loved the movie with a passion. Watch it whenever I babysit my nephew along with other great animated movies. But the show just didn't have the same feel to it. I couldn't make it through the first episode. I will probably give it another shot some other time, but for now not worth it.

Coming back to this thread, I find it hilarious that people are going "yeah, Cartoon Network is finally getting back on its feet!" It is back on its feet. It was "getting there" in late 2009, early 2010 when they had Flapjack, Chowder, Fosters, and Billy and Mandy on a Thursday night comedy block, with an action block on Friday nights including Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Secret Saturdays, and at least one other show I'm not remembering at the moment.

You know when Cartoon Network sucked? When the biggest show it had was "Squirrel Boy." Man was /that/ a dark period for the network. That, and the live action stuff, which was pulled about two months after it started because nobody was watching it.

Edit: By the way, for people wanting to watch older Cartoon Network stuff, Friday nights currently have a block called "Cartoon Planet," based on the original Cartoon Planet -- yes, complete with Brak and Zorak, although it lacks Space Ghost -- that shows old Cartoon Network originals. You're pretty much guaranteed to get at least one episode of Power Puff Girls if you watch it. The other shows are a bit more random, ranging from Johnny Bravo to Flapjack.

Oh, and Courage the Cowardly Dog never really went off the air. It still gets a few re-runs a week.

Edit Edit: Oh, one of the incarnations of Ben 10 was the third main action show on that block I was talking about. Not exactly great, but not terrible either, and The Secret Saturdays more than made up for it anyway. I don't know why that show never turns up in "hey remember this cartoon?" threads.

As for older Cartoon shows, Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Powerpuff Girls etc., hit up boomerang, It's a cornucopia of old titles such as these.
....or just hit up the Hub channel. To be honest, this channel has some serious potential. While it does show some new cartoons, it mostly shows the old gems - Superman, Batman (all four renditions of it), Transformers, GI Joe, etc.

It was a worthwhile necro. The Hub is awesome, it's like 90's Nickelodeon all over again what with the great cartoons during the day and the classic sitcoms at night -- several of which are shows that used to run on Nick at Nite until they decided to start showing 5-10 year old shows instead of 30-50 year old shows. It's also the home of My Little Pony, if you're into it.

The Hub is good. Its got Batman TAS on it, which is the only Batman I like. Its also started playing Sliders recently.

Nick....I can't even name one show it airs that isn't Spongebob. I miss that network, I used to watch it pretty much all day every day as a kid. Are you afraid of the Dark? Ren and Stimpy. David the Gnome. Noozles.

CN used to have good stuff. The only things I watch now are Adventure Time, Robot Chicken, Mad, and reruns of Fox shows.

The long list of Anime that USED to air that was actually good is rivaled by the list of crap they air now like Durararararararararara. Shows like Deathnote, Outlaw Star, Wolf's Rain, Trigun, Blue Gender, FLCL, Witch hunter Robin, Paranoia Agent, Inuyasha, and Naruto to name a few. Also, Shin Chan.

I like Cowboy Bebop and GitS as well, but unless there is a complete lack of good new Anime out there I don't get why they keep airing those two shows. I know that the fans throw a tantrum if they stop airing them, but they are about 10 years old now and you need to fucking get over it. Same with people that cream themselves for Space Ghost, or actually watch Squidbillies and Hole in the Wall. Sea Lab was pretty good, ATHF is occasionally funny. I miss Stroker and Hoop, and can't believe they have never gotten the rights to air Duckman yet!

Seriously, why isn't Duckman on Adult Swim?

I also LOVED Symbionic Titan and most of the other Gendy shows.

The biggest problem the network has is that its trying to be like 4 networks at the same time. Its line up is all over the place, and you take the good with the bad. I suppose the good being that they have enough variety in content that they don't feel the need to air day long marathons of the same 3 episodes of the same show that other networks do because they only have 3 actual shows.

G4 has its Cops/Cheaters block. You will see House MD playing over and over and over on like 6 different channels.

In the same boat. CN screw ups:

Live Action
Chowder
Flapjack
Johnny Test
Cancelling Toonami
Removing the Anime from Adult Swim
Cancelling Sym-bionic Titan(NO TOY REVENUE, WHAT THE FUCK)

Although they have redeemed themselves some what:
Cartoon Planet( all of the classic Cartoon Cartoons)
The return of Toomani
The DC block

But they have shot themselves in the foot by:
The horrible time slot that Toonami has,
now what you mentioned, Postponing the DC block.

I stopped hoping for Cartoon Network and ill just be pleasantly surprised if they do something right.
I'd add "putting the action block[footnote]it's the action block. It's focused around DC shows at the moment, but it's also where they put the Thundercats reboot and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The block was a Friday night block at one point.[/footnote] on Saturday morning" to the list of bad things, but remove Chowder from the list, and also add Regular Show, Adventure Time, and The Amazing World of Gumball to the list of good stuff.

Other stuff on the channel fares from OK (MAD, Dreamworks Dragons) to terrible (Almost Naked Animals, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome) to "oh god, why did they greenlight this?" (The Annoying Orange.)

And yes, I do watch a lot of cartoons. The good ones easily beat the endless reality and cop show re-runs that all the other channels are running, and even the mediocre ones are often better than what they're scheduled against. I pretty much only watch the news because it's all that's on in the early morning and late evening, watching cartoons or the occasional History Channel reality show (notably Pawn Stars) for the rest of the day.
I must admit that I like the new Toonami time slot. Mainly because it combines more older teen/adult oriented anime with Toonami which I find awesome. They are allowed to get away with a bit more stuff. It feels like Toonami was mainly brought back for the older teens/adults that watched it. That is how I see it anyway. I could very well be wrong.

I'm not happy about it just because it's /so/ late in the evening. I have to stay up until 3AM just to watch the shows I really care about, let alone the rest of the block. It'd be better if I had a DVR, but I don't, so it's tough.

But I was actually talking about DC Nation in the post you quoted XD
